Yes - I loved Ostreikovskaya in my favourite fairy variation, too! Three great debuts from Oksana, Tiliguzova and Nadia! Nadia is so well suited as Violente and Oksana does just light up the stage. This was one of the best groups of fairies I have ever seen and Yulia just amazing with those gorgeous curving, flowing arms.

You have said it perfectly! That is what I felt watching it - I was really seeing the fairy tale brought to life. *Every* fairy was wonderful but especially, for me, Yulia, Oksana and Ksenia! It is really a dream to see this beautiful production with its exquisite lighting, sets and costumes!
This is my absolute favorite role that I've seen Stepanova dance- she is so majestic and commands the stage. All the fairies were beautiful- Marchuck is a great breadcrumb fairy, Batoeva is wonderful and Ostreikovskaya is like a dream
Yulia was already really good in her debut performance, but here she is just perfect! The fairies are too good in this though: there should be a special show one day with Marchuk as Aurora in the first act, Stepanova as Aurora in the second act and Bateova as Aurora in the third act: that would be completely awesome!!!

Xenia Ostreykovskaya, a consummate artist, one of the best artists of ballet on the planet Earth. Here, however, the centre of attention is Yulia Stepanova, along with Alla Osipenko perhaps the greatest Lilac Fairy ever. Her part is much more difficult, both technically and in terms of expression. This is a signature performance studied by many young ballerinas as a model to follow. Yulia wasn't even 7 years old when Xenia was already dancing at Mariinsky, so Xenia in this recording was a very experienced danser. Even today, in 2019, she still remais one of the glories of the Mariinsky ballet, together with Svetlana Ivanova.
Completely distorts the original Petipa choreography. All the raves are from fans who are ignorant of the original. BTW, I believe it is Yulia Makhalina, not Strapanova as the Lilac Fairy
Yes and his Prologue and most of the vision act has been rightly criticized for years. In the late 1980s they revised the vision scene to conform more to the original Petipa version but not until the 1890 revival by Sergei Vikharev (in 1999) was Petipa's original choreography seen in Russia for the frst time in over 90 years@@TaliaTelloYogaDance

It is Yulia Stepanova dancing, 100% sure! The version is of Sergeyeev, the one Mariinsky has been staging from the Kirov's time.
