I really appreciate that you talked about the realistic clearances. I think we've all been stuck with reading specs and then finding out that a component just won't fit. With the GPU shortage, it isn't easy to return something and be able to get a different component either.
Drop in ssds should be standard. In the center of a two chamber sff, this drop in idea could be a game changer. As far as the rear fan hub, that could also be a pretty nifty thing to be standard.
Once again, you never fail to give us quality videos that are extremely descriptive and that dive into every single detail that a regular person like me would probably would’ve missed if it weren’t for informative videos like this. Keep up the amazing job, we appreciate you!
Found out to use a 280mm AIO you have to mount the fans to the case and the radiator below it. The radiator limit is 315mm or 325mm if you remove that SSD cage
Do you know if the NZXT Z63 280mm AIO would fit in this case? Would I have to do the same configuration that you are suggesting? The NZXT AIO is 315mm long, so I don't think there should be a problem with fitting it in since I will not be using the SSD cage.
@@lucianootiniano9307 that should fit with no issue. The fans have to be fitted to the case first then radiator due to case having a bit of a lip at the top of the case that just barely fits two 120mm fans side by side.
just had to stop by and say i very much appreciate your in-depth showings and reviews. Your the only channel I've come across that gets to the things i actually want to know and find out. So huge shout out. 🙂
hotswappable SSD, the PWM and argb hub, option for bottom intake fans, really great work Lian Li ! cinematic mode is soooo goood ! keep up the excellent work !
It’s great to see great innovation being made in the SFF ITX case scene over the past year or two! Great review Nick and to the entire GS crew, Claire & Bindi, appreciate the work you do 🥰🥰👍🏆
Nick, you mentioned you couldn’t fit the ROG strix card in at 318.5mm (as per ASUS website) but you fit the msi 3070 which is measured at 323mm? So is the clearance more towards 323mm?
You could mount the fans 1st and put the rad below and then you could fit a 280mm rad. And have the fans exhausting air still. I wonder if they could of made the front Io along the bottom to help with GPU clearance or if there is room on the other side. Would also be good if you could but 2x mesh and 2x TG if you wanted to. Now I have to make a hard choice nr200p max or this 🤔
16:16 Oh wow when you said that I felt relieved. I was actually going to get the NR200-P but it unfortunately went out of stock, so I got the Q58 instead
The configuration mentioned at 13:55 implies that the best configuration would be to have the mesh on the bottom on one side and the top for the other. I decided to do this as I was watching this while I was building. This is not possible. The glass panels have a tab so they can only be both on the same side, both on top, or both on bottom. But not top on one side and bottom on the other. The mesh panels don't have that tab so it's fine. I'm now considering cutting off that tab but they don't sell additional glass panels (and I can't find where to order additional mesh panels in the states). The reason I wanted to do it was because the aio I chose looked nice and clean and I wanted to show off the CPU block. And I needed mesh on the other side for air intake for the GPU.
Lol, I legit was about to ask if Bindi ever plays or bites your cases when she builds with you and sure enough she did it right as I was typing it out :D. I smile every time I see her.
My tip for everyone: You can buy the PCIe 3.0 version of this case for $80 on NewEgg right now and a white PCIe riser cable on Amazon for $50-$60. This is not only cheaper than buying the PCIe 4.0 version of the case, but you can drill new mounting holes closer to the case window/mesh to bump your GPU out away from the motherboard, so you aren't creating such a hot spot between major components (this is a mod that many have done and they have gotten better thermals).
The case lists support for 320mm GPU while the Strix 3090s are 319mm. Are we 100% sure they can't fit? This is a major make/break for me as I love how this case looks but refuse to give up my white 3090. I fully trust you and Bindi but my wishful thinking can't help but consider "there has to be some way!"
What an awesome case. Lian Li really know how to make a quality product. I have the Lancool 205 Mesh myself. I would love to see the setup and thermals with an ATX PSU. I have a white Cooler Master PSU that would look great in this. Now I have something to strive for in the next few years when I build another PC. Thanks for the detailed review!
