    Direct. To the point. No extra crap steps, no yodeling, no extra supplies to buy, no pretense. THANK YOU for making this.

    Thanks for the video.. I only watched 2 videos on how to use a french press.. the first one was way too complicated. The barista was like you need 1) kitchen scale 2) coffee grinder 3) a timer ... 4) then he poured the hot water into the press 5) dumped that water out (pretty pointless) 6) put the coffee grinds into the press 7) poured water into the press but only enough to cover the grinds 8) waited 30 seconds 9) then filled the press with more water etc etc

      ha.. That video auto switched to this one for me. "How to Use a French Press | Perfect Coffee" @ channel "HowcastFoodDrink" lol..

      yes, I watched the more complicated video and found this to be much better. I don't need to pre-warm my coffee press to enjoy a cup of coffee.

      I just watched that same video and said screw that and came to this one, which is much more straightforward. I can see if you're holding a formal dinner or something it would be useful, but just for making for myself for everyday... nope, not going through all that.

    I'm in love with your water pot - that you used to heat the water - can you share which brand it is and where you got it?

    I thought you were supposed to put the lid on and let the coffee steep for 4 minutes and then plunge.

    Correction: The ACTUAL preferred proportions is 2 Tbsp coffee for 6oz water. This is according to the official French studies that occurred in France during the later part of the 19th Century, circa 1886.

    • @douge1125
      @douge1125 7 років тому +2

      Jay Taylor That French study is old bud, as for the coffee also. If you were able to travel back in time and compare coffee and the water against today's coffee and water it's completely fucking different. That's why it's the way he said it was..now. Now over 100 years ago. But he did this whole process pretty much wrong to make it the best way possible

      I've worked nights for several years and everyone on shift always requests I make the coffee/tea.
      He didn't pour just under half the water and let it bloom up. After a few seconds you give it a stir and then cover and let sit for about 30 seconds. Then pour the rest of the water in slowly and brew to your liking (I usually wait 10 mins). You can also scoop the cake from the top just before plunging (not just stir it in). I like having a bit of grounds in my coffee--I also like it luke warm and not hot.
      Coffee is a lot easier than tea.

    This is the dumb-ed down version. However, if the results are good enough for you and it's much quicker who needs all those stinkin steps?

    Articles on coffee say not to use the French press because it retains cafestol in the coffee which is is not good. On the other hand I despise the complexity of electric makers and find them harder to use than the press. I do not understand all that complicated engineering just for a coffee. I can make a decent cup on the press so I have decided a while back I would never get an electric coffee machine. It was not that long ago when I wondered whether I should upgrade to one although now I dont care and never will in my life

    I just don't see the point of a French Press! Heat the water, pour, wait 4 minutes for one cup to steep.. Nah. My coffee maker has four awesome cups awaiting me when I'm awake! This would make me insane, and a tablespoon for every 4 ounces?!?! That's wicked strong!! I'll stick with my drip pot! 😊😊

      Can you post a video how to make one? I'm actually thinking about buying one and every video has the same comments telling everyone they have no clue how to make a French press? Is there a correct way? Because 0 people know how to make them on UA-cam I guess.
