"Letting Go" is such an underrated song
Very true!!!
Paul couldn’t be contained musically. He just lives and breathes it so if it wasn’t worldwide superstardom he would’ve been back in bars and dives. A real music phenomenon.
Yes indeed! ✌🏼❤️
Paul hates being older. But somehow he survives in his mind.
Mejor imposible!...

@@marurbina353Beautifully expressed/described. 😊
For me this was the best time for Paul. The band was tight and loose all at the same time. And they rocked. Jimmy McCulloch was such a great guitarist and really gave Wings their edge. He plys so good on the live stuff. I think Paul was having a lot fun with that band and did a lot to influence his song writing. It was just a great period for Paul.
Jimmy McCulloch died way too young!
@@davideckert2889 Alcohol, like so many others. Very sad story.
Jimmy was my school classmate, when Thunderclap Newman fizzled out he joined a band called Stone the Crows with blues singer Maggie Bell. He replaced the guitarist who sadly died on stage electrocuted by wiring & a rain soaked stage. You will see him playing Blues in a concert, it's here on UA-cam. Wings then grabbed him & it killed him. It opened doors that he wasn't ready for & Paul's wisdom was ignored. He'd be here still. Wings done him no favours & the 2 songs on 2 albums would have made a tidy sum. No other Beatle, not Ringo! would have had a band member having songs on their albums. Paul was very kind to allow that then & in concerts too. Jimmy wasn't the greatest singer but he gets away with it quite well.
@@jackeppington6488also drugs as well.
Wings should have been inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame!
I must to agree.
Paul has one of the finest voices in rock and roll! Thanks for all the smiles over the last 50 years...well done.

The 70's had to be the best decade to see live music. Way better technology than the 60's. Lots of great bands that knew how to play live. And decent ticket prices. It's why the best live albums were done during that decade.
wpl early 80’s.
70S RULED
George Harrison's Dark Horse Tour was a disaster. John Lennon Live in New York City was supbar! Paul rules Live performances among the 4 Beatles. Ringo was 2nd.
Interesting points.
I wonder what the quality of the production and sound was like back then?
I'm almost 60, so as much as I love The Beatles, I was really too young to appreciate them when they were still together.
But I absolutely grew up on Wings in the 70s. They were on the radio all the time.
This film shows just how great they were. I think it's criminal that Wings is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
WOT!?!
Funny with Wings, a mother & daughter would go to his concerts, mother a Beatles fan & her daughter a Wings fan, McCartney being the link.
I think Paul voice was at its peak in 1976. He sounded amazing on this tour
i still wish the 1979 Wings tour happened. we couldve gotten another classic live album
Applause!!!! I could not agree more! Stellar, in the top 5 of Rock n Roll vocalists🎸🎤🎤🎹❤️🙏