Did you get to try different AIOs considering the size of radiators? :) Would love to see your next build! Also would like to see you trying to use a regular PSU and combining a single fan AIO! Thanks for the good quality videos!
thats the Rog Gundam gpu right? per paper its 319mm???? i currently own the case. planning on replacing the GPU to Sapphire's 7800 XT Pure at 320mm.......
Will ask you to use both mesh panels on the gpu side and both glass on the mobo side.... the gpu will breathe better and the cpu block and ram will showcase the rgb better along with the fans
I wish this case would have all 4 mesh panels - this would help CPU (AIO) a lot. Also, the front panel should be higher (on the upper half) or on the right side so it would give more space for a longer GPU.
Asus 280mm AIO fits perfectly without having to remove the fan hub or 2.5 inch drive tray. NZXT 280mm AIO fits, but you have to remove either the fan hub OR the drive tray - the radiator is just a smidge too long. Also - NZXT kraken AIO pumps are too large to fit on Asus Z690-i boards.
Beautiful case and great review. Only thing I would be a little concerned with is the screw that is really close to one of the fan power connectors on that hub. Lian Li should have made it longer to accommodate longer GPUs as most aftermarket cards are very long, especially the white ones like the Strix. Not sure why I haven't heard of your channel till today but you got yourself another subscriber. Keep up the amazing content.
I just bought the black version, went with the MSI B550I, Ryzen 7 5800x, Kraken z63 aio, g skill z neo 32gb, but i am debating on the power supply cooler master v850 or the silverstone sx1000 platinum for my 3080ti.
I didn't even see this until I was looking at Reddit earlier. Looks like this will be my next case for my build. Might just have to sell all my extra full size and mid towers haha. Thinking of going 12th gen Intel once them prices go down a bit.
Hej mate, just watched your video. I did a little research: the ASUS ROG Gundam 3080 has a length of 318.5 mm and the MSI 3070 Gaming X Trio a length of 323.00 mm. How is it possible that the ASUS didn't fit but the MSI did? Is it because of the chunky ASUS cooler? I am a little confused as I want to try to fit a 4070 TI with a length of 323.00 mm which would be the same length as the 3070 you used here.
Could you mount two 3.5in HDDs in there? My SG05 at nearly 11L can fit two 3.5s and two (to four) 2.5s, a 120mm AIO with P12 push-pull, SFX PSU, 60mm gpu exhaust. Heck I'm planning on mounting a couple of 40-50mm fans beneath the PSU for some VRM ventilation. I'm thinking of the Meshlicious or maybe this case as a potential future upgrade
I love the idea of cases like this and the NR200, but micro-ATX is more neglected every year. It only needs to be slightly larger to fit an mATX board, it wouldn't make too much of a difference in height. Missed opportunity.
I have found that SFF cases have too many compromises to be made such as cooling CPU and GPU, cable management, etc,. I will stick with mid-size towers and ATX motherboards.

Love the case and design but Inhad to take down the build and transfer it to the NR200 and let me say that the NR200 is way better in temps but not as beautiful as the Q58. I would say the Q58 is good for a lower tier 1080p gaming build like i3 /i5/R5 5600X /5600G with an RX 6600XT / GTX 1660ti / RTX 3050 or 3060 at the most .

this looks so good, my next build is probably gonna be something small, so mini atx is great, was looking for a either 3080 team green or team red 6800 or 6800 xt. problem: there is literally NO custom card design that would fit. the reference cards are smaller lol! but sexy case for sure, thermals also look ok!
Ive looked at strix specs and they say its less than 320mm when that msi trio board is 323 so its such cointoss if they give accurate specs in that regard. Even a red devil is meant to be a couple mm shorter but that remains to be seen.
So glad to hear Nick is healthy !!
