Wonderful video, thank you for this especially the look of the economy class, scenery, toilets, lack of USB + electrical outlets and buffet options.
I'm taking the XPT tomorrow for the first time to Canberra and back (I'm returning the same day), probably the same timings you took.
Airfares were like $270 return. Greyhound bus $90 (I took them in 2016 but now seems they have so few trips between Sydney and Canberra. and Murrays bus was $85 (they really still have many trips). I decided to take XPT as it was $74. But we shall see how it is.
Have a great trip! It’s mostly very long especially if you do it all within a day…bring something to read or some music you enjoy and then it’s definitely going to be a better experience 😅
Australia Day Today!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🥳
Yes! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Happy Australia Day to you all!!!! I thought it’s a good day to upload a very Australian video! Thank you all for watching and have a wonderful day ❤️
The toiler review was the peak of this video. 10/10
Haha thank you 🫣😂
Very interesting video. Great to watch. Thanks for making it.
Thank you so much for your comment and positive feedback ☺️ much appreciated!
At one time (around 1970's) I travelled to Sydney and back to Melbourne by train quite a lot. My parents lived in northern Tasmania so I would make the trip each way, crossing Bass Strait by ferry. My father worked in administration for Tas Rail and received free or reduced fares for the family while we children were still dependents.
Thank you for your comment! I’m guessing the train was a previous model back then?
Hi, I enjoyed your trip & the bunny! Thank you for the mobile/ battery information, that’s something you wouldn’t think of. Elaine from Queensland.
Haha yes the bunny was my highlight! And yes being a power bank for NSW trains. Glad you liked it, thank you for watching 💚
Better to catch the Murrays bus!
Yes it’s a bit faster BUT also a bit more expensive 😅 thank you for watching ☺️
I love Canberra. Its a beautiful place. Shame that the train used from Sydney to Canberra is ancient and uncomfortable. I'll take the bus next time.
Yes Canberra is very laid back and green. I made a video about my day in Canberra and it shows how much I liked it 😎
Mediocrity is the name of the game with NSW country trains. Stuck in the 90s.
I agree...hopefully we'll get an upgrade soon because it's slightly embarrassing especially compared to Japan or Europe...but thank you for watching!
@@NonStopTravelVV Can't agree it's stuck in the 90's - I'd put it more like the 50's.

Ahh Outdated Trains Best Regards Andrew:)
Totally 🫣😅 thank you for watching!
Well, let's be honest, the majority of people avoid using trains for any trip longer than an hour. Most people fly, or drive. Spending money updating interstate trains is NOT a priority.
AT the beginning, 2:27 the train on left Explorer, on the right XPT also 3:18 you missed the map of Australia with the routes inlaid in the floor.
Thank you...you seem to know your trains! And I didn't realise that the Australia map on the floor has the train lines. That's so cool! Thank you for letting me know and for watching my video!
Hi! I'm travelling tomorrow with a guitar. Did you take it with you? Is the luggage check strict like an airport? Thanks so much for the video ❤ super useful!!
You can definitely bring it! Nobody asked me anything I just got on the train with my bag and my instrument and it was all good! Safe travels!
Queensland and Western Australian trains are the fastest and most comfortable.
Oh thank you! I will try more train routes soon…it can only be better 😅
Pity about the derailment holding you up on your forward journey.
On the return, the rabbit was at Joppa Junction, so one suspects you were held whilst a freight train changed crew and cleared Goulburn.
The trains are painfully slow between Goulburn and Sydney especially, and the Melbourne train was an hour faster in each direction than it is now when the XPT took over 30-odd years ago. Poor track and alignment doesn't help.
Thank you for your insights! Painfully slow describes the journey perfectly 😅 one can only hope Aussie trains will get an upgrade soon. Thank you so much for watching my slow journey ☺️
No worries. I'm a former railway employee who has ridden the Melbourne to Sydney line regularly for the last 30-plus years, so I'm well aware of the shortcomings and the operational side of things.
That being said, rail is a (mostly) relaxing way to travel, and I happen to be taking the day XPT from Melbourne on Wednesday. Here's hoping no troubles.
Unfortunately on January 12th, the day train didn't depart Melbourne until 10:30am, due to being delayed by signal failures in northeast Victoria as a result of a copper theft.
I agree it is relaxing too BUT still it could be improved...thank you for sharing your knowledge! And I just booked my next trip to Canberra, this time first class because I'm quite curious what the difference will be!
Interesting from German perspective!
Thank you ☺️
It's worth noting that to have good railways a country must have high population densities .. of which Australia does not have. That train to Canberra is a disgrace.
I have to say I do agree 🫣🫣🫣
How Did You Like Canberra 🤔. My Home State Is Good & Crap. What Did You End Up Doing In Canberra 🤔
Hi I liked how quiet it was! And I do have a full Canberra episode here on my channel so you can see everything I did in one day. I don’t think I can attach the link to the video here but it you go to my channel and look at my latest videos you’ll find it 🙂 thank you for watching 🤩
XPT is a sad depressing joke last carriage refurb was 2008 slow very noisy 1st Class well yeah its essential (but crap) seeing central after 4 hours of constant squeaking, groaning and rattling of the carriage I thought I was transported back in time... apart from that its great
Haha yes I agree! Thanks for watching!
