Easily one of most well executed, professional level, pocket 4k videos I've seen, and I've seen them all I think. Sound was superb, how did you acquire audio...boom mic to camera or to separate recorder, zoom type recorder to camera or separate, later synched in post maybe, etc, etc? Much thanks, easy thumbs up.
Pete, thank you! I will pull back the curtain on this production!: We each recorded our instrument and vocal parts and created an audio track first that I mixed and mastered. Then we basically lip synced to the recorded song and did about 9 takes all the way through. I, the dad (cajon player), shot the rest of the family (all shots with me not in it), and then we did three takes with me in the shot and my buddy behind the camera. I then edited the footage together and added the crickets and fire crackling to create the audio atmosphere. The idea was to come off as a live performance, but it was just Hollywood trickery! ;) I am going to work on another short this weekend while my daughter is still home from school and I will be using a boom directly into the Pocket 4K.
@@skyvistaproductions118 Can't thank you enough for the detailed reply. Seems like you and your fine family did some serious pro level time consuming work to produce such a seamless video. Looking foward to your next upload.
wow, came here for the camera... left with a beautiful memory. Super talented lovely family. Thanks for sharing! PS, did you also do the audio recording? Great job there too..
Owl Muso, thank you very much! I did record the audio as well - thanks! There’s a complete explanation in my reply to Pete49327 about how we shot this.
Daryl Canaya, thank you! I used only available light, which was the larger, cafe lights strung above the fire, the Christmas lights (which were not much), the light of the fire and the full moon. I tried to use angles and position people to best take advantage of that light.
@@skyvistaproductions118 That's the best use of available light and practicals that I've seen for something like this. It looks like you've lit it deliberately. Super work.
Christoper, thanks! No, no NR used. All the outside shots were likely 400 or under. The one inside shot was 800. I wouldn't expect bad noise at 1250 - that's the reset of the second of the dual native ISO.
@@skyvistaproductions118 Gotcha, Yea I haven't tried 3:1 / 4:1 yet only Lossless RAW, and the noise i've been getting is terrible which someone explained to me that its because its straight up RAW. I've worked & shot with red r3d files and have never had that issue , Curious if 3; 1 / 4: 1 fix that crazy noise issue
@@skyvistaproductions118 Wow, you pulled that off so well! Ray Terry, yes, all us, but prerecorded. Rode NT1 condenser through a Focusrite Scarlett interface. Cakewalk Sonar Studio software and mastered with iZotope Ozone.

looks very soothing, can you please tell us the process of color grading or any tutorial on that please, please
Thanks! I basically make curve adjustments for contrast and apply a LUT I created. The LUT is listed on this year's Christmas video.
Great!

Your daughters have excellent vocals! How were these vocals recorded? It sounds so clean!
Who wrote the harmony structure????
avalanwa, thank you! We used a Rode condenser mic. The girls do the harmonies on the fly-it’s crazy!