This is pretty damn good also. George and Ringo jamming with the rockabilly gang. ua-cam.com/video/5ZmzvXGvjGY/v-deo.html
Umm I’d say the concert for Bangladesh was pretty high up there in terms of post Beatles shows.
@@itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 It is! But shame that George couldn't really keep up with it and that the 1974 tour didn't go so well.
Those beatle boys were, are all great in their own way ..Ringo has a great band, still ..sure Paul’s a genius muso..but why do we need to compare?
Wings. A kick ass band fronted by the brilliant Sir Paul McCartney. Much respect to his wife Linda's legacy...RIP fine lady ❤️
Agree. A lovely, lovely lady.
What a nice comment and so true.....
She sings much better than Johns missus. 🤐👀🤦🏻♂️
I seen Wings Across America 1976. Cincinnati, Ohio.
It was thrilling.
Seeing Paul come on stage and sing " Yesterday " and " Michelle " brought tears. The whole band rocked. And Linda was fantastic. How brave to perform on a world tour without much musical experience.
A moment in time I will never forget.
You are very lucky. I wish I was around to see it…
Michelle? Are you sure?
The 70s seemed like a fun time to be alive!
Class of 79…great times for sure,no internet thankfully
Just listen to that voice. How blessed have we been to share the same lifetime…?
Wings Over America, Chicago Stadium with my mother, who took me. Greatest present my father ever got me - 2 tickets from a scalper... an Easter present. NOW I live in England ver near to his farm and studio. Amazing, huh?
Cool, I'm not far from his farm either...small world!
PM is the text book example of how to be a successful rock star. When everyone told him he was past it or his latest album wasn't any good or in interviews he always said the right thing with a sense of humour he just carried on regardless. He never let anyone's criticism stop him. He literally said if you can do better go ahead......and of course no one could. I admire the man for that. A lesson to learn.
His last album was poor, he's not invincible because he's Paul McCartney & he can write crappy songs sometimes & his song bucket is empty now. RIP.
@@seltaeb9691 His crappy songs were still better than anyone elses crappy songs though 🙂 but I'm not here to defend him it's just a fact that he was very very good at what he does. All the people he has worked with have acknowledged that. There are other very good song writers as we know but none are as prolific and successful as he has been.
He is a musical genius and you can tell from this documentary that he really did care what the critics thought. He was so happy they gave him great reviews, he teared up a bit. But tho he cared, he didn’t let the bad ones hold him back.
@@seltaeb9691 says you.
he grafted hard to be that though, sometimes the genius is found rather than just there, and I think that was the case with Paul. Always pushing, and the reason the Beatles broke up, as no one wanted to keep pushing.
i say wings over America is one of the best live albums out there
It's the perfect timepiece... what I wouldn't have given to be able to go to one of their NA tour shows in 1975-6...
@@ShmuelWeintraub I was lucky to see him twice on this tour at Inglewood forum.. I was 17 years old and couldn't believe I was watching Paul live!.. one of the nights Ringo came out.. Surprised to see little to no comments here about how good of a husband and father Paul was here.. he must have just been great to be around. So kind and caring
He was a great uncledad to Julian Lennon as well. He still calls him “Uncle Paul” 🥹
Best singer of The Beatles and one of the greatest voices ever. How many times do I need to keep repeating this until people finally all agree?
I agree
As a die hard John Lennon fan for more than 40 years i agree, too!!
@@lennyraygun4972 Shame on you 😉 Paul’s good, but John Lennons better every day of the week for me.
John had more unique voice and i love that but Paul's dynamic voice is better

All my years, I avoided listening to wings, as I was put off by the critics. After watching this video, I think I am a fan. Whilst watching I thought Paul is a shockingly amazing singer, pitch perfect live, then I remembered that pre beatles mania he played in Germany for five years in bars and clubs, what a trooper.
Admire the way Paul went back to basics and built it all up again with Wings and his own solo recordings by 1976 he had an impressive back catalogue and body of work and he could put on a concert that was made up of mostly his post Beatles songs he was very much of the time. Saw him during this period and you went home with a big fat smile on your fave and songs like Live and Let Die, Let Em In, and Silly Love Songs still playing in your head. He was knocked during this period by the critics especially in his own country but look back now and see how great he was and how strong his songs were. Not all were classics but on every album there were nuggets of McCartney gold that matches anything he did before or after. Love him!

Got to see Paul for the first time. In 2002, it was amazing. When he came back “PHX” a few years later we brought all three of our boys. They were all in their early twenties and loved it. Now our oldest wants to bring his wife to see him ”again in PHX”. So he’s taking his wife along with his “us” mom and dad. Thing is last time we saw him I thought, well, that’s gotta be about his last world tour and yet here we are AGAIN. I love it. BTW, He said at the last concert when asked how long he’d keep going, he said they’ll be rolling me out in a wheelchair.
This man's musicianship, voice and energy blows anyone else out the ballpark.
Jimmy McCulloch...what an AMAZING guitar player he was...gone too soon...RIP

I love how joyous these concerts were. There isn't enough of that in world. Even Denny's Moody Blues song was joyous in presentation.

