Honestly we need more black women to speak on this topic. I feel it's not a conversation that is held often unless it's at women conferences. There isn't enough black couples that represent the rawness of this topic.
The reason the youth or our generation is fixated with "get a rich man and be happy" story is cos of what we are exposed to. I also feel there wasn't enough grooming for woman and men for various reason, single parenting, resentment of parents towards each other. Absent fatherhood, and so much more.
Anyways I'm not married, but it took me a while to understand the value of the discipline. I'm still learning, And to be honest we are a different generation. You can still be working on yourself and share some parts of you with your man and your family. Also that's my 2 cents, it's not gospel truth.
