30W dosent seem that much when the CPU takes 280W ...thats about 10%. So for a laptop this means about 5W less.

@@RapttorX It's not a lot. At the US average cost of electricity, about $30/year (assuming your CPU was working at 100% all the time I guess). However - imagine applying this sort of optimization across a situation where you have thousands of heavily loaded CPUs.
420W peak, actually, so that's 7%. Still 30 watts is 87,6KWh in a year if you run it 8 hours per day at 100%. Which in the Netherlands is a savings of about 19 euros. However noone has a a 3970X. On my 3600 the savings would be 10% according to 1usmus. Which is only 7 Watts, or 4 euros at 8 hours per day. My average per day is more likely below 2 hours, so i would save at most 1 euro per year... I'll take the 7% performance boost though!

amazing effort by 1usmus, been using their DRAM calulator for a while, just found out about this. Good on you, you're doing a wonderful service.
On my 3900x, I got a 10% boost in multicore and a 1-2% boost to single core. Power draw is down 20-30 watts, and my thermals dropped 5-7 degrees C. This program worked insane for me.

In the software there's option for Zen 1 and +, but i havent tested yet
Worked quite well for my Ryzen 5 3600X. Almost a 10 degree drop in temperature (under full load) whilst also gaining a marginal performance boost in Cinebench.
Just a couple of notes:
- I use an Asus B450-Plus MB. At least for me the LLC settings aren't shown as levels but range from Regular->Extreme. I figured "High" equates to level 3 so went with that.
- This might be obvious to everyone but it's not mentioned in this video. You need to have Cinebench R20 installed to the CB20 directory within the CTR directory.
Man this is pretty cool when you think about the chip quality being slightly random. I will definitely check this out thanks for the awesome video guys.

I used to do something similar back in early 2000's using AMD Barton and MSI KT6V and it's own Core center chip+utility
I actually managed to get higher clocks out of my 3600 by undervolting it to 1.1V. Auto overclock was very aggressive on voltage wich caused the temps to go in to 90 on my low profile noctua cooler. And then the clock went way down. After undervold it runs 4.15GHz all core at 75C max. Before it get up to 95C and boost went down to 3.8GHz.
Anthony definitely adds serious production value to the videos! He goes total geek speak, without overwhelming or intimidating. I bet he's awesome to work with!

hey LTT, could we get another look at this now it's more mature? I'd really love to see some benchmarks and indepth talks about it, PBO & Ryzen overclocking is super cool and so is this tool.
Got an 3700x and i think i was pretty lucky. Used the clock tuner and got ccx 1 to 4.325 and ccx 2 to 4.300 and vcore max 1.25, tried prime95 and cb r20 everything seems super stable. My cb r20 score is 5150

I love it when linus brings Anthony here and love how Anthony explains this setup and gives his opinion about it. if it was just Linus he would of been like "ok i got working not sure how but hey! It freaken works!".
For anybody still on zen or zen+ I would highly recommend in still following the setup as I was able to push my ryzen 2600 non x to 4.1 at 1.375 volts whereas before the setup process I was lucky to get a stable clock at 4.05 at over 1.4 volts.

Went and updated my BIOS all the way, sat down proper and battled both my GPU and my SFX card - both of which declined to work after BIOS remapped literally everything, and finally after an hour (what the fuck is LLC in Asus X570-P "level 4" ffs?) My Settings for the Ryzen 5600 are. Voltage 1.25 with - 0,050 Offset
Curve Optimizer Negative 25
I get around 1884 Points in Cinebench R15.
This is the reason why i love AMD products, you have countless tweaks to make it performs better even on a budget CPU like Ryzen 3300X, while intel usually only let their customer tweak their HEDT or highest end CPU like 10900K with top of the line Z490 motherboard, don't even think to overclock budget 9400F with B365 motherboard.
You are right, but if you wanted to you could oc an i3 10300k (is that what it's even called) with a cheap (haha, actually not cheap at all) z490 board and bam, you have a garbage cpu that is better. than stock.

Linus tech tips, you guys mentioned testing more tuning software. I would love to see how asus' AI suite III compares to either other stock motherboard tuning software or, tuning software like this and others.
Two older AMD CPU's that impressed me in terms of under-volt + O/C were:
. Socket 939 Athlon 64 x 2 'Toldeo' 4200+
Stock: 2.2 GHz; 1.35v; tweaked = 2.7 GHz; 1.20v.
. Socket AM3 Phenom II x6 'Thuban 125W' 1055T
Stock: 2.8 GHz; 1.35v; tweaked = 2.8 GHz; 1.225v.
Both rigs used a stock cooler. The 939 CPU ran solid for about 9 years. A free 500 MHz boost from an old 90 nm process.
In the case of the Phenom II x6 the under-volting also resulted in the stock cooler running a lot quieter.
I wanted to tinker with this rig some more, but unfortunately didn't have the time as the CPU was for an upgrade for a friend who needed it in a hurry (hence no O/C testing; many of these CPU's can get close to or exceed 4 GHz). Six cores and close to 10 MB of cache all belting along under the hood, yet just like the aforementioned x2 this CPU could run with significantly less voltage.

yea my ryzen cpu is a 3800x and it jumps between 0.9v to 1.45-1.47v i've even seen it hit 1.5v never has gone above that and ryzen tells me that's perfectly normal but i dont feel comfortable about it i mean im running stock as chip is new and i didn't have time to overclock it and then test it so on and so on this can definitely help