As someone else suggested, the 70s really were an amazing time for music... just enough technology to realize the ideas of great artists, and before tech took over music and became the focus vs. writing. Pre-autotune and quantizing drum tracks etc. And as this person also mentioned, the prices were attainable for regular fans. These days, if you actually want to SEE the artists, the MINIMUM you'll spend for a seat is $150 (for a national artist). But the thing I perhaps enjoyed the MOST from this era was the cross-pollination between genres. There were myriad "radio stations" that crossed over into multiple genres and it was refreshing and eye-opening. Such a great time.
@EDOGG62 You are so correct. Wish I could give your comment more than one thumbs up!
Paul & Wings in all their glory! They were never better than this historic tour. Phenomenal documentary, too.
I consider Wings Over America to be one of the very top live albums of all time, obviously because it's McCartney peaking as a versatile musical creative artist and singer, but most of all because Wings were a damn good band - and the recording engineers also managed to sample their great energy.
this is my comfort video
Superb documentary about the best McCartney tour ever made: at the best of his voice, best musicians set and wonderfull and complex songs! He was the best!!!
Just finished watching this concert for the second or maybe third time and realized I attended Paul’s concert at The Cow Palace in Daly City. Brought back lots of memories of that and other Paul McCartney concerts I’ve attended throughout the years. A fantastic talent.. Sure glad I was on this planet when all this great music was made.
I was at Wings Over Wembley 77, or 78? I was about 22. My first ever rock concert. I have been to plenty since, but none beat Wings Over Wembley and that includes other Macca concerts.

What I like most of Wings is the fact that Linda didn't know music, and she accepted to work with Paul, and she learned really fast and well to make music 🎶🎶. And the Band with another musicians was really amazing.

I was lucky enough to see the Wings Over America Tour at Madison Square Garden and I must say I think it was the best concert I ever been to . I have no idea why Wings aren't in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame . McCartney should be the second person along side Eric Clapton to be inducted 3 times . Once with the Beatles , once with Wings , and once as a solo artist .
Yes wings absolutely belongs in there!

Very nice see again Paul McCartney and the Wings...so many years in the past! its so good remember all this songs! Thanks!
So many things have been and undoubtedly will be said about McCartney, I think one thing gets lost amongst the brilliance -- namely how much he clearly enjoys performing.
Paul was in magnificent voice for this tour.
One of my biggest regrets in my life was not seeing Wings in 1977. I was 12 so dad said no. Then one month later he said ok to Queen, Lynsrd (so)Skinard. He felt guilty. My heart is still broken!
i was 12 in 1976, i remember buying the re-released "Got to get you into my life" b/w "Helter skelter"

The version of Yesterday at the 23 minute mark is just lovely. Wow, McCartney at his absolute prime. Saw him live in 2002, when he still had a voice but no range. Now he has neither but he soldiers on, god bless him. I'd love to see him one more time.
I saw him in 93.and..good, but still paled in comparison to his 76 prime...his voice was magic back then
I saw him last year and for a 76 year old he was incredible. I wasnt born til 2001 but still thankful i saw him
pmohanram He still has a great range, the only thing that he lacks nowadays is strength
pmohanram the false start “...Once a jolly swagman...” was off the charts funny too :))))
He knows his place in the world. Powerfull financially, powerfull musically and in the music world. He understands how lucky that he is to be where he is.
That you mention his finances first, is the opposite of a reflection of what Paul is about.

