  • SIPA was founded in the aftermath of World War II. Understanding that what had happened in the 1930s was something that we must do everything in our power not to experience again, ever. I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that the world is in crisis. And I think that SIPA can make a huge impact on five main challenges the world is facing around energy, climate policy, around geopolitics and international security policy, around technology innovation and policy, inequality and the politics of redistribution, and democratic governance and resilience.
The idea is to figure out how can we as a community of scholars work as a team to really help solve those five biggest challenges the world is facing and be able to do the research using the most cutting edge tools we can to understand those problems, to offer solutions, to train the students to be able to be out there in the world, advocating for better practices, thinking through the complexity of the problems. We are very fortunate to be a policy school not just in New York City, but a policy school that is part of an amazing institution, an Ivy League top research institution. That the orientation of Columbia is also very global. And at this moment, the world needs schools, universities, policy schools in universities, to play a leading role in studying those problems, those challenges, and having a sense of purpose, urgency, and an understanding of the complexity of the problem. This is a big moment for a policy school. And we have to lead the way. We just have to.

Investing done right has changed my perspective on how one can succeed in life. I've been able to clear my debt and go on to have surplus to take care of my family. Working multiple jobs for money isn't the optimal way to attain financial freedom. Unfortunately, we find this out later in life. Great video
