There was a case in the US years ago, when the rich kid, who got only home arrest confinement for a heinous crime. His lawyer argued it was a case of 'affluenza' ! - being raised in a wealthy home, the kid wasn't really exposed to reality of the rule of law...
I was a rich kid. We were always bored. Didn't have to work or help at home. Had nothing but time, but also money, so could buy anything we wanted. This all got old fast because we were young and as males, felt we had to prove something, but what? We already had everything. We didn't hurt others but we wanted to break things, wanted to do what bad guys did. The ad on tv with the eggs frying in the pan "this is your brain on drugs" made me want to do drugs. The ad on tv "nobody says, I want to be a junky when I grow up" made me want to be a junky when I grew up, and I didn't even know what a junky actually was, inasmuch as they use heroin as opposed to lesser drugs. I've always been clean as an adult, but those ads did not help my childhood. I'd love to know how much that ad agency made off the gov't for the useless DARE campaign.

Gee, the movie is twice as long with all of the commercials. UA-cam is getting ridiculous. Great movie if you can handle skipping the commercials every 3 minutes.
I didn't enjoy this at all, with Ladd showing the damage years of Alcohol & pills had done. Steiger is always worth watching, but this rambled along ad nauseum. No character buildup, minimal script and a patchwork story... first and last time I see this. TY for the post anyway.
Believe it or not, the channel makes extra money by advertising ads for companies, It's annoying to most of us but to those business oriented, it's just business lol
Sheryls wife looks good . She almost got raped near the end of the movie . Titillating scene with her blouse partially open and a glimpse at her Maidenform bra . However she was kind of dumb opening the front door without asking 🗣️who is there 👤
He hires a PI & has the police working on the case yet.....hounding people, screws up his job & acts like a hot head stomping around like a cripple.....weird.
Michael Callan made a repulsive 'cowardly sort of good guy in "Cat Ballou"...I will confess he made a convincingly awful thug/rapist. Jane Fonda falling in love with him...ridiculous. Sometimes actors are in wrong roles...Steiger's zero chemistry with the generally unlikable Joan Collins in "7 Thieves" was absurd. She did a good film with Burton in late 50s..."Sea Wife"? and was fine in an early Star Trek, as 1930s social worker 'doomed to die'. The Pawnbroker" was a fine art film. Ladd's decline very sad here. Maybe he should have taken LSD clinically, like Cary Grant, who said it cured his neuroses, and smoked the ganja.
I need movies like this as escapism from the worlds wars, USA elections, the crap happening in my own country England.
Ditto, & I live in Italy.
Justice for Palestine.
I can dig it. Nyc
Ffs if I lived in England I would be suicidal.
I love Rod Stiger as a lawman, this was five years before "In the Heat of the Night."
One fine actor Rod Steiger
I remember seeing this at least 50 years ago. Been wondering what it was ever since.
This was one of Mr. Ladd's last films.
I've never seen one I didn't like.
Allan Ladd had the greatest smoker's voice in Hollywood!!
He committed suicide shortly after.
Happy Noirvember 2024😎🌃🎷
Thank you👍
He aged quickly, something that his known heavy drinking didn't help. He looked past it all in this picture
I agree. He looked like Hell.
Well it was kind of the point since he kept getting beat up by thugs.
Amazing movie ❤
Great. Thanks,
good movie thank you.
Excellent movie 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟a must see 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
They don’t make movies like this any more. Thank God!

Read the book Shane truly excellent. Movie too book even better!
Shane was made in 1953

No way. This Gun for Hire.
The actors' performances are excellent. But there is not enough explanation for why a rich student became a cold-blooded criminal.
It's been done before in other movies like Rope and Compulsion. Rich kids got away with more and did more for kicks, basically.

Alan Ladd looking old in this....just 9 years after his great role in Shane.
Little Joey chasing Shane as he rides away into the sunset .
“ Shane Shane come back, mother needs you “
@@markbahouth2713 Little Joey didn't miss much
Allan Ladd sounded drunk in that first scene.
Attori eccellenti bel film.👍
Did they have in-car phones back in the 60's?
Dam good car chase....
I think ladd was good in this one. Not corny like some of his older movies.
Rod Steiger was in another great film called “the mark“. The subject was a little creepy, but the acting was great.
Cool Rod Steiger looks good in the role of a police officer

He's no Robert Mitchum.
Just enough period details to keep me interested.

Just pay for the UA-cam version without ads and stop complaining please!
Use the web browser version and disable the app. I only use the app if I rent or buy a film. I'm 42 mins in and haven't seen an ad yet.

His wife had such sweet eyes yet so disloyal to her husband.
Cant hold my attention.
Next film please.
These things happen.
Not a classic, but watchable I suppose.
What a disgusting character that Sheryl and what a wonderful character is his wife.

If Walter knew Chuck had attempted to Rape his wife Walter would have held him down in the pool until the last little bubbles stopped. 🫧🫧

Not the best of Ladd or movie!
Yes. Had to make a living, I guess.
Alan Ladd's most unlikable role. Also, Was the Private Eye the dumbest, or what?
