  • Paid content for @Prada. Coral reefs are often described as the rainforests of the seas, and for good reason. While they account for less than one percent of the world’s ocean, they support a whopping 25 percent of all marine species. However, rising ocean temperatures and acidification, exacerbated by adjacent impacts like destructive fishing, resource extraction, and marine pollution could cause all UNESCO World Heritage coral reefs to become functionally extinct by 2100, according to UNESCO - unless we rapidly embrace blue economies, change our behavior and relationship with the ocean and drastically reduce carbon emissions over the coming decades.

finally there is a video dedicated to Indonesia biodiversity.
Indonesia is not a joke. it contain both rich land biodiversity and the ocean biodiversity.
and on earth, there is only 2 places where you can see a rich ocean biodiversity. coral triangle and great barrier reef.
amazon is nothing to coral triangle in the size but it's always get the exposure to international eyes. but not with coral triangle.
Edit: i know coral triangle is also about Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Eastern part of Malaysia, and Northern Australia. But most of coral triangle located in Indonesia territory.

There is also a great freshwater biotope in Indonesia and greater southeast asia. Then there is the tropical regions of Africa.
Only 3 highly productive biodiversity locations on this planet. Not a whole lot.
Then we have the northern forests and their biotope. Canada, Alaska, N. America, Eastern Europe and Siberia and beyond. That biotope is less productive but equally important. The colder air and denser air help to trap C02 within the denser forest regions. Very important.

I’m glad that the video actually included a local dive guide like Usal Mambraku instead of just focusing on the foreigner’s point of view. 👍
To those who want to witness the unspoiled beauty of Raja Ampat, you’re welcome to visit the Indonesian province of Southwest Papua, and most likely you will fly into the provincial capital of Sorong, where you might enjoy a day or two of local life.
