Space Hulk always featured 2 squads of Terminators... certainly a Heavy Flamer is the iconic armament. Might be good to see a second squad with a traditional layout. Also, a terminator librarian is another historic part of the game. I'd love to see those!
In the core game definitely. In the 1st edition Deathwing expansion they added a Captain, assault cannon and chain fist. This couldn’t be more spot on for that specific version 👍
Well you know now you've got to make a full dark angels army now😂. These are the best looking deathwing terminators I've seen.
So fun! Love the hobby focused vids, might be might favorite part of the hobby! Love me some basing too, although i mostly do like ruins and more natural stuff so this was very inspirational!
Great video as always, Henry, would love to see more of your hobbying in 2024. Also love the GA-2100 - whenever I have a painting session that is the one I wear. A workhorse like your good self
absolutely rockin
Awesome looking squad. And great vid, love to see more in that style to be honest
quit with the self doubt. this was a great video. thanks
This is one of those deviously inspiring projects, with the allure that Space Hulk's had since back then! It looks like a good range of requests are covered in other comments, but if you might "accidentally" add to this Deathwing squad - and accidents do happen hehe - why not run with this episodes conversion theme and convert a Deathwing apothecary? The way the lense pods protrude on top of the new terminators could be easier to replace with apothecary bits, as could a chainfist become a drill, just off the top of my head!
Cheers for another brilliant video anyway!
I'm waiting for my pre-order box to come and being of a "certain" age i had fully intended to use an old school more white than bone colour scheme - thank you SO much for this! 👌
Deathwing all the way and all the time...yes please more of all of it please.
love it, i have DA in that old space hulk paint sceme, and its great to see you paint them up over these last couple videos. All of my games atleast one person asks if there White Scars.
I 100% support the accidental Terminator army! Awesome video as always!
This recipe would work for Space Wolves too. I actually thought that's what they were from the thumbnail - I thought the DA chapter icon was one of the red Heresy era Space Wolves ones!
I can see why you enjoyed doing these so much! I think the end result is brilliant. Really enjoyed that video.
Hats off to the Khornate stealer @1:00
Really enjoyed this especially as i can't wait for the new deathwing minis to be released Looking forward to seeing more of your journey this year
Excellent work…I particularly enjoyed your ‘hardest decal work known to man’ tutorial 😂
Henry, this was a great video as always. It's not just self indulgent, i really enjoyed watching. Thanks for showing us how you worked those decals around objects. I for one would love to see a terminator chaplain to go with these guys.
I also love seeing your conversions in videos, so please keep showing them
Amazing paint job mate, really good work.
Not every project needs to have a purpose. These look great and fun to paint. Cannot wait until I get my hands on the Dark Angels box and add even more terminators to my army. That full Deathwing list is becoming more realistic.
Decals, when applied well, look amazing. No amount of freehanding looks as clean as a decal and some microsol.
Henry please do more converting and hobbying, it's awesome to watch you do this stuff
Awesome video Henry. More Terminators please!
Keep going with the deathwing
I would love to see little additions to this force. And more videos just on your projects are great one of my favorite videos is when you converted your Horus ascended model into a tiger claws character
They need a land raider to drive them around the spaceship.
Would love to see more converting and building! Look forward to see what you do with that
13:09 Absolutely! One of my favourite videos on this channel is your White Scars conversion. The converting you did for the March for Maccragge was also super fun to watch!
thanks iain
Everyone is just going to love these beautiful death wing paint jobs. Not everyone is going to love that this is what you consider army painting standards. Ha ha
The originals were based on and had the American red Indian markings over the armour.. also had names of that nature... I was surprised you didn't do that?
We need to see a librarian and a captain
Theres a librarian video too
love when you build or show us your process...
Very fun and interesting video. Thank you.
I liked seeing the basing work and I think it is worth doing videos like this. Painting tutorials are great, and useful... but so is this. And doing something you have passion for will probably result in a more entertaining/interesting video anyway.
You using Tamiya thin poly cement to mildly melt the surface of the base rims back to flat was a genius idea to allow you more freedom with sanding the edges of the plasticard. Definitely worth remembering, and something I'm going to test for the Reaver titan I'm making a base for at the moment.
Seeing your methodology for the decal work was also great. It's something that is probably far more pertinent to the majority of your viewers than any amount of freehanding advice.
Thx for showing the decal work on the power fist! And please do continue to show you working on the hobby in various ways. It doesn't need to be strictly tutorial. Just whatever it is you're doing. Your enjoyment of the work is infectious and makes the videos a joy to watch. Plus you skills always create a beautiful final product that's a joy to look at. (Even if only for a few minutes)
Keep making projects you enjoy, with this level of skill and many people will come along to watch! Myself included! Thanks again for another great video. Oh, and yes LIBRARIAN PLEASE!
Hey man, love seeing more of the trial and error stuff instead of straight tutorials. Tutorials are great and useful, but this kind of thing is more fun for sitting down and listening to during hobby time. Love the result here! Let’s see a full Space Hulk box please.
