Her voice is beautiful. So clear I hear every single word. Just beautiful.
No other band than ABBA can get our feelings in swing! They are MASTERS at stiring up our feelings!
Her delivery comes across as so authentic and heartfelt because it actually happened. The song was written by her husband who is also in the band and their separation. I did not realize this when it came out in the 70s. It feels much more powerful to me with this context. Thanks for reacting to this great song!
No, it was not about their separation. Björn has said that it was about divorce, but not their divorce. He said: "It is the experience of a divorce, but it's fiction. There wasn't a winner or a loser in our case. A lot of people think it's straight out of reality, but it's not."
He cheated on her with her best friend and singing partner. What else would he say. She has said the pain was real when she sang it.

The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of one of their lead singer, the blonde Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice
The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce,
it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978
the Official Video, with more than 110 millions views in UA-cam, was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song
(it shows the blonde singer Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times, and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings)
It's the first ABBA vídeo with images in black and white about Their previous history, to introduce us in the context; I think it's their best official video
but just as a great performance by Agnetha is seen in these video, almost like a dramatic actress, transmitting the sorrow, anguish and pain,

They are so much more, as you eloquently wrote, a pop band. They are my favorite “ band” of all time. ELO comes in second, and Agnetha is my second favorite singer of all time, right after Olivia.

Karen Carpenters & Agnetha Fältskog (both borm in 1950)

Agnetha and Björn in ABBA didn´t comment their divorce in any other way. This song was the only information they gave their fans. And we didn´t believe it at first. Not Agnetha and Björn?! The beautiful successful couple?! But it was true. Now, many years later, I understand her sorrow in a way I couldn´t as teenager.