IT's cool to see Denny Lane doing his Moody Blues hit "Go Now". Love it.
I'm just trying to be short and sweet like a star in the band bad company is playing in some of the best ever done music is the beautiful lead's Mick Ralph's. So Paul is playing such a unreal bass with the fills busy and man I could go on and on about that but I love the way he is a great singer ànd the bass playing he makes look so easy to get a unreal writer with the talent he plays lot of instrument s. So it was a long story to sày he's one of the best musicians ever born àñd it s a great time he is playing still
Inconmensurable.
Band on the Run. Chaos and Creation.
Paul is a very amiable guy and I have never seen him act pretentious. He is secure enough in himself and his craft. I always enjoy his interviews. Great sense of humor and always sharp. My all time favorite musician. This film is really a must for any McCartney/ Wings fan. Love that Linda played with him. She was really underrated and really added substance to Wings music. Thanks for sharing this video. Cheers
"33 is too old for Rock n Roll" ......oh he had no idea. Times have sure changed.
Funny, a full Beatles concert was 30 minutes long. 56 years later McCartney's shows are upwards of 3 hours non stop.
They didn’t improvised. Unlike Zeppelin, those ma’fuckas had 3 hrs shows on the regular.
Jus a jealous reporter looking for a headline but it backfired.
He was just a young kid then, didn't know squat LOL! It staggers the mind to think how far he's come since then!
I Was born in 1963 so I was listening to the Beatles as a baby, grew up listening, I loved them ALL,even after they broke up I STILL LOVED EACH ONE when they were doing all their solo albums I bought each one of those too,ALL OF THEM ARE PERFECT MUSICIANS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT, LOVE THEM ALL FOREVER AND ALWAYS, NEVER GET TIRED OF ANY OF THEM,,RIP,JOHN AND GEORGE 💖💖💖💖👏👏👏👏😎🌷🌷🌷🌷
In a way, it was a good thing that the Beatles broke up when they did. Paul wanted to start touring again and he would have dragged them with him and we would have to see Show after Show of him breaking his back trying, while John and George sulked and Ringo gamely hung on.
Instead we got McCartney in his pomp. With a band who were both honoured and enthused to share a stage with him.
Thankfully all this was filmed and recorded and generations still to come will be able to see Paul, voice soaring, pumping out those bass lines from his Rickenbacker.

Nah..it's easy..but nobody does it better,,,than Paul : )
@@claudiodiaz8659 He means playing a guitar and singing isn't too hard for a pro however playing Bass is a whole different skill level. You are singing a melody but the bass lines are often moving around and providing another function. Its like being pulled two ways at the same time. I find it ridiculously difficult and distracting. Its easier to play piano than bass whilst singing and to add to that Paul's bass lines are very busy and very sophisticated all the time. With bass its like playing two instruments at the same time and they are doing two very different functions, not like chordal and singing as a guitar or piano would be because they support each other in an hierarchy but bass is wandering and often not playing the root but changing all the time.
What a body of work he put together with Wings. You could argue that work was on par with the Beatles. All the songs on the setlist are fantastic. The are the songs of my early youth and teenage years. Such great memories.
Funny! Oz journo saying to Paul......33 is a bit old for rock and roll, fast forward almost 50 years later, he's still rock and rolling! Don't stop doing what you do best Sir Paul, bringing smiles and happy memories to millions who come to your concerts, not every day you get the chance to watch living History in concert!
As much as I was inspired by the Beatles (staring at the Revolver album cover for hours, listening to dope-induced tunes, and marveling at George Martin's genius production) perhaps most fond of Paul in his 1970s independent and then Wings days. Finally free to lead his own band, ironically starting without one on his first solo album + Ram, then Wings: Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, Band on the Run, Venus and Mars. What a great run of fantastic albums and memorable singles. Paul in the 70's rocked, but now back to listening to his "Taxman" guitar solo a couple more times ;-)
Right?? Who in the history of RnR has ever had as well received career as Paul? 60’s and 70’s, groups or no group, switching groups the man has no comparison. Blows my mind.

