Cottlers Row, where Doyle grew up, is no longer standing but the local Heritage Council in Cobh have, in the past few weeks, erected a stone monument in his honour by where the row of houses stood.
I first heard this song being sang by Tommy Fleming about 6 years ago. Just heard Jimmy's version last year, the two versions of the song are fantastic

I came from the Christy Moore version of this song and honestly I think I prefer this. Jimmy MacCarthy is golden.
