One of my pals calls them Christers, i call them Gods national guard, 2 weeks a year. The Catholic church even has Mass on days other than Christmas and Easter, and get this- even on some days that are not a Sunday. The world will regret turning it's back to God.

You are talking about human nature here. People always feel sad when something they always thought would be there suddenly will no longer be there. This is what you were seeing. As you said, it is too bad they didn't attend the church all along and support it if they wanted it to stay. I hope they attend the next church they mentioned at the end of the video. Then it has a chance of staying open. But it is human nature to take something for granted and then feel sad when someone realizes they are now losing it.
This should be a warning to all Catholics. If you leave religious instruction up to the church, your kids will not carry it with them nor will you have priests. If you want your church to remain, you must support it financially. Maintenance is expensive but necessary.
If only the Vatican actually do good finance. No longer religious but it annoys me to no end that our parish church is still under construction for 5+ years now coz it's reliant on local donations. Meanwhile the similar sized cult temple beside it took less than a year to build coz they draw funds from the entire country (and overseas) and use that to build temples wherever they want.

There are 72 million Catholics in America. How can a church close for lack of funds in a Christian country? There are a lot of people who make billions by trading bitcoins, options, stocks etc. Did the church leaders and community approach them? A fund could have been created. Income from the fund could have been used to run the church. Something is missing here. People should come together to stop the sale of land. Churches keep communities together. Local government should take initiative to protect the church.
Those money that were collected, the church pays for child abused children and have the hierarchy of the church to have a better life. Now use that close church to house the homeless.

I grieve for Saint Andrew’s Church in Bayonne, NJ. Comments are criticizing people who do not go to Mass or do anything for the church. My friends and I are extremely involved in our Catholic parish, Saint Catharine of Siena Church, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and all of its activities to keep it going. Just yesterday, we met to sew new altar linens. Some of us prepared a fundraiser for Pregnancy Center West during October - Respect Live Month. Our music is magnificent, with choral pieces such as “Ave Verum Corpus” by Mozart after Communion. If you live near Cincinnati and would like to attend Mass in a church that is as beautiful as Saint Andrew’s in Bayonne, NJ, and hear magnificent, sublime music EVERY Sunday, come to Saint Catharine’s! If you cannot come here, please get involved in your local parish and keep it alive. And, please everyone pray for vocations!

Likewise that hope that Pope John XXIII expressed that the faith would be taught “with every greater clarity and without attenuation” has not happened, but rather the opposite. Look at the numbers of vocations to the priesthood and relgious life before and after Vatican 2. Look at the number of seminaries closed and relgious houses for lack of numbers.
In Indonesia, people even continue to hold mass in old and rickety church buildings, and in fact, there are still Christians who pray outside because licensing for church construction is difficult for the local government. As a Catholic from Indonesia, this makes me very sad.

In similar vein I feel great sadness when the village Methodist chapel was closed down. They were down to a congrgation of five and no resident pastor. My mother's funeral was conducted in that chapel. Now it has been demolished.
Most churches bent the knee and denied liberty of conscience to their church members which then they couldn't get a religious exemption and had to lose their job or take the jab, in fact the pope supported and promoted the jab so most catholics had no choice as well as many Protestant churches did the same, of course their were a few outliers but majority bent the knee in the first test run, and as history serves any purpose they will do it again on a scale so grand we will never know what hit us.

Catholics need to take control of their churches. They need to buy them as a group and manage them as a group. It's only done will they begin to understand the mechanics behind saving their Church building. Because when they buy their Church building, that means commitment on their part, that means savings spent on their Church. It's a shame, because the Church was once built on faith, Catholics gave freely to support their Church to make sure that all are active members.

So that means that the Church is fully human and fully divine. The fully divine part is the Holy Spirit that came upon the apostles at Pentecost and has never left. The fully human part are the members of the Church that consume the flesh and blood of Christ and are inspired by his word to do the good works that were already created in advance by God, they simply enter into those good works to do the will of the Father. It's heartbreaking to see churches close, but it's a reminder that we can't always leave the work of spreading the Gospel and supporting the Church to "someone else." If we don't take ownership of our faith, through active participation, volunteering, and support, the Church will suffer. It's ironic that so many attend the final Masses yet didn’t invest the time or effort to keep these parishes alive when it counted. If we want vibrant communities, we need to be part of the solution, not just mourn the loss.
My question is why wasn’t the church full like this every Sunday? Don’t cry and wail and complain now! Had all these people attended Mass the church wouldn’t have closed. I grew up in Union City and went to St. Michaels Grammar School and it broke my heart when I heard the Monastery was sold and the school closed. So profoundly sad. We have lived I. The Cleveland, Ohio area for forty years and are blessed with vibrant and growing Catholic Churches all over.

