What's great is that he definitely has an obvious Holdsworth influence, but it's clear he's not trying to completely cop Allan's sound. He has his own voice. He took some of Allan's ideas and is just doing his own thing with it.
Allan mentioned him in Guitar Player April 2008. I remembered it just awhile back and went and looked up the music. It definitely fills a void for me & it’s fresh. All Tim’s albums are winners. ✅
I'm absolutely no musical expert, but I immediately thought of Holdsworth when I first started watching this video. I think the similarity is Miller & Holdsworth are both from the same planet, which is light years away from Earth.
So beautiful! Calm and harmonically profound playing contrasts with permanently moving and pulsating groove (Nate Wood and Sam Minaie -wow!)...and it fits perfectly together! Thank You!!
You’re a saviour! There’s ten thousand bad holdsworth copycats out there who have the notes but lack the feel. Not saying that you’re a copycat because your music is unique but you got the notes and the feel. 🙏🙏
Just wow!👏… yeah, there’s the Holdsworth influence, but your touch is so incredible - such beautiful harmony! Been a fan for many years. I have a M6 on order (with the Autumn burst😉, and a few options). Beautiful guitar - been enjoying watching you play it to get a feel for the tonal possibilities. Love the A2 Beryllium pickups! Best wishes!
Amazing. It is always a joy to hear you play and watch the well made videos. And huge kudos to drums and bass too. Intelligent note choices from bass and groove for days from drums. You are a joy to listen to!
I think players go nuts with non-functional harmony where every chord is a non-sequitur and the melody lines seem designed to intentionally stress people out but you manage to capture the beauty of these choices that are unconventional but still make sense and are in service of connecting with the listener. I see people making Holdsworth comparisons, but those comparisons do a disservice to everyone and I like this playing much more.
@@fusionfan6883 Seriously. Holdsworth was/is the most beautiful, melodic, and other-worldly player/composer to have ever lived. Holdsworth was music itself incarnated. Nothing about him was "non-sequitur."
So fluid, and wonderfully balanced phrasing👏🔥. I just got my M6 Thursday - for some reason I can’t make it sound like this😂😁. Thanks for your artistry, Tim!
Tim, you won't remember me, but you were my guitar instructor at the south shore conservatory for a short time around 2005/2006. I stopped after a few months after feeling embarrassed and guilty for not practicing and wasting my parents money...oh the ignorance of youth... Anyways, flash forward to 2023 and Im with my girlfriend at the Plini show at the Paradise when he brings you on stage. It was difficult explaining the context around the abrupt existential crisis I suddenly found myself in to my girlfriend haha. What could have been if I had only siezed that opportunity 🥺 Amazing performance, by the way! (both Atlas and your appearance with Plini) Also - do you still play that Godin midi/synth guitar??
@jaffasam11 ok... thank you.. I heard of these guitars for sure. But I'm 54 and my day. Was a les paul or a 335 or super strat Kramer or Ibanez and etc. Keisel I have mixed emotions about. But I will check out the other one here
@@scottykingdavid i was going to get a 335 but now, ive decided on the M6. Headless guitars have just been convinient entirely. Today’s instrument for studied guitarists in my opinion. Check it out!
amazing. how does he get that acoustic wood tone alongside the amp sound? It’s everything I love about guitar and music 🙌🏽👏🏽

Not sure about this latest album, but on previous albums he recorded the clean sound alongside the amplified one. In other words, mic'd the electric guitar itself.
I don't think it's a copy of holdsworth. His runs are more even and neat and the interval choices are less random feeling. The finger tone and vibrato though are right from his school. I think his biggest innovation from Allan is leaning more heavily on a natural acoustic-like clean sound and like I said, just trimming the proverbial fat on all fronts, that's less excessive.
With respect, Tim is an outstanding player, no question, BUT, IMHO no one and I mean no one, has legato runs that are more even and neater than Allan Holdsworth. No one is even close to Holdsworth's genius. Let us not forget that Allan (along with Ollie Halsall) invented this way of playing. I am pretty sure that Tim would agree.
Fabulous complex composition and chord movement. Such clean skill in both hands. I'd have preferred development of a slower theme in the solo and more understated drums, but mastery nonetheless.
Allan is watching from somewhere and is very proud

100%
Or frank zappa. He loved Alan
Tim shares the musical DNA of Allan Holdsworth - brilliant!

Love it when the player's personality comes out so much. This, for me, is what jazz is all about.
one of the best in this business.
to me the best guitarist alive.
I really like how the guitar sits. It just looks so comfortable to play.
Beautiful phrasing & composition, VERY tasty stuff Tim & stellar work from Nate & Sam👌
This is one of my faves from this album. The band is great as well.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you!
Great job. Beautiful solo…
This song reminds a bit me of Zarabeth by Allan Holdsworh…
Already a legend
My teacher and forever inspiration!
A beautiful mix of Metheny’s and Holdsworth’s lyricism
Love the production here! Music is top notch as always as well
Thanks! Steve Hunt mixed and mastered this recording.
one of the most satisfying to listen to guitar sounds..
mind = blown

What a tone !
this tune has taken me to another place
I really like that composition and hearing you play it on the new Tim Miller signature Kiesel. Thanks for posting that!
Thanks for listening!

That acoustic sounding tone is amazing! How do you achieve that?
Beautiful as always
I appreciate that!

Love the 🎹-like cluster chords and melody lines (and that chimey Holdsworth tone), then the awesome solo .... wow!
Awsome track. Couldn't do it better myself 😉
Brilliant!
Beautiful piece of music.
Beautiful track, love the chords and the solo.
Very nice phrasing 😃. Holdsworth & Gambale mix. Thanks from México.

Exquisite work!
Espectacular Tim!!
A masterpiece
Audio engineer is Steve Hunt... I assume he's the AH buddy Mr. Hunt. Cool.
I wondered that too!
Wow 💥💥💥 this is too good 👍🏽👍🏽
Love it! Modernity exemplefied!
Beautiful!
Super!!!
Great legato...
Simply amazing!!! Such beautiful playing!!!
Innovation 👏 👏👏
Nice chord voicings. I was able to get lost in the music and not think about theory... until the song ended haha.
I really love tune Tim
Always beautiful playing from Tim! ❤
Soooo lucky to have found this video! You're amazing at playing the guitar man! Keep up!
Most refreshing sound!

Why on earth is a Holdsworth comparison a disservice, you should be honoured???

The master of harmony. Beautiful tone as always! ❤
This is really inspiring
Tim Miller is what happens when you combine Metheny, Holdsworth, and Eric Johnson. Super cool guy too.
Tim this is amazing!
Outstanding ❤
Keep it going ! This is the stuff .. like the idea's in your music

so good!
I'm working this one out as we speak.....🎶🎸
Pretty sure I'll have it down by 2040
My next Kiesel will definitely be the TM M6!
Nice well considered work as always, Tim! Whats the signal chain/gear you use in studio& live?
Beautiful playing!
Woa, master you rule
Gorgeous, one of the best ever!
Amazing piece!!
Amazing, Love the Sound ❤
I like Allan Holdsworth, so I like this too.

Is that Tory Slusher on drums? Cool licks mang! 🤘😔🎸🤘😔🎸🤘😔🎸🤘😔🎸🤘😔🎸
The incomparable Nate Wood
Thanks for all Tim ❤
Beautiful composition and playing! what guitar synth are you using? A Roland VG99?
That's a beautiful instrument there. Semi hollow looks like..?.. is this the same brand as plini uses ?
Plini plays a Strandberg Boden. Tim here is using a Kiesel M6. Both gorgeous guitars.