Great Stuff Wings were a Fantastic band
Seriously how the F*** does he do that bass line to SILLY LOVE SONGS.....AND sing so brilliantly? What a talent.
Underrated bass player because of his front man personae. Any album, you sorta go, whoa, wait and its so simple, but its meldoic bass playing to the absolute max, even when hes just holding a groove.
@DanFarrellmusic
he's not playing!!! that's a soundtrack! Have you heard of Millie Vanilli??
you look at the songs "Get back" and also "Silly Love songs," for example... I can explain how he couldn't POSSIBLY be playing the bass line, the way he does this little light strumming/ stroking thing with his thumb...all other bass players either play with alternating index and middle finger, or (and a lot of guitar players do this) with a pick... this guy, "Paul" never plays with a pick.... I'm talking about TIGHTLY, FIRMLY grasping the pick....I've seen him reach up at breaks in the song and run his fingers through his hair....so he's NOT playing with a pick....so tired of people fawning over this phony!
Thank you so much for sharing this moment with me.❤
'Jet' and 'Im Amazed' - 2 of my favourite Wings songs. Also 'Band On The Run' is a good song.
5 yrs later, and lm here again!!! Have gotta add Silly Love Songs to the list.
Plus l really think Long and Winding Road is one of my favourite Beatle songs.
Just before Silly Love Songs, l found myself wondering what John Lennon was thinking about the success of this tour???? Hopefully very happy for his mate. Would have been a nice change after all the s-t he had put on Paul in previous years.
A question that l would love May Pang to be asked in one of her interviews.
Paul rocked it then and still now!! God Speed.
Just saw him in San Jose 7-10-19. OMG he still has it. Sang for 3 hours. I can die now. Lol
6/1/19 in Lexington, KY, big packed basketball arena. The energy, positive vibe & yep the love in the place was like electrical currents just charging the atmosphere. Not only the sound but the visuals were artistic and beautiful. A fabulous performance, just an amazing experience.
He can't sing anymore since around 09
@@morriahmcdonald4040 I saw him in 2019 and he could sing just great. As a matter of fact, he sang and played for 3 hours! Could you do that at 78, and do it well? Critics are bullshit unless they have something that’s real to say. Seen him in concert? Bet you haven’t. The guy is amazing
@@monaedwards8688 I actually LOVE Paul. Seen him 4 times through 2009. His voice us SHREADS now, seriously. It's pathetic. This is all Paul worship 🤣
Paul's peak during solo years, though Ram is his best album.
MarkBarna1 Saw him a few months ago at Dodgers Stadium....best concert of my life!...4th McCartney concert.....at 77 I think he’s at his apex....Most youth LOVE him..attracts all age groups...of course he has an older voice, but better than 8 years ago!....helps that he has the best sound equipment at stadiums! I paid for 6th row center...no regrets...sheer happiness for rest of my life as well as my daughter 35💯 There’s no full 3 hour concert on UA-cam,😢 My daughter and I have taped Beatle Reunion that night (with Ringo on his own drums, Sgt Pepper and Helter Skelter) but not possible to tape 3 hours and enjoy the moment
100%
scot sax Were you there? Or at his last tour?
Joy Stinson ~ Yeah,
Check out the amazing video footage called =
“Who is Paul McCartney?”
By Windows On The World
The Nick Kollerstrom episode.
Enjoy xxx*
His first album, McCartney,is a favourite of mine.
É espetacular a energia desse homem! Amo, amo, amo demais!
The sound quality on this is absolutely exceptional. Thanks for posting!
Though he's a perfectionist, he put his musically unexperienced wife in the band because of love - and still had the best live show of all Ex-Beatles.
Like yoko
"inexperienced". I remember thinking like everyone else that that's not a good idea. As time passed and she died I realised that all those songs now don't sound the same without her.
Oh yeah
evidently you've never seen Ringo and his 'All-Star Band' in concert. The song 'Photograph' was incredible-a 20 min jam! (lol)
At Least Linda could play, unlike Mad Yoko screaming !
