"so.. bound for life, was it? how utterly inconvenient."
those were the words spoken by the rather blunt, aloof and, at times, cold Yaksha Adeptus by the name of Xiao. ever since he found out your and his soul were interwoven, thus making your fates cross over, he's been distant towards you when usually, he would be at least soft. but no, not anymore. and you felt as though it was your fault, only a bit though, yet you didn't let that hinder you.
"i wouldn't see it as that but rather a fateful bond, xiao. our paths have crossed and now, so did our fates. besides, your unspoken feelings towards me have been rather.. obvious as of late."
you then countered with a cheeky grin on your face as your right eyebrow rose as a reaction to his words. it wasn't that you took offence to what he told you; he's never been good at expressing his true emotions as humans were able to.
in response to your words, xiao staggered back from where he stood, his sharp eyes narrowed at you as a hint of rose covered both of his cheeks as, his already fair skin getting paler.
"i do not know what you're speaking of, mortal. there are no secrets such as 'unspoken feelings' i harbor towards *you*. do not assume that easily, okay?"
while xiao talked you could make out a quiet undertone of embarrassment and shyness in his voice since it grew slightly more quiet than before. his feelings were apparent to you now, if not more than ever. so you decided to be braver than him and stepped towards his figure.
"an adeptus is supposed to be incapable of developing romantic feelings. am i right or not? yet, here you are: denying what is only the truth. just tell me, xiao."
your calm voice echoed through the air and soon enough, your hand was outreached for his gloved beside him, a hopeful glimmer in your eyes as you gazed into his yellow ones. or tried to.
xiao, however, refused to look directly into your eyes and instead just scoffed in annoyance. he didn't expect you to be so bold right now, out of all times. after what felt like eternity, he finally voiced out his thoughts in a more serious manner, the blush now more apparent.
"fine. it seems there is no.. tactically effective way out of this predicament i've found myself in now. feelings.. are a human concept i could never fully grasp. yet in your presence, i somehow feel safe, comfortable.. as if i found a home in another individual. my heart beats uncontrollably whenever you're near, just like right this second. i.. suppose i found love in you.. happy?"
his answer didn't leave you dumbfounded or confused, purely content for you now had been confirmed what you've been assuming all this while. before you could reply, you grabbed his hand gently and brought it towards your chest, letting him hear your heartbeat.
"i feel the absolute same way, xiao. i have ever since we crossed paths 2 years ago and now.. finally, i can admit to those feelings. may i have the honor of being your partner.. for life?"
xiao's facial expressions softened up ever so slightly and, with an affirmative nod from him, he moved forward, with his forehead pressed against yours now. his breath fastened and you could hear it in your ears. then, while looking into his eyes, your lips found his in what could be described as a heavenly kiss. his hand that was in your hold stayed there, his other was placed onto your waist for stability and warmth.
"you're mine.. finally."
with that said, xiao smiled at you for the first time, ever. what a fateful moment..
i'm done !! let me know what u guys think about it (thoughts, comments, criticism; i'm open to anything, maybe even a part 2 if u really want it lol) and thanks for reading it all, i appreciate and love u ! 🩶

The gentle face of the moon peeked below at the serene display of two conflicted souls enjoying the softly misted wind of Liyue. The two of them said little under the speckled light of the stars, but both felt immeasurable comfort in one another. Each was thankful for the other’s presence, yet the strength of their conviction in their responsibilities barred them from truly setting themselves free. The heavenly principle of freedom was open to all those who are righteous in the land of Tayvat. However, for those who see themselves as tools bound by duty, liberty becomes as a cloud. Ethereal and recognizable, yet, completely inaccessible to those below. The path of a tool is stationary, and the hearts of the good are tumultuous. Only once the truth is realized, may both responsibility and freedom dance together amongst the flowers, but some are never meant to touch the clouds.
omg this is so beautifully written 🥺 thanks for this little story contribution (if it is supposed to be one !) i love it a lot

"Xiao..." you whisper, reaching your hand for him to notice you.
You seem to don't know how you end up here, after all. The reigning terror in the dimension you were in made you weak and helpless like it was draining energy from your body. You looked at your hands once again. Crimson rivers of blood, dark, almost like dry wine, cascaded down your hands, upper and lower body from several wounds you had.
A sharp, searing ache pierced through you, each throb echoing like a relentless drumbeat in the chaos. The pain coiled and tightened, an unyielding grip around your limbs. You could taste the stinging, metalic tang that lingered with every breath. Each movement was a struggle, as if your bones were crying out in protest, the agony they could scarcely endure.
Your body is trembling, as you tried to get up and help Xiao but it was more than impossible. You could only watch that poor man fighting a devil spirits of this world.
