    They can be very aggressive towards other males and docile non aggressive fish. They are tough enough to survive with Cichlids but they will kill Dainos and Corydoras. I keep a tank of eight 3 spot Gouramis. They are better in a species specific tank. Very smart fish.

      Gouramis are generally peaceful fish and can be kept with a variety of tankmates, but it is true that some species, like the three-spot gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus), can be more aggressive towards other males of their own species and more dominant fish in general. It is generally recommended to keep only one male gourami in a tank, or to have a larger tank with plenty of hiding places and territory for multiple males to establish their own space.
      If you are keeping a tank with a group of three-spot gouramis, it is important to provide plenty of hiding places and areas of visual separation to help reduce aggression between males. You should also be cautious when introducing new fish to the tank, as gouramis may be territorial and may react aggressively towards unfamiliar fish.
      It is also important to provide a well-balanced diet and to maintain good water quality in order to help reduce aggression and stress in gouramis. In general, it is a good idea to research the specific needs and behaviors of any fish species before adding them to your tank to ensure that you are able to provide the proper care and environment for them.

    I got my three spot because right now I'm a fish beginner so for starters I got a three spot gourami because it doesn't need a lot of care and it doesn't need a air pump machine so until I got it home I realised it was one female and one male so I didn't know anything about gouramis in the starting so I put both of them in the fish bowl for the first day everything was ok but then from Friday the male started chasing the female one and when I used to put food the male somewhat used to bite the females belly and not allow it to eat a lot in the night the female was just in one position in the water and wouldn't move I thought it was scared of the male in the morning it was dead sinken down the tank flat that was sad the males alive now but doesn't seem to care about anything of what he did

      All these things depend on how long you will keep the fish in a small place. 10 gallons will be fine but the three spot gourami fish is not happy in this. It should always be remembered that the fishes need a place to swim. Due to not swimming in such a small space, the fishes come under stress. And your male fish was aggressive so your female fish died quickly. I hope you have understood the point.

    This fish is highly aggressive and very hardy. I had a male 4 inch 3 spotted gourami. After some time I bought an Oscar 4-5 inches I housed Oscar with him initially every thing was fine but after 2-3 days Oscar starts showing his bossy nature. All fishes were scared of him but until he took a fight with 3 spotted gourami. He beat the shit out of him. Gourami was the boss until Oscar reach 6 inches.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому

      thank you for sharing your experience ith us btw It is not uncommon for Oscar fish to become more aggressive as they grow and establish dominance in the tank. In general, it is best to house Oscar fish with other large, non-aggressive fish that are able to hold their own. It is not uncommon for Oscars to attack and bully smaller or more timid fish. It is also a good idea to provide plenty of hiding spots and areas for the other fish to retreat to in order to help them feel more secure and reduce the likelihood of aggression.

    Does it need a filter? Because whenever I run the filter, it hides behind the filter to avoid water currents...

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому

      Generally gourami fish not required filter or air stone for breathing. But It's important to have a filter in your aquarium to keep the water clean and clear for your fish. However, if your fish are having difficulty swimming or are avoiding the filter due to the current, there are a few things you can try.
      First, make sure that the filter you have is appropriate for the size of your aquarium and the type of fish you have. Some filters may be too powerful for smaller aquariums or for fish that prefer calm water.
      You can also try adjusting the flow rate of the filter. Many filters have adjustable flow rates that allow you to decrease the current in the aquarium.
      Another option is to create areas of calm water in the aquarium using plants or decorations. This can provide your fish with a place to rest and avoid the filter's current.
      Overall, having a filter is important for maintaining a healthy aquarium, but it's important to make sure that it's not causing undue stress for your fish.

      Thanks for your comment! As a general rule, it's recommended to run the filter in your aquarium for at least 8 hours a day to ensure proper filtration and water circulation. However, this can vary depending on the size of your aquarium and the number of fish you have.

    did these guys eat platy or sword tails frys?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  4 місяці тому +1

      Dwarf gouramis like the three-spot variety typically won't prey on healthy adult platy or swordtail fish. However, they may consume fry if they can catch them. It's not their primary diet, but in a small tank or if they're particularly aggressive, they might see small fry as easy snacks. Providing plenty of hiding spaces for the fry or separating them until they're larger can help prevent this.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  10 місяців тому

      Mixing Three Spot Gouramis with Tiger Sharks and Koi fishes isn't recommended. Tiger Sharks and Koi can grow quite large and have different water requirements compared to Three Spot Gouramis. Additionally, the Gouramis may be stressed or harassed by the other fish in a smaller tank. It's generally best to keep fish with similar size, water parameter, and temperament requirements together.

      Three Spot Gouramis are generally peaceful fish, but adding GloFish to the same tank might not be the best idea. GloFish are active and might be nippy, which can stress the Gouramis. Also, GloFish have different temperature requirements, so it's essential to ensure that the tank's water parameters and temperature are suitable for both species. If you decide to mix them, monitor their interactions closely and be prepared to separate them if any aggression occurs.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому

      It is not uncommon for gouramis to exhibit aggressive behavior, especially if they are housed in an inadequate environment. If your three spot gourami is consistently displaying aggressive behavior towards the other fish, it may be best to remove him from the tank and either rehome him or keep him in a tank by himself. Alternatively, you could consider getting more gouramis to keep him company, but be sure to research their tank requirements and compatibility with other fish beforehand to ensure that you are providing a suitable environment for all of your fish.

      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +2

      Fish, including the three spot gourami, do not have the ability to love or form an emotional attachment to their owners in the same way that dogs or cats might. However, they can learn to recognize their owners and become more comfortable with them over time. It's important to provide proper care, including a suitable environment and diet, to ensure the health and wellbeing of the fish.

      While fish do not have the same capacity for play as some other animals, they may exhibit behaviors that appear playful, such as swimming around their owners or interacting with objects in the aquarium. However, these behaviors are typically driven by curiosity or an attempt to obtain food rather than a desire for play. It's important to remember that fish have unique behaviors and needs that may not always align with human expectations or emotions.
