It's the Izuna Drop, lots of ninja characters use it in video games, including Rock Lee, Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden/DOA, and Guy from SF/FF. Even Ninja Kirby uses it in Kirby Superstar. Not sure where it originated, maybe it's based on an IRL ninja move?
Like which ones? All the ones in the video are either straight up the exact same animation, or they're so similar that it's pretty obviously a reference. A lot of these moves are somewhat iconic in the fighting game community, and it's well known that this game makes a ton of references to other fighting games
Jimmy Joseph Like the peach parasol one with parasoul's j.MK. It's basically a given for a character with an umbrella to have a move for them to open their umbrella and float in the air. I doubt it's actually a reference to peach.
Jimmy Joseph Or like painwheel's snap being a reference to tarkatan blades from mortal kombat. I just don't see it. There is a variety of other moves showing that she has metal in her body. I think it's just a quirk of her character, not a reference to Baraka just because he also uses metal that is protruding from his body.
I agree, I do feel that some are more universal then referencing only one thing. The whole parasol floating down was a thing/ gag from Mary Poppins and the early disney cartoons, maybe even before. The Zombie hopping thing is more derived from chinese folklore and how Jiangshi (chinese Vampire/zombie) hop cos their joints are rigid. There are others such as Parasoul's downward kick and jump that I think is very likely to have simply been the most obvious movement for a low kick or jump for a character rather than a reference to streetfighter. Valentine's body bag pile driver is more a reference to the original wrestling move then another game.
You know what boggles my mind? How Peacock has a color palette referencing The Warden from Superjail! I know its not a video game and it has little to do with this video, but its so weird to me how they took inspiration from something kind of obscure like Superjail! Oh well, that show deserves more love anyway.
actually I think big bands special is more of a reference to dio's Muda Muda as big band can be heard saying tuba tuba atleast that's what I think I might be wrong.
Dylan Cross I did agree with the original comment. I was mentioning that it could be confused for Fist of the North Star because Jonathan was inspired by kenshiro. The punch flurry and all.
The one that Demonboy might be talking about is when you do Big Band's max power move. Where you freeze time and get a trumpet solo. If that's the case, the hell yeah. That's a jojo reference!

@@jesjai8653 yeah, it's like a pokemon's cry, but a stand instead. They do it every time they attack. For The World it's Muda, for Star Platinum it's Ora, etc.
Day 1000: Me and the presents in this comment section haven't found the names of the music used here... Edit: IT HAS BE *FOUND!!!* Viper GTS PC-98 Squiter
1:43 In my house I am giving myself a facepalm, that is based on JJBA, the screams "TUBA TUBA TUBA" are based on DIO's "MUDA MUDA MUDA" with his stand [The World] Or if we take into account the Big Band skin Which is based on the appearance of Jotaro Kujo in the manga, with his "ORA ORA ORA" from his stand [Star Platinum] the reference is obvious ...
1:41 I think it's more likely to be a JoJo reference, because of the way he yells while performing the attack (Tuba tuba tuba tuba) and he finishes with move with a stronger punch instead of a kick.
Well I would say both can be very plausible. Yes Big band has a secret color pallet that is star platinum and the rush cry of "Tuba Tuba" does sound an awful lot like "Muda Muda". Yet, for the rush itself it could be a reference to "The hundred crack fist" from Fotns and in the show Kenshiro never finishes that move with a kick it usually ends with heavy punch the kicks we're only used in the fighting game by Sega as far as I know. As a fan of both I love seeing this and thinking of two great animes. How about we fans concede and agree that this one move references one of the most iconic moves in all of anime and manga?
My favorite reference is when robo fortune goes "fight for my friends, error, I have no friends" 1: Cause it's funny 2: "I fight for my friends" is the best thing Ike ever said
Actually, the Big Band's TU-TU-TU-TU-TUBA is another reference to JJBA. Yes, I perfectly know that Jotaro's ORAORAORA is a reference to Jonathan's move used one time against Dio Brando in the JJBA: Phantom Blood series, wich is a reference itself to Kenshiro's move. (in lesser words, it's a JoJo reference within a Kenshiro reference) But, since the sound it makes is "TU-TU-TU-TU-TU-TUBA" it is a reference to Jotaro's Star Platinum shouting "ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA ORA!!" while creating a punching barriage. Or could, peraphs, even be another reference to DIO's signature expression "MUDA!" (="useless!"), in fact "TUBA!" and "MUDA" sound pretty similar, and when DIO uses The World to create a punching barriage like Jotaro does with Star Platinum, he (DIO himself) shouts "MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!"
As a fan of both I kinda feel better saying its a reference to Fotns because I respect Fotns so much more than Jojo now that I've finished fotns. It is just so much more badass.
Skullgirls is stuffed with references & nods, and not just with fighters' moves. I mean, there's various alt skins, other little nods, heck, the main theme of the game sounds INCREDIBLY familiar...

