I find this comparison really interesting. The two brands share some similarities but also behave quite differently in some ways. I don't blame people for feeling put off by the prevalence of multi-pigment blends - especially when taking into consideration the hefty price.
Mission Gold's Single Pigment set is amazing! Some of the best and shocking. I own Holbein, Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, M. Graham, Schminke, Sennilier, etc., and am shocked by the gold box/Mijello Mission Gold's Single Pigment set! I'm currently acquiring all 50 color in the line. Wish me luck!
I love these kinds of videos, even though they make me want to buy more watercolors. What might be interesting is to compare brands that have common characteristics. For example, honey-based brands, or vegan brands, or those with ox-gall (ick.)
Aww thank you so much, I really enjoy making them. Thank you for the good idea, I’m going to try doing the same painting with different paints and I could incorporate your idea into that.
May I ask which you would recommend for more moody like watercolor paintings yet with some vibrancy between the two ? o: I’m still stump on these two, I currently have the Shinhan artist grade watercolors ~ and wanted to try something new. Or if you also have your own paints that you would recommend that you thoroughly enjoy ^^ ?
I think the Mijello burnt sienna and burnt umber are actually very nice colors but, in my opinion, they're just not how a burnt sienna and umber should be. That PY174 is really lovely. I've never tried it before but now I want to risk out and get it. That Mijello Yellow Ochre looks very strange. Looks a lot less yellow than I remember.
I agree with you, they are actually are nice colours but terrible for mixing. The yellow ochre is horrible, really muddy looking lol The PY174 is beautiful, honestly it’s the nicest cool yellow I own, I’m going to do another video with it maybe comparing it to all my other cool yellows.

Aww thanks, it’s a shame with Mission Gold as I do like them but I’m not forking out more money for the pure pigment set.