We are still waiting for that promised great renewal of the church promised by the Second Vatican Council. Up to 1970 our church was packing them in with standing room only at the principal Sunday Mass with some people standing in the baptistery, the stairs of the belfry or the porch. Not these days.
@@paulbastier3773 I grew up in the old church. The sixties unleashed frustration over wars, lying governments, discrimination and violence toward minorities, hypocrisy and more. Then clerical abuse (long standing and covered up and tolerated in the great old TLM church) was the final straw. People decided to think more for themselves, got caught up in making money (the American way), realized the priest had nothing to say on a Sunday morning, and so decided to do other things, like go to football games and tail gate or travel for sports competitions.

Meanwhile a lot of churches here in the Philippines have to own a lot of extra chairs for the attendees outside of our local churches considering we always have high attendance and our pews being full during Sundays even until the last mass of the day. I really hope and pray a lot of people in the West especially in the US have a spiritual awakening in a secular and godless society.... Without its laity, the Church wouldn't exist.

Something similar happened to a parish near Pittsburgh. The younger people got yuppified and moved to trendier neighborhoods. Only old people were attending. Not enough money was coming in to pay for the insurance, electricity, water, and heat. The diocese closed the parish and you should have heard the wailing and sobbing!
Sorry to hear of St Andrew the Apostle Church closing in Bayonne. It is a beautiful building with especially beautiful stained-glass windows and generally an inspiring place for worship. I grew up on Staten Island which is just south of Bayonne across the Kill Van Kull. will
If God’s House was full this way every Sunday and every day Holy Mass was celebrated, this House of God would never shut? What will be done with the finances from this Church? People in the West and europe get off your couches, comfort zone and drugs before more and more Houses of God shut down. Follow all God’s Commandments “for your own sake and your loved ones” and defend your marriages, spouses and children, so stop adultery, divorce and all sins that prevent procreation in marriage and having large families like we used to till the 60s.
No church should close its doors like this. Whatever the attendance, all efforts are to made to keep it opened. With the organization and funds of the Catholic church, this should never happen.
Its weird how so many beautiful historical churches are closing. England’s Cathedrals don’t shut down. We don’t hear of other European churches closing.
Churches are closing or being burned down all over France. It’s actually happening in a lot of places. And in Europe, Canada, the US. Norte Dame in Paris was not an accident.
In France specifically, all churches before 18XX (cant rmbr the exact year), are property of the State and not the Church. Many are also protected properties. So all upkeep and maintenance is on the State to provide. In England, the Church and State are the same.

It depends. Most Churches that close are actually being sold for home or office buildings, some for other Protestant Faiths, a few for other religions.

Similar happened in the churches of the UK. It was not asked for or wanted by the majority of the people but experimental litugy was in charge and it was as the the late Pope Benedict said "a time when anything goes". Now we are seeing the results of that "wind of change" that Vatican 2 brought us.

I am so sorry that your church is closing. It is hard to accept these things. I went through this when I saw schools close and catholic nursing homes were sold. What is happening? Can we pray the rosary together for acceptance and ability to adjust? The changes I survived are still upsetting me but it gets easier in time. I understand and feel your sadness.
We always blame others when things happen, but the church hierarchy should look inwardly and ask why it’s happening, because they have lost credibility by shielding those that are predators and maligning the victims. I only wonder how many times the churchgoers were warned that their parish would soon close if it didn't have enough to support itself.

There are 72 million Catholics in America. How can a church close for lack of funds in a Christian country? There are a lot of people who make billions by trading bitcoins, options, stocks etc. Did the church leaders and community approach them? A fund could have been created. Income from the fund could have been used to run the church. Something is missing here. People should come together to stop the sale of land. Churches keep communities together. Local government should take initiative to protect the church.
Each parish is solely responsible for the funding of the Church building and it's expenses.
Those money that were collected, the church pays for child abused children and have the hierarchy of the church to have a better life. Now use that close church to house the homeless.

Just yesterday, we met to sew new altar linens. Some of us prepared a fundraiser for Pregnancy Center West during October - Respect Live Month. Our music is magnificent, with choral pieces such as “Ave Verum Corpus” by Mozart after Communion. If you live near Cincinnati and would like to attend Mass in a church that is as beautiful as Saint Andrew’s in Bayonne, NJ, and hear magnificent, sublime music EVERY Sunday, come to Saint Catharine’s! If you cannot come here, please get involved in your local parish and keep it alive. And, please everyone pray for vocations!

Look at the numbers of vocations to the priesthood and relgious life before and after Vatican 2. Look at the number of seminaries closed and relgious houses for lack of numbers.
In Indonesia, people even continue to hold mass in old and rickety church buildings, and in fact, there are still Christians who pray outside because licensing for church construction is difficult for the local government. As a Catholic from Indonesia, this makes me very sad.

