This interview was really well conducted and felt truly organic. Every minute was delightful. I ended up with a refined musical taste and a stronger love for humanity.
this is great. as a hetero man who was "on the outside" for other reasons, I find a lot of wisdom here. I like how Mike says "you just dont care anymore" My favorite quote is TS Eliot "teach us to care, and not to care"
Hey Mike, do you know that your song "Die for you" was used in Netflix Wentworth when a woman was killed?? It's the 1st time I heard of you or the song..I cried as the emotion was so strong when a belived inmate was dying.
We need to move out of the suburbs and back into the city.. god am I feeling that. Never more strongly have I felt so squeezed out of a location. So unwelcome and other and suffocated. So many Years of trying to make it here, raising kids here, and now for it to have come to a sense of quits... yeah. My kids and I need the city. Need. I hope you find your place too...
Love it! good interview, I get to understand this amazing artist and see him vulnerable yet at the same time empowered by his art, inspires me to create more stuff of my own. Thanks!
I listen and watch the Die 4 u video every other day. The video is beautiful. Mike is beautiful. The colliding voices are beautiful. So happy this interview is out!! I just listen to mike whenever I can and he helped me get thorough and currently go though the levels of everyday life. ❤️❤️🏳️🌈
I love Perfume Genius. So cathartic and freeing. Thank you for your music 🙏😌🧡✌️Also, I feel the same about needing to be in the city around diversity. It doesn't feel safe in the burbs - never did
Mike is the perfect musician, and the perfect human being. I'm in love with everything about this sound. Anyone who ever teases or makes fun of you? Come tell me. I'll take care of them. *Wink.
@@pablovandres oh I'm confused. Someone introduced me to his music saying he's a trans guy ( FtM). Now that I've looked into him I don't see any mention of this on his wiki, so I guess my friend was mistaken
@@aliasjon8320 It's alright, there's a lot of ignorance out there, maybe your friend just believed it without checking. He's just a femenine guy, that's all. :P
too much personal and profound questions, nothing wrong about it, but a question like if he prefers ketchup or mayonnaise on his fries would have lift the spirit up a little, oh well.. x)
I kinda agree; I think a nice balance of insightful questions is necessary as well as having some light-hearted questions peppered throughout to relieve some of the emotional build-up. :)
I love how engaged the interviewer is with Mike. It feels like an intimate conversation. It's all very natural and comfortable.
Makeda B I totally ship them.
I think this interviewer might be Tom Power? :)
"..you know..."
"No.."

I've been waiting for some interviews about this amazing album!!! Such an epic, large sound 'slip away' has, and 'die 4 u' is on another level!
Saw him live in Sydney and feel so privileged. Performance was amazing and between the tracks he was so charming and funny with the audience.

How did he come up with the name for the band, perfume genius?
Someone can tell me what band are they talking about, which they both listened to?
Perfume genius: fascinating /Great Interviewer: would be a better writer/ questions are lumpy
The last artists this impressive are The Dandy Warhols and Adele.
Anyone know what band he called bland?
Well, I write about the past cuz the future is only getting worse...
🥚👼🏻
He looks like a gay Christian Slater
Men are genius, sensitive creative genius. And I mean, men, les hommes, males, XY.
In his case he's XX tho
