I tried hard for almost 3 Days to start the fire with the Bow-Drill Method with the materials randomly gathered in the woods. I wanted to share 1-3% of the pain and suffering, frustration throughout the fire attempts. It takes a lot to start the fire with this method, so always have a lighter, matches, ferrous rod before you go out... Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing this! What a great demonstration of the challenges and reality behind the scenes of survival! Some people show this is so easy and in real life it is almost to impossible to create the fire 🔥 with bow drill method, even with a skill set you have. 😮 thumbs up 👍

Thank you, bud! This video is not staged and I was really optimistic in the beginning and you saw what it takes to make a little coal/amber of the bow drill friction method, this is a around 5% of what I went through to create a fire. Just wanted to share reality-not the easy happy end of story 🙂

People make this look so easy. But it definitely isn't, I've tryed on three different days and still failed it. It is easy with the right conditions and when everything is dialled in. I get coals really fast compared to when I started this challenge 👍

Thanks for sharing your experience! It was a really a nightmare and I showed only 1-3% of what I went through. With the right wood parts it’s doable and is 100 times easier. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience once again!

First I think they could start a fire with all the shots of powder. It does take a lot to start a fire this method, I would not even dream of it here now with all the ice and snow, always have backup for sure, thank you for sharing your gathering of parts and demo, thanks for taking us along to show us your journey on the task, good job

Thank you, Connie, I can’t even dream of how it would turned out in winter or wet season. With all the dry wood and tries, it took and drained all my energy and optimism for sure. Very hard to get a coal with this method indeed

The bow needs to be flexible so it puts tension on the drill as its spinning. A sold bow like that makes it hard to keep the proper tension and it slips and wobbles. Plus the bow looks too short. About 2 times longer would work quicker.

Thank you for watching. I used 2 different bows, 3-4 spindles or drills, but long and short ones, just had over 20hrs of footage and video would be too long. I honestly think that baseboard made me fail, last one was very soft and shaving down really easy compared to the others. Each hole is one time use only, wears down so fast. Maybe next time I will find softer baseboard material to try again. As for the heat and tension, I had some progress and lots of smoke, but no amber or coals.

i've seen some youtubers use completely straight sticks with no tension. Maybe they edited it to make it look easier than it was

@@gfuentes8449 I agree with you, don’t want to blame anyone, but some people make it look so much easier and like a piece of cake to make a friction fire. I here promise you that I still have all the footage of 20+ hours of trying hard to get a single amber. It is very difficult even when you have skills and energy to do it. Even ferrous rod fire making is not easy, especially when you are in a humid environment. Just wanted to show reality and not tales and how cool I am 😀

If you had your spindle going thru your fire starting debris, wouldn't that help to insulate the heat build up for the hot spot

It helped a little bit, but was not enough to build an amber, just smoke as wood was hard to also, wood must have low ignition temperature. So many factors need to be considered to hit that sweet spot to make an amber, just rocket science 😀
