there's evidence emerging that robot pets can help those living with dementia by giving them companionship and improving their sleep patterns/motor functions. neat stuff.
Which is great because too often people with dementia and no family assistance end up neglecting their pets and they slowly starve and die which won't be an issue with the robots
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a UK release soon! I own 10 of the older models (never had one from new though) and they still surprise me by doing new things after all these years. My oldest aibo (ERS 111) will be 19 years old this month and he's still running great and on his original batteries, just shows the quality of these robots. I think an aibo is a great alternative to a bio dog if you have allergies or you are not in a position to have a pet. Also great for those who appreciate technology and Artificial Intelligence. I have made so many friends over the years from these amazing robots and even ran my own aibo conventions here in the UK and Australia. You certainly do get attached to them 💗🤖🐶

Where did you buy Aibo? And was it geared up to work in the UK? I would love one of these but thought they were only available in the US. Love the videos, love all your videos.
That was funny with the real dog, and the robot dog, but at least the Robot dog wont crap on the floor.

If it wasn't 3000.00$ I would probably look forward buying one, prefer a cat , but for now I'm looking at Anki Cosmo, still 250.00$ is not cheap.

How about a robotic partner? Most humans aren't far of work-eat-sleep-repeat robots anyway -with a bit of shopping and TV thrown in Ha! That's the sum total of most human lives in the 'developed' world.

This robot dog has no real autonomy, whereas real dogs do. Real dogs have personalities of their own, like another small human living in your house. this robot is basically just a pet/slave for human entertainment. Its never going to be replaceable in my opinion.
When you think at the time of tamagochis, this looks like it looked back ago for my child eyes

Honestly. I don’t think I can embrace a robot dog because it’s not alive and doesn’t give that soul connection that I believe humans have with live pets. So I don’t think I will be investing in it. But I won’t slam those who do.

I hope in the future people don't start to have robot pets cause like , what's the fun? They are not alive, they don't have feelings and they are not cute.
It would be nice to have a mascot that acts like your phone though like a cute character that when you say " search how to make French fries on Google " they do it for you. Like in that anime ( forgot the name) but a normal robot can do that for you too.
You're right, for now, but in 10, 20, or so years they'll be able to think 1000s of times better than humans. It will be the robots who will say, "Those humans, what's the fun? They're not alive. They're so emotional and weak. They're not cute."

Its cool but I would never pay for it over a normal dog. I could see people who are allergic to dogs but want to get their little children a pet getting the dog because children would probably really enjoy it. I could see myself getting attached to it though if I had one.
Yup, but do remember that this is a gateway to the tech of the future. 30 years from now some kid watching this video would think we were a bunch of weirdos while petting his/her super advanced robot dog.

You know that Thomas Edison's light bulb invention was made fun of at the British Parliament for not being "good enough" ? now humans can't live without it... these Robots are only early models and to get to have very useful ones you need such a beginning.

@@hpt1283 Not the same quality and that's the point... in technology there is inventing and innovating, even though the first is more important but an invention will probably get nowhere without innovation. For example, If humans had stopped at using the Internet for military purposes this conversation would never had happened, thats also the case if Edison listened to his critics... the only absurd thing here is you not having the capability to understand that any advancement achieved by making this Robotdog, Robotics engineering and science moves another step forward... I can probably guess people like you were the ones who criticised the first ever PC... you know that the first PC was labelled as unless to the common man ? or that the world went crazy over what they called a computerphobia ?
@@abd28elshamekhMate, you talk about this dog as if it was some state of the art thing, comparing to the first ever light bulb or the first PC. These animatronics are already far more advanced than this doggy, for example those robots playing basketball or table tennis. This dog is nothing but a delusion of modern living where everything gotta be made of plastic and chipsets.
So yeah, I know science as the most important thing on our daily lives, I'm just saying that this dog itself adds nothing to it when compared to other robots or devices that connect things arround us. Nothing but a money-burner.

@@hpt1283 As far as i know everyone of the mentioned Robots had a "speciality" like playing a sport, doing parcour or even dancing or speaking but non had everything... this one looks to be made for dealing with human interactions which as far as i know only the humanoid robots were made for that purpose... what i mean is, if someone wanted to make a dog with all of the qualities i mentioned previously they'll have this one as a reference for human interaction. That's why i used the PC and the Internet as examples as both had little to no use for the public at their beginning... that's where competition came to create the perfect computer. And that's what I'm defending here, i'm happy to see some sort of a competition as I'm sure one of these companies will come on top using what everyone had discovered to create something special.
