Anyone who thinks it looks bad has no idea how movies are made. The fact they have a prosthetic with that much detail when they could get away with using a tennis ball is telling on how detailed the movie will be. I’m pumped!
I think some people are probably skeptical from the first f4 movie and how terrible the thing was. This one looks so dope though
Not to mention how comic accurate they did galactus
It’s a super dated look. I think they could smooth him out and fix his facial proportions for a better aesthetic look on screen but who knows, maybe it won’t read like a bad 80s animation show. I do share the same sentiment about them using prosthetics instead of rushed cgi that turns out looking terrible like Beast or Modok.
I absolutely adore the fake hype you’ve generated for yourself. I respect it. Amen. Go dc
@@nicholasemmons1755 you’re proving the point I made in this comment. It’s literally just a mask for them to use in Post-Vis. That’s not what it’s going to look like in the movie. They could literally use a tennis ball instead of the mask we see in this picture and it would be the same.
Ben Grimm looks absolutely perfect! 🙏🏽 This Fantastic Four film is gonna be a marvelous movie! 4️⃣✨️🙌🏽
Definitely looks better than the last 2!! ❤

Everybody cries about all the decisions until the movie does well and then everyone pretends they were always on board.
I'm always on board until I actually see the movie. I try not to judge too harshly unless given a good reason too lol.
@@hamsterrwrld6767 Same.
You may be right!
Everybody? You don’t know everybody, kid
@@judeless77 Great comment. Definitely added to the conversation.
They have to get the Thing right. They have to get the catch phrases right, too. When he says It's clobberin' time, people have to jump up out of their seats, or they screwed up.
Clobbering time
Nobody's jumping out of their seat from that phrase 😄
Yeah, that's what makes or breaks the movie. Morbius for example, had that incredible line "It's morbin time!" and people shat their pants out of excitement. I can't believe how amazing that moment was. It's like shitting your pants in a good way.

What a great reveal for Jack Kirby’s 107th Birthday! There’s a little John Byrne in there too with the Alex Ross
I'm really hoping the movie turns out good. It'd be nice for there to be a FF movie that everyone loves
So glad it’s not completely cgi and mocap, I’m really digging the unique vibe they’re going for with this rendition. It needs to stand apart from the others and I’m all for it! The cast is already growing on me.
The footage of them placing the head on Thing looked impressive.
This fantastic four movie is only getting better and better
That is JACK KIRBY's Thing ! :) ~Glorious.
He said “it looks like one famous Marvel comics illustrator” and I’m like yeah it’s Jack Kirby Thing, let’s go!! And then he said Alex Ross, like uhhh, well… I guess? But that big thick brow is iconic Kirby and always will be.
It’s always better to have practical effects then the other. Always looks better an feels more real
People tend to forget that in the 2015 FF movie the Thing had a practical head but was CGI.
Alex Ross is the bomb, my all time favorite painting of his is the group picture of the Legion of Superheroes
The fact that we're not getting a cloud out of villain I'm hopeful for this version of the fantastic 4
He looks perfect. Cannot wait to hear him say "It's Clobberin Time" 🔥🔥
i am excited to see a great Fantastic Four movie. Marvel please get it right, we deserve it.
I actually thought they would use CGI for Ben Grimm/The Thing.
The practical effects don't look bad in the set photo.
Really, Alex Ross's version is based pretty closely on Jack Kirby's version. In the first few issues, Kirby's Thing was more like dinosaur skin, but by around issue 20 or so, the Thing's classic look was established, and stayed pretty much the same until John Byrne in the 80s.
THIS is incredible news and love The pictures of THING for FANTASTIC 4 RISE OF GALACTUS
I really hope they can get FF right! So important for the rest of the MCU
I'm sure he will look fine. The Hulks and other characters have looked good when the CGI teams have been given enough time to work on them.
Hopefully we will in the MCU Fantastic Four interact and team up with Spider-Man and Thing vs. Hulk at least once.