Jimmy Joseph the easter island on was pretty weird. Just say that its from the actual heads on easter island irl not the obscure bullethell game that is a reference to the real thing. I guarantee the creators based it off the real thing not a reference
1:45 omae wa mou shindeiru
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't filica from Darkstarkers do the berserker barrage aswell also there is a reference for robo fortune for (zero from megaman x ) before fighting Marie
She can also occasionally say that as a time out quote "What Am I Fighting For?"
So after almost 6 years nobody know the songs playing in this?
yup
Found 'em. See: newest comment on this video. :-)
@@Holty48 Thanks ;)

6:19 wath is the name of the game?
Waku Waku 7
1:38 is another JoJo Reference. He says "TUBA" As if that was his stand cry
Cry?
@@jesjai8653 yeah, it's like a pokemon's cry, but a stand instead. They do it every time they attack. For The World it's Muda, for Star Platinum it's Ora, etc.
@@annoy4nce648 ye ye srry in that time i got confused bcs i call it scream, but in like 2weeks ago i noticed it is called cry lol
Where's the last song from? Been looking for it for years.
Found it. See: newest comment on this video. :-)
God, I wish I knew what the song name was at 1:58. 3 years has passed and nobody couldn't get an answer.
jjbaHFTFjin Ah...Me too. From the sound of it, it looks looks like Mega Man to me. Hit me up if you find anything. ;o
Try downloading the video and isolating it, then use a reverse search tool. I'm getting 3rd strike vibes from it
Now 4 years
based off the general sound of the ost, i can say this has to be darkstalkers. i hear too much of these soundfonts in the other darkstalkers themes
I got you, I'm looking it up
Skullgirls have as much references as musical references in jojo
What song it's playing after 1:56 ?

@@Holty48 thank you so much, hero!!!
@@arkham9500 No problem at all! :-)
But Kenshiro's is cooler
And JJBA is pretty much a HnK knockoff for the first 2 seasons, the 3rd one too if you look closely
Love the music. The part at 0:41 was great.
1:58 music!?

If you're doing stage references, you missed some of the Kickstarter backers in river king Casino like Matt and Woolie from Tbfp and Zone-Tan
Let's not forget guile and chun li as dogs
+Kaleb the Bonk Boy in what stage again?
+Keanu Parris the casino
Aiden Skinner ty
Also the chun li and guile costumes on the dogs from street fighter
You posted 2(or 3) jjba reference!
You gonna gain visuals!
1:41 I think it's more likely to be a JoJo reference, because of the way he yells while performing the attack (Tuba tuba tuba tuba) and he finishes with move with a stronger punch instead of a kick.
R. Fen And the fact he has a Jotaro color palette
What music is this in 1:56 ?
5:57 hunter left4dead XD
Bruh what is the second song called everyone is asking for source
My favorite reference is when robo fortune goes "fight for my friends, error, I have no friends"
1: Cause it's funny
2: "I fight for my friends" is the best thing Ike ever said
So basically this game is just a copycat of every fighting games...
The way the Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken overrides the music is the best part of the video.
Music used?
Nobody seems to remember the Peacock's Eye-Knifes reference from 'Who framed Roger Rabbit'
2:45
Bad company/worst company
Actually, the Big Band's TU-TU-TU-TU-TUBA is another reference to JJBA.
Yes, I perfectly know that Jotaro's ORAORAORA is a reference to Jonathan's move used one time against Dio Brando in the JJBA: Phantom Blood series, wich is a reference itself to Kenshiro's move. (in lesser words, it's a JoJo reference within a Kenshiro reference)
But, since the sound it makes is "TU-TU-TU-TU-TU-TUBA" it is a reference to Jotaro's Star Platinum shouting "ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA ORA!!" while creating a punching barriage.
Or Dorararararara! Because in "Dora" many times "ra" and in "Tuba" many times "tu".
yeano
The Tuba Super is in fact Jotaro's 236AA, 236A/B/C or DIO's 236A/B/C
I had always thought the parasol move was a MvC reference to Storm’s flying animation. I missed the subtle “parasol” clue, I guess.
why was DIO using crazy diamond?
Que lindo juego... Merece ser jugado durante decadas y lustros
Ya'll saying "Big Band is Jojo" forgetting that Fist came before Jojo. Doesn't matter which one it's closer to, Kenshiro was the beginning
As a fan of both I kinda feel better saying its a reference to Fotns because I respect Fotns so much more than Jojo now that I've finished fotns. It is just so much more badass.
5:01 Considering the way they wrap them up in the body bag, isn't this a reference to Rock Lee's Primary Lotis from the original Naruto?
ryu hayabusa had it in dead or alive the izuna drop
Tuba Tuba is a jojo's reference
The 2 music name pls
Still searching it
OMG its taking so long ...
This song 2:12 Is cool, What a name this music?
Skullgirls is stuffed with references & nods, and not just with fighters' moves.
I mean, there's various alt skins, other little nods, heck, the main theme of the game sounds INCREDIBLY familiar...
The theme?
Yeah, the theme sounds similar to Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye from Touhou 11
Pleasure lash is definitely not what its referencing I can say that with absolute certainty
You forgot one
The one that does DIO road roller can also stop time and throw knives.
So we just going to ignore the little red ridding hood pulling out a sub machine gun and spawning the hunter and a soldier?
2:09 name of the music??
Scherching but i didnt find
Still not finding it
