The Guess brand is a line that produces clothing for men, women and kids, as well as accessories such as watches, belts and handbags. If you think you may have a counterfeit Guess item, there are several steps you can take to determine whether your article of clothing or accessory is fake or real. Paying attention to the quality of the item, the labeling and the manufacturer's product line will help you separate the real from the fake.
Read the manufacturer's tag on the item and get the product number or name. Visit the Guess website and do a search for the item to ensure it is cataloged as part of the Guess line (see Resources).
Examine the quality of the item. Guess products are generally well-crafted and shouldn't have frayed seams or cheap-looking faux leather. Also, the stitches on the item should be tightly sewn; poor stitching is a sign of a fake Guess product.
Look inside the item if it is a handbag. All Guess handbags have a fabric lining. The bag also must have an official Guess logo on the outside as well as on the zipper.
Look at the tag if the item is an article of clothing. The trademarked Guess logo with a triangle around it should be found on the tag.
Check the Guess logo and that any stitching is evenly spaced and neatly finished. New Guess handbags feature a tag inside detailing style number and manufacturing information. Check that the style number matches the number on the packaging sticker. Check the stitching on a Guess handbag very carefully.
Common ways of spotting fakes are:
Missing or wrong printing on labels
    No security devices, like micro-stitching
    Incorrectly stamped riveting
    Poor-quality stitching
    Poor-quality material
    Incorrect inseam length
Fake designer brand jeans are spotted by examining where the counterfeiters have failed to reproduce coloring, style or security devices. It's not enough to find one problem, but rather finding numerous flaws in the clothing which 'adds up' to help you authenticate the jeans.

I have a pair of GUESS jeans that I purchased in the early '80s. They are button fly, tapered leg with leather insert front pockets and no rear pockets. The Grid tag is a blue GUESS for men and shows Lot 141; Cut 385. The rear triangle label is the GUESS® Paris Washed Jeans?variety and is positioned on the belt line. Let me know where I can send pics for authentication. Thanks.