I love alex ross art work
Always been a huge fan of Galactus and fantastic four I am very hyped for this movie.
I always wanted to see a version of The Thing where you can tell its made of different rocks, minerals and elements. And in battle, you can sometimes see some of them get chipped off, and something else grows out of him in its place. I can see a dynamic where after years of battle, The Thing gets bigger and bigger, because every time something gets chipped off, something grows out more and takes up more space..
He looks perfect imo
I figured that they were going for a practical outlook on set, and they're going to do some touch-ups with CGI, of course.
Thanks again for the update Michael Roman and EVERYTHING ALWAYS you totally awesome and rock
Just went to your page and looked. The Thing looks AMAZING!!!!
Agreed
Man it actually looks good and as true to the classic as much as possible. They are doing the best they can to get the classic version into this modern day.
I cant wait to see if silversurfer will emerge in this film or post credit.
I have disappointing news for you...
@@ashinthewind2759 oh no... What disappointing news?
@@peterparker1951 they are using a female version of Silver Sufer in First Steps.
It's nice there sticking to the lore and they're having Franklin Richards and not pulling a Morgan situation lol
I'm personally looking forward to this movie and I cant wait to see it...
I never disliked the previous Fab4 movies, but they were only just a little better than Green Lantern, so I’m stoked for the MCU’s take!
Ben Grimm looks good to me. I'm looking forward to this iteration of the Fantastic Four.
ALL FIRES 🔥 LIVE IN THREE DAYS!!!
Absolutely love it, the prosthetics are gonna look amazing once the project is done! I’m really a lot more excited for the movie now. Thank you Michael!! You da man!!!
Everything Always, great video keep up the amazing work
Sounds like a refresh reboot and I hope this one doesn't flop.
I agree with you Mike, it's like a first draft. It'll get cleaned up in post. No worries.
Keep up the amazing work and as always please stay safe.
Excelsior!
Heff
U know, most marvel characters from the 2000s era were practical, which I never had problems with them. And this one, looks really interesting though.
I was thinking John Bryne art, but yeah I def see Alex Ross both are amazing
I'm here for it all
The fact that they're making The Thing practical instead of motion capture is commendable! 😎🔥😁
I for one appreciate the way it appears that they're getting the different productions and story lines together in cohesive flow. I am looking forward to seeing how they bring it all together while maintaining the continuous flow. booyaaa
have been a marvel fan since the 60's
Alex Ross is also one of my favorite artists as well. I really hope they’re going that direction with the Thing.
That much detail in The Thing as a prosthetic gives me so much hope for this version of the first family
Alex Ross’ version of The Thing is a painted version based on John Byrne’s design. He talks about this in interviews, and specifically in Fantastic Four: Full Circle. Of course… this is also great news because Byrne had the best FF run right after Jack and Stan.
Fantastic video! Thank you Michael!
I’m glad we get the behind the scenes footage and pictures. It makes me more excited to see the movies for the most part.
Absolutely love the practical look. Alex Ross has always been my favorite comic book artist. He’s just different, and the inspirations definitely there.
That's my childhood version. I LOVE IT!!! He doesn't look plastic melted under a heat lamp. Thank you, MCU !!
That prosthetic is probably just for one very quick shot.
I think it's fitting and refreshing that they're not going full mo-cap/CGI for The Thing, should be a fun watch.
I think it looks perfect , did your instagram get token down ?
I haven't gotten to see the behind the scenes Thing yet so I have no comment on it yet. I'm just STOKED for the Fantastic Four movie!!!!
I love it. Thanks dude!
Yeah it completely changes my mind on how I felt about this movie now that they’ve went to this version of the thing and RDJ as a alternate universe Doom
He looks great
I just remembered today is Jack Kirby's birthday and we get news about the Thing which was his favorite character he created!
I saw your post on instagram Mike. He looks great. Thanks.