Love them termies, love how they turned out. There is no such thing as too much Termies.
I really like the sword from the DA upgrade sprue, the pose is way better than one from normal box. Will we also see your take on the new deathwing knights?
the sword is a great bit.
please do the deathwing knights
do you use a polyurethane varnish for more protection compared to a regular acrylic varnish? great videos btw its been a blast seeing you have fun with the Deathwing termies!
yes and no. I bought the bottle years ago and its lasted forever. I've become used to using it and understanding its properties. The added protection is a nice bonus, but my primary reason for using it is the gloss finish.
@@cultofpaint ok thanks for getting back to me! ive been on a hunt lately to find a really protective acrylic based varnish! ive used a bunch of products and am going to test out some poly based varnish to see how it protects!
Love them, would be happy to see more or maybe you could do some classic colour scheme genestealers with the same bases to go with them. Also lots of good tips in this video I need to try that riveting method and get some of those big checkerboard transfers to try out.
Agree 100% some genestealers a bit converted for variety in a scheme inspired by the same art… I’d then watch the ensuing game of space hulk
These are gorgeous and like you said they really remind me of older GW. I say make a whole deathwing army.
Oh henry, it would be really cool to see a Terminator Librarian that you add into these guys, or maybe some of those deathwing knights you could do up into this style! :P
These look amazing, but I'd definitely go warm white with Deathguard, cold white looks very Space Wolfy
Yeah, I think we need to see your take on Deathwing Knights now in this scheme, also Belial.... And because you have suggested it yourself, a Terminator Librarian... And Sod it a Chaplain as well.
Yeah, I'll encourage this.... more deathwing please, librarian, captain, chaplain... everything
Constantly out-doing yourself Henry. So beautiful. Might even pinch some of this for my box set, so thank you for the inspiration as always.
Loved Space Hulk in the early 90s. However strong their carapace is, I think they’d definitely need some reinforcements (librarian, captain, perhaps some Companions?)…
I totally agree with putting the bright colours on the power fists for a cartoony look. I'm working on some Space Wolves terminators right now, and am enjoying the bright yellow with black dags mixed with various decals. Also working on some Jump Intercessors that I'm going to paint as being from the Firehowlers Great Company so going for plenty of yellow and red flames on then - tossing up whether to use the the new Salamander decals or freehand them. I really like seeing conversion work, I think I used the same bolts you used on the base on my Terminators.
Another banger. Seriously dude, please do an all out deathwing army, Belial, Land raiders, Watchers, then share it with us.
More hobbying aside from painting sounds great too. Basically i think everything you share here is interesting, because i enjoy following your point of view
You sell yourself so short when it comes to basing sometimes man. I really enjoyed the "barebones plus" bases you did for the Scars you painted for the Heresy army. That beam on the Contemptor base was great. The rocky outcrop look was JUST want that army needed too.
These are amazing, thank so much for uploading this video, i had 50 old terminators painted like the space hulk colour theme 15 years ago. I just got my hands on the Deathwing assault box and want to paint them again as the space hulk colour theme. This was exactly what i had in mind but didnt know how to apply it on the minarures, thanx for the tutorial!
These videos are absolute bangers. I have a Templars army and wasn’t going to get these new Dark Angels but decided to buy the box and will have it as a small elite force maybe or just to play Space Hulk with.
I love seeing these videos as it’s like seeing my own mind work 😂
Just getting into 40K from AoS, ordered the Deathwing box… love these videos, the more the better, I’m a bit worried about how to paint things like dreadnauts and tanks since so different from dragons and whatnot so hope you expand with a few vehicles too!
I just found my old termis from the original deathwing expansion box and this video has inspired me...off to the simple green they go!
Is there a general name for this method of miniature painting when compared to the more common style (at least that ive seen) that involves working up from base coat with hand painted edge highlights? (an example of the latter can be found in the so called 'eavy metal style). I'm considering getting into painting and this more de-saturated, grounded style is very appealing to me.
Look great - I have used the Microscale solutions for years but did not know they did decal sheets - do you have a product code for the black checked sheet? Also hoping they do red too - and if you know of a stockist/affiliate in the UK that would be great.
Personal projects are always fun to watch! Would definitely be keen to see more if you wanted add to it. Some genestealers to oppose space hulk style would be really cool...
Love the red and yellow stripes on the power fist, and the tiny scratches look really good, but for those who are less comfortable using a knife, try a glass fibre pencil instead, same process (base colour, varnish, then top coat) but as soon as the top coat is touch dry, rub it gently with the glass fibre pencil and it will create some really nice chipping/scratching effects
Amazing work!
13:09 the more building/converting/hobbying, the better!
Love these! The white looks so smooth and the colored stripes and checks pop so nicely!
just do a classic dark angels army with a modern style like these terminators you coward xD
Please do make more hobby videos, they are much more fun to watch than the beginer tutorials. And it should be easy to go back and refrence the older videos you have done, as i think you covered most topics by now, so yes please let us see you just doing youre thing, its so fun to watch
this isn't a plan for an army..... sure Henry, we believe you
I’d love to see how you approach painting belial.
