  • The world will know his name and the truth. #RichardJewell - in cinemas January.
    Directed by Clint Eastwood and based on true events, “Richard Jewell” is a story of what happens when what is reported as fact obscures the truth.
    “There is a bomb in Centennial Park. You have thirty minutes.” The world is first introduced to Richard Jewell as the security guard who reports finding the device at the 1996 Atlanta bombing-his report making him a hero whose swift actions save countless lives. But within days, the law enforcement wannabe becomes the FBI’s number one suspect, vilified by press and public alike, his life ripped apart.
    Reaching out to independent, anti-establishment attorney Watson Bryant, Jewell staunchly professes his innocence. But Bryant finds he is out of his depth as he fights the combined powers of the FBI, GBI and APD to clear his client’s name, while keeping Richard from trusting the very people trying to destroy him.
    The film stars Oscar winners Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) as Watson Bryant and Kathy Bates (“Misery,” TV’s “American Horror Story”) as Richard’s mom, Bobi; Jon Hamm (“Baby Driver”) as the lead FBI investigator; Olivia Wilde (“Life Itself”) as Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Kathy Scruggs; and Paul Walter Hauser (“I, Tonya”) stars as Richard Jewell.
    Oscar winner Eastwood directed from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”), based on the Vanity Fair article “American Nightmare-The Ballad of Richard Jewell” by Marie Brenner. Eastwood also produced under his Malpaso banner, alongside Tim Moore, Jessica Meier, Kevin Misher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson and Jonah Hill.
    Eastwood’s creative team includes director of photography Yves Bélanger and production designer Kevin Ishioka, along with longtime costume designer Deborah Hopper and Oscar-winning editor Joel Cox (“Unforgiven”), who have worked with Eastwood throughout the years on numerous projects. The music is by Arturo Sandoval, who scored 2018’s “The Mule.”
    Warner Bros. Pictures Presents a Malpaso Production, an Appian Way/Misher Films/75 Year Plan Production, “Richard Jewell.” The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

      Jason-don't you think that sounds a little harsh? The way I see it anyone who went to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics is in some way part of the story. That device just happened to be planted at that location on that day. There's no saying it could have been one of the other days or some of their location.

    Even though Eastwood’s new films aren’t as prolific as his early career, you have to respect the man for being over 90 years old and still making movies. Looking forward to this one.

      Jake Ram he was even on set running around at 3am in the morning and cutting up with the background and getting down in the grass to do it. The man loves it and is determined to do it as long as he can

    • @fredsmith4756
      @fredsmith4756 5 років тому +20

      Actually his recent work is just as prolific as his "early career". He's always averaged a movie a year (sometimes more) and he's directed 3 in the last two years, one of which he also starred in, and this from a guy who's almost 90. This is simply unprecedented in American cinema.

    • @jakeram4439

      @@fredsmith4756 oh yeah I wasn't knocking his work I was just saying he is most known for his spaghetti westerns (the man with no name trilogy), dirty harry, and unforgiven. Most people would've retired after directing an oscar winning swan song to their career but he stuck with it even into his late 80s which is impressive even if you don't like his films. Eastwood is definitely a role model of mine.

    Kathy Scruggs, reporter for AJC writes the article Richard Jewell MAY be the bomber for which AJC never settled their lawsuit. Now AJC is worried that the movie shows Kathy Scruggs MAY have slept around with cops for inside info(including FBI). Now that's karma

    • @fredsmith4756
      @fredsmith4756 4 роки тому +2

      What's hilarious is that the AJC editor Kevin Riley, who's been contacting various media outlets with his complaints, not only hasn't seen the movie but, incredibly, wasn't even working at the paper when the Richard Jewell affair happened! Riley loves to whine about how 'There isn't any evidence that Kathy Scruggs slept with someone to get her scoop.' To which one could reasonably reply 'There also isn't any evidence that she didn't.' It's a matter of record that Scruggs was well known for dressing like a tart and flirting with sources to obtain scoops so it's hardly rocket science to infer which way she might have jumped given the chance. The more Riley mouths off about this the more he underscores why most people regard the media as a bunch of dishonest, sanctimonious and self-serving hypocrites.

    One of my college friends worked at the 1996 Olympics when this occurred. My college friend was a very fit guy and he knew Richard Jewell would not have been physically able to pull off what they accused him of doing. My friend said Jewell was unfairly targeted and law enforcement and the media failed immensely.

    I remember this so vividly. So many people injured. The press were salivating at publicly prosecuting him. Atlanta had the world in her city because of the olympics. It was the story of a lifetime for those reporters. They did not care that they were ruining a mans life. The press picked out their villain and went for the jugular.

    I grew up around this Jewell ,he seemed nice down to earth fellow....crazy even as a kid, he directed our Elementary school traffic and always tried to put a smile on everyday, and never even knew his name the hundreds of times passing one another......What the media esp. back then was absurd and looking back at trying their best to have his name sold as the enemy to this day is still proves if anything Nothing changed, they just do it daily these days! Eastwood and this overall couldn't have picked a better timing for the nation alone to watch this and maybe start waking up to the idea of Govt. and Media bullying

    What is sad, is that Richard Jewell's name does not appear on the memorial for first responders. He is given no credit. What's even more disgusting is the millions of people who think he is guilty to this day. Saw an interview with his sister not too long ago, and she gets phone calls for some supporting Richard, but mostly those still saying he is guilty.

    People say, who cares about Richard Jewell. This film is more about the gravity of what happened to him than who he is. He was a nobody who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and an easy scapegoat for a heartless organization that is always looking for a fast resolution to big crimes.and a news media that puts profits before truth. It's important to know that this could happen to anybody, anywhere. It's a cautionary tale. My opinion.

      They got caught with Trump too. I don't have cable, my only knowledge of "Russian Collusion" comes from reading the documents. When you just read the documents, and stick to the facts, you see a very different reality than the one the Media is trying to paint.