Everything comes out best when they mix both prosthetics with CGI. That way it’s not overly dependent on one or the other. This is definitely the way moving forward!
It looks (dare I say it?) FANTASTIC! Definitely has the vibe of Alex Ross's version of the Thing, which is based heavily on Jack Kirby, George Perez, and John Byrne's versions. I have no doubt they'll do a CGI finish on it, but the fact that they are going with an on-set prosthetic suit and enhancing that tells me they are paying attention to detail, world-building, and authenticity of performances. I love it.
I agree with you, what you see onset is never the final product. It’s what you see on the screen.
I did see the leaked video. I think as a raw 1st look, it looks pretty good.
It'd be wild and awesome if they relied heavily on practical effects for this film while they're in the futuristic 60's and add more CG if/when they travel to present day.
All fires giving out life advice😂 I’m here for it
I’m totally in for this movie, Alex Ross is my favorite artist and this version of the Thing will be perfect
The Thing looks amazing!!!! I love that they’re going with the classic comic book style.
Terribly disappointed from missing the Xmen97 finale but so grateful to watch Deadpool & Wolverine plus extremely anxious to get more content with my favorite team.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!
I too think Alex Ross is the most talented comicbook artist! Loved the tribute to his work at San Diego comic con
In my opinion, they could really nail it home with the fantastic four and change the current MCU.
I like the idea of the actors wearing something to give them their character's vibe so it make the acting better
Good on you for letting some of those folks know, to just calm down and wait for the finished project.
I've been waiting for this. Not bad.
So excited for Alex Ross style being implemented! I really like his style for Spider-Man
I'm still super excited. It is nice to see physical proof that Fantastic 4 is on its way
I just hope Ebon is properly accommodated Comfort wise while in the suit, Cuz Back in the OG Fantastic Four movie, I think I heard somewhere or read something about Michael Chicklis being mad uncomfortable during filming
Let me take a look. I hope it's good.
Yesssir
I’m so glad you said what you said about set photos. It’s the same nonsense with the Superman movie. Everyone’s complaining about set photos as if it’s the final product. I’m glad they’re going with the Jack Kirby/Alex Ross design, but I thought that Ebon Moss-Bachrach was going to do total Mo-cap. Either way I’m excited. 😊
Everything Alex Ross does is breathtaking! Thanks for the heads up on this picture.
I liked the look of the Thing from the unreleased 90s movie.
What a great time to be alive! I can’t wait for this movie! Seeing the cast at Comic Con was amazing, I know they will deliver!
Looks pretty good for The Thing. Imagine between the interaction between Ben & Korg
As popular as Alex Ross is with his iconic painterly illustrations and his classic Marvels miniseries with Kurt Busiek, his work functions as True Fan "tribute art." Alex's version of the Thing is actually his tribute to his own favorite renditions of the character by legends like John Byrne and John Buscema.
I like that they're leaning all the way in on the retro vibes
F4 was the first movie. I saw in theaters just my little brother and I. I can not wait to see Marvel’s full take on the family.
Would have been a 100% okay with them being in their own MCU universe, and just joined the main cast.
they did such a good job with the suit and how accurate it is i cant wait to see it on the screen
Thanks for the update!
I like how you described what we’re seeing in the photo. Just a thought-maybe unlikely-but it could be a prop too.
Thing is one of the coolest characters never done right in any movie. If MCU can make the FF right this will be next leg up for the franchise
I loved the photo I saw of the Thing. I'm feeling hopeful right now for the FF
saw this on ig can't believe f4 is almost here can't wait
Even as an untouched look, I think he looks great! Really looking forward to seeing the final product!
I'm scared Michael! You're getting my hopes up REALLY high for this iteration of Marvel's First Family! - That being said, I'm sure I'll love it no matter what! 😅
I'm actually excited for this version. It's better than a prosthetic head that was used for fox rendition of that fantastic 4.
In all movies the Thing has been the best portrayed character
