Belyakov is now one of my favourite male Bolshoi dancers - along with Lantratov. He has both great jumping and wonderful artistic interpretation. I have watched this version of Bluebird over and over..
Sheer perfection. What a delightful couple. I could not imagine it performed any better. So true to the spirit of the ballet, gay and light-hearted. Bravo!

Being able to learn princess Florines variation is beyond exciting. The variation is truly gorgeous and definitely one of the best. Truly perfection, and that cannot be taken away.

I have a feeling she hadn't broken in her pointe shoes (enough), there was some squeaking and you could hear her landings like a clunk, and the choreography wasn't particuarly birdlike. They did however look very graceful
At. 5.22, ballerina is not completing arm extension and brings it too close to body too soon. I have seen some dancers make that particular move a little more theatrical with more arm positioning. Beautiful, otherwise.
Music tempo is decided by the choreographer and director. The conductor cannot change the tempo of the music if they feel like it, especially because the dancers were rehearsing at a different tempo and would mess up.
The gorgeous costumes of Franca Squarciapino. It is not surprising that her works received the most prestigious awards "Oscar" and "Cesar", as well as the prize of the English critics and the Italian "Silver Ribbon".
I wish the choreography for her had more bird like fluttering and nuances. Cant they add things? It never seemed very bird like, this dance. Shes an amazon! Those legs!
This whole thing looks like its in slow motion. In fact,, it IS in slow motion. This sluggish tempo is awful. Watch at 1.25 speed and everything is better and musically correct.
Why did they take this tempo? Makes it so heavy. And blue birds don't call that slowly! I always thought this pas de deus was all about speed and bravura...And the coda is supposed to be gaining speed throughout to build excitement. Take it out and it's not there.
Perfection that leaves us speechless. Bluebird doesn't get any better than this. A perfect melding of art and heart.
