- In August 1991, Philadelphia Phillies closer Mitch Williams accomplished a set of feats that had never been done before, or since. For the amount of times he won and saved games, it will perhaps never be matched by anyone ever again.

WalkoffStudios is a UA-cam channel dedicated to creating original Major League Baseball content. All videos are written, edited, and produced by myself. This channel is sprouted from my love of the game. I want to educate and entertain as many people as I can on different events, stories, history, and tidbits relating to Major League Baseball.
I feel bad for Mitch Williams. He pitched the last pitch in the 1993 NLCS to win the Pennant and pitched the last pitch to lose the 1993 World Series.
Joe Carter's home run was absolutely *NOT* the "most famous home run in World Series history."
Maybe if you're either Canadian or Mitch Williams himself?
*I do agree though. Not a big fan of superlatives, although they sure are hard to get away from...
Gibson's is more famous.
I remember that month! It was definitely crazy. He'd blow a save, then we'd win it in the bottom of the 9th.
Do Phillies, Jul 2-3, 1993, double header. I was at the first game.
If you're referring to the double header where game 2 started at 1am, someone else already made a video about that, so I recommend you watch that: ua-cam.com/video/019pNMkcRDc/v-deo.html&pp=ygUYbGF0ZXN0IGJhc2ViYWxsIGdhbWUgZXZy
Should have won the CY young that year.
How did you get the idea to run this story?
I saw Mitch Williams' baseball reference page one day and noticed he won 12 games one season, which I thought was odd so I looked at his season game log and saw what he accomplished in that month
@@walkoffstudios Huge Mitch fan here, I got to witness that year with my own eyes.Strange coincidence, but I asked him about it a few weeks before this video was made, I found a podcast he was on and asked him about that year and he actually answered the question live and described that month and that season as being one of the funnest he'd ever had. I know a couple of times he won player of the week but I had forgotten about the 8 wins in one month. Great video by the way.