So many Catholic churches are being torn down and no new ones are being built. It is really a sad situation.
Some are being turned into mosques, bars and resturants of simply accommodation. One Gothic church in my village was turned into apartments.

It's heartbreaking to see churches close, but it's a reminder that we can't always leave the work of spreading the Gospel and supporting the Church to "someone else." It's ironic that so many attend the final Masses yet didn’t invest the time or effort to keep these parishes alive when it counted. If we want vibrant communities, we need to be part of the solution, not just mourn the loss.

My question is why wasn’t the church full like this every Sunday? Don’t cry and wail and complain now! Had all these people attended Mass the church wouldn’t have closed. I grew up in Union City and went to St. Michaels Grammar School and it broke my heart when I heard the Monastery was sold and the school closed. So profoundly sad. We have lived I. Things are no different, yet due to difference in inventions we have so much more at our disposal. Therefore this judgement will be terrifying!
We are still waiting for that promised great renewal of the church promised by the Second Vatican Council. Up to 1970 our church was packing them in with standing room only at the principal Sunday Mass with some people standing in the baptistery, the stairs of the belfry or the porch. Not these days.
@@paulbastier3773 I grew up in the old church. The sixties unleashed frustration over wars, lying governments, discrimination and violence toward minorities, hypocrisy and more. Then clerical abuse (long standing and covered up and tolerated in the great old TLM church) was the final straw. People decided to think more for themselves, got caught up in making money (the American way), realized the priest had nothing to say on a Sunday morning, and so decided to do other things, like go to football games and tail gate or travel for sports competitions.

It is every catholic's duty to support your local parish.
We see this happening too often. Hearts are broken but not more than the Lord's. Faith is being replaced by technology & just trying to survive. All is possible with God. We need to believe this again.

This is so sad 💔.... Meanwhile a lot of churches here in the Philippines have to own a lot of extra chairs for the attendees outside of our local churches considering we always have high attendance and our pews being full during Sundays even until the last mass of the day.

Something similar happened to a parish near Pittsburgh. The younger people got yuppified and moved to trendier neighborhoods. Only old people were attending. Not enough money was coming in to pay for the insurance, electricity, water, and heat. The diocese closed the parish and you should have heard the wailing and sobbing!
Sorry to hear of St Andrew the Apostle Church closing in Bayonne. It is a beautiful building with especially beautiful stained-glass windows and generally an inspiring place for worship. I grew up on Staten Island which is just south of Bayonne across the Kill Van Kull. will
If God’s House was full this way every Sunday and every day Holy Mass was celebrated, this House of God would never shut? What will be done with the finances from this Church?
People in the West and europe get off your couches, comfort zone and drugs before more and more Houses of God shut down. Follow all God’s Commandments “for your own sake and your loved ones” and defend your marriages, spouses and children, so stop adultery, divorce and all sins that prevent procreation in marriage and having large families like we used to till the 60s.

No church should close its doors like this. Whatever the attendance, all efforts are to made to keep it opened. With the organization and funds of the Catholic church, this should never happen.
Its weird how so many beautiful historical churches are closing. England’s Cathedrals don’t shut down. We don’t hear of other European churches closing.
In Europe most countries support the Church through taxation unlike in the USA.
Churches are closing or being burned down all over France. It’s actually happening in a lot of places. And in Europe, Canada, the US. Norte Dame in Paris was not an accident.
In France specifically, all churches before 18XX (cant rmbr the exact year), are property of the State and not the Church. Many are also protected properties. So all upkeep and maintenance is on the State to provide. In England, the Church and State are the same.

It depends. Most Churches that close are actually being sold for home or office buildings, some for other Protestant Faiths, a few for other religions.

What is really sad is the VII wreckage of that church. High altar and side altars ripped out.
Similar happened in the churches of the UK. It was not asked for or wanted by the majority of the people but experimental litugy was in charge and it was as the the late Pope Benedict said "a time when anything goes". Now we are seeing the results of that "wind of change" that Vatican 2 brought us.

While this is sad, have they been supportive of the parish over the years? That is going to Mass, attending to the needs of the Parish, participating in various ministries. Financially, catholics, who give, only give 1.1% of their household income, on average. With their pastor parishioners are summoned to take responsibility for their parish.

I am so sorry that your church is closing. It is hard to accept these things. I went through this when I saw schools close and catholic nursing homes were sold. What is happening? Can we pray the rosary together for acceptance and ability to adjust? The changes I survived are still upsetting me but it gets easier in time. I understand and feel your sadness.
We always blame others when things happen, but the church hierarchy should look inwardly and ask why it’s happening, because they have lost credibility by shielding those that are predators and maligning the victims. Their credibility has eroded overtime that this situation is slowly becoming the norm rather than an exception.
