Let's appreciate the significance of love, relationships, and family while we still have them. Looking back, I wish I had paid more attention to my wife. Since she departed, I've been battling depression relentlessly. Despite my sincere efforts to convey the depth of my love for her, she's determined to walk away. This has left me feeling utterly drained, struggling to function effectively at work. I'm overwhelmed by frustration and sorrow, yearning for her companionship.

Comparing your dad's alcoholism to what he was saying as a litmus stress test. When he said "starting point", it is synonymous to what we say is "rock-bottom". He really has something there. Thanks for sharing this episode, I really felt what he was saying.

"You have one job, take care of yourself."
    - Matthew Hussey
Excellent observation and I would offer a small phrase to add to that sentence:
"...so that you can take better care of other people."
We can't help others at our best if we feel our worst all the time. Also, how can people respect us if we don't even respect ourselves?

@MattHussey - you just described me to a T with the fear of starting over at 50 and accepting that I need to love myself to start taking little steps toward accepting I'm here and need to believe "The Best is Yet to Come". The rewards will come at a later time in my life.

Thank you Mr. Mylett for having him on your show. Mr. Hussey has such a beautiful soul. You can feel it in his passion for life growth. ❤ I heard him say turn off the TV and turn inward and work, work on you! If we all just put some real effort into our own souls imagine how we, as a collective, can turn things around?! ❤

I didn't know that loving myself first would open up so much about me that needed to heal, forgive, and understand that my parents did the best they could with what they knew. We are human. We make mistakes. I want to continue learning about self love to be able to love everyone around me better. Even though we haven't met in person, I can feel your love for all of us that follow you. Ed, you are not getting what Matt is saying. Loving yourself can be said in a different way. Use the word honor. When thinking about your children there are days you may not like their behavior but that doesn't mean you won't still commit to caring for them. You honor the responsibility to care for them. That is the verb term in what Matt is saying. Love is a commitment and requires us to show up no matter what we might be feeling. Think about how God loves you... Matt came to figure out that there is a greater level and this is the level we must commit to ourselves in order to honor the creation he made.