You looked down at his mask, split in half, left forgotten. You felt... hopeless. For the first time, despair's icy grip clenched your heart like you were a worthless, feelingless puppet. You take a big breath.
"Xiao..." you try once again and despite the dredful noises the creatures were making, he finally perceived your begings. He materialized beside you.
"What happened...?"
"They... I am so sorry." As the weight of you emotions became too heavy to bear, tears began to well up and flow slowly down your cheeks. With each drop that fell, your voice quivered, struggling to break through the sorrow. “I’m so sorry. You trusted me and now-” you murmured, words wrapped in a raw, aching vulnerability, as if each syllable was a plea for forgiveness and understanding.
"Look, you did well... Those are too powerful, even for me. But as a Yaksha... I must fight for this world"
You then hear his groan of pain. Scared, you disern a ghost that injured Xiao.
The temperature dropped as the ghost materialized, its form a shifting mass of shadow and mist. Your breath caught in your throat as you faced the spectral figure, its hollow eyes locked on you.
Without warning, the ghost lunged, sliced through the air. You swung at it, your fist passing through the ethereal body, only to feel an icy grip tighten around your chest and then, pain shots through you like freezing needles.
A sudden, suffocating darkness engulfed you, as if the air itself had turned to thick smoke. Your heartbeat thundered in your ears, growing louder with each passing second. You tried to fight it, but your limbs went numb, refusing to obey. The demon’s voice, a low, sinister whisper, echoed in your skull, drowning out your thoughts. You couldn't understand him, however. Your vision blurred, and a searing pain shot through your spine as the demon forced its way into your body. You gasped, your breath stolen as it took control, twisting your movements into something foreign and monstrous.
You were still there, trapped inside, but now bacame a prisoner within your own flesh.
"Hey!"
The air grew thick with an almost unbearable tension as an ominous pressure pressed down on your chests. There was something different now, something terrifyingly powerful about Xiao.
"Be careful now."
A blinding flash of energy erupted from him, a force so intense it sent you reeling. You shielded your eyes, struggling to stay on your feet as the shockwave blasted through the air. When you dared to look again, Xiao stood there, his back facing you, holding his spear tightly. You could see his savage gaze, his shaking in pure suffer arms.
His aura was radiating of pure, unbridled might. In that instant, it was clear: This was a power far beyond anything you had ever witnessed, and it left you awestruck and terrified.
"I deal in death. If you cannot bring yourself to kill, speak my name... Now, take my hand."
Your muscles tensed, but an invisible weight anchored them in place. Every instinct screamed to act, yet you body refused, paralyzed by unknown spirit inside you. Each breath felt heavy, watching his hand stretched in your direction.
He seized you hand in a swift, urgent grasp. You could feel the warmth of his touch on your paralyzed, cold body.
Gradually, your senses sharpened. The fog lifted, and the world snapped back into focus. Sounds grew distinct, and the warmth of his skin felt solid against yours. You took a deep breath, grounding yourself as clarity returned.
A sudden chill swept through the space as the ghost left your body. Xiao shuddered, sensing the icy presence drawing closer, but before he could react, the ghost lunged forward.
The room's temperature plummeted once again. A suffocating dread filled the air as the ghost materialized. You watched in horror as it drifted toward him, ghost's eyes hollow and filled with malice. Its ethereal hand shot out, passing through his chest like a cold blade. He gasped, eyes widening in pain, clutching at the invisible wound. A deep, black, unnatural bruise spread across his skin where the ghost had struck, as if the life was being drained from him. You stood frozen for a moment, helpless, as he staggered, his strength fading with each breath. The ghost loomed closer, its chilling aura growing stronger, and you knew that if you didn’t act soon, the next strike might be Xiao's last.
For a brief moment, he fought to stay in control, but the ghost's grip tightened, crushing his resistance. The last remnants of his consciousness faded.
The ghost lunged to make final hit but you quickly stood in his way. In the blink of an eye its eerie form blured through your body for a short while.
Gripping your iron rod, you swung hard, slicing through its misty body. The ghost screeched but recovered quickly, rushing forward. Its cold hand pierced your chest, freezing you to the core. Pain seared through you, but you retaliated, thrusting the rod into the ghost’s center. It shuddered violently, its form flickering. With one final swing, you tore through it, and the ghost faded into a whirlwind of smoke. Breathless, you stood exhausted as the air cleared.
You run to Xiao as soon as possible, despite the pain making you limp.
He looked at you, his gaze feeble like never.
"I'm sorry... It's only my fault I didn't protect you. It's my burden to carry."
The last thing you remember are your awareness fading away and Xiao's vague shriek...
I see an underrated creator, I make a POV for reach! Have a nice day yall