Would love to see some characters in this style. Beliel and a lib would be so cool! Termie chaplain maybe?
if you are having a hobby evening it would be awesome to have it live if you dont want to do tutorials all the time
Love your painting videos. I look forward to the basing videos and following your journey and learning also 🙌
Day one of me asking for your take on a Terminator Librarian.
Wow, Henry. That just blew me away. The bases are wonderful and the minis just look awesome. I have so many ideas running round my head at the moment :) Thank you! Quick question, what does the extra thin glue do? Is that acting like a sealer?
melts all the dusty bits of plastic
Outstanding dude ❤ soooo cool
Big thumbs up for more converting, building and hobbying on the channel! I am really enjoying that kind of content, especially in form of larger projects like the Black Templars. Shorter ones would great too, obviously.
Lovely project Henry. I enjoyed the fist decal and basing parts in particular.
When you asked whether we are ok with more building and converting this year, my answer is a resounding: "Yes, please!!"
Love this kind of vintage homage, Henry. 😗👌
I've got a similar Space Crusade project cooking and this video has definitely injected some ideas and inspiration into the mix 👍
This is a lot of fun to watch, it's always fun to hear your excitement when you accomplish these types of projects Henry.
And hey nothing says you couldn't make a Space Hulk Combat Patrol. That way you scratch that Dark Angels itch and you have a nice little shelf army you can enjoy and use 😊 hope to see that librarian when you're able to paint him up
Always preferred the "grey/white" armor with gold of Deathwing memory over the present sand/green look. Well done!!!
Absolutely adore this color scheme for Deathwing. Can't wait to get my Deathwing Assault box and paint up a few of my own in this style. Would love to see more!
It's time to do the Knights
Absolutely stunning!! I love it. I'm rebuilding my aged DA army with primaris and the new termies, i'm tempted to follow suit with what you did there!
Henry, this video was bloody brilliant! Always love the videos and I think its awesome that you're including some of the other hobbying components in the videos, as someone that's been in the hobby for less than a year, I'm eating up some of these techniques 😊❤
Great looking deathwing terminators ! I have a feeling the bases got a bit too much for the result achieved 😅it just a flat surface with a bit of grit and plain :D
absolutely. But i tried to look at them as a "start from here". Might as well use the testers for something!
Please do show us more conversion and build work. I always find it interesting to see how people approach certain problems, especially if it is different from how I normally do things.
Seems like a really fun way of making bases! Will have to try it out with all the plasticard stock I haven't used in ages. Always great to see some of the more build-orientated content
Awesome job, my man 👍🏻
10:50 and comments! 😉
Great video, Henry! Your painting style is top-notch but your custom bases are even better! Love the creativity of this Hobby!
Love that look. And yeah librarian and knights would be siiiiick!!
Such a cool scheme! Not sure whether to try this scheme or Andy’s blood angel scheme
both Tom, you do both.
Mate, you're too humble. This was an awesome video, I enjoyed every minute of it
They look so fantastic Henry, very inspiring!
Your love for these minis really bleeds through the video. Super fun, super cool!
Up to date my favourite lesson in painting warhammer40k by taking older Ideas because i brought that edition painted the terminators blood angles and the tyranids black and grey. Haven't brought any Primaris guess I'm a old fashioned guy. Your video gothic terminators looking like they do is awesome! Did you ever read the early imperial Fists story about them coming from tribes like native American Indians and how they decorated things with feathers talismans totems of their recruitment world any chance you could show us the feathers not exotic think eagles, and the figure with that sort of skin colouring? I know native American heads are available for a possible route even obviously they're not a imperial Fists Primaris but a new chapter with their armour light fawn in colour. Im writing some lore starting tonight 1030ish ! Game on !
Great video! I enjoyed the base-building, gave me some nice ideas and inspiration!
Nice 👍 🙌🙌🙌🍻
What is the scale of the checker patter decal set from Microscale is this?
@@Warh0und sorry I don't know. I didn't keep the packets, and I bought a few different sizes.
what color did you use for the edge highlighting? love the old school look
Ivory.
Would you consider a quick genestealer cult method Henry? Something small and fairly difficult to paint!
Id like to do some Genestealer cult stuff.
@@cultofpaint I look forward to it!
Would adore a Belial video in the same vein, love all the content, cheers
Thanks! I'd like to revisit these guys over the summer.
Epic! What metal paint did you use on the big chain gun?
Thanks! MCs burnt iron and mig light metal
im all for more of these dudes, maybe as a bit of a palette cleanser? do a unit or character here and there between scheduled projects
Hi Henry, in your previous video you showed off a Dark Angels model with a cloak and hood, what were the paints you used for that? i'd like to keep the scheme consistent on mine
The banner bearer? If it's the green robes you mean then I'm afraid I don't remember. I did that video as a focus on icon thing. I think Vallejo game colour black green was probably used. Other than that I'm sorry I just don't know.
@@cultofpaint No problem, thanks for getting back, I can use that as a good jumping off point!
Love it. I want to see the full whatever, as much as you want.
