The video shows indoor type duct tape used to tape the insulation on the pipes. This type tape deteriorates quickly when exposed to the elements. A better choice would be to use outdoor rated duct tape which is usually black. This is longer lasting a looks much better.
Thanks for the info. I watched your video before the freeze in Houston. I never changed the settings back. Now I can't remember correct setting. My water pressure low now. Will the settings fix it?
Just so I am clear, when it looks like it will freeze, I should turn off the valve coming up from underneath the bell, and open up the two “screws” with a quarter turn to release/drain the remaining water, correct? Basically, get it into the same position you show here at the end of your video? Then I might want to wrap up the entire area in some blankets, etc.? Is this correct? FWIW, I am in the Humble area, The Woodlands, to be precise. I believe this is what I was told to do last year, but I want to make sure I am remembering correctly. Thanks!
No, you don't HAVE to do anything except pay taxes and die. Your choice: Wrap your pipes and save thousands of dollars in damages or just let nature take its natural Houston course.
Lesson learned for me...2021 extreme cold south Texas weather broke mine.
Thank you for the video.
Very good video, I wouldn't have valve issue during last winter due to freeze. LOL, I learned it by replaced the valve which cost me 28 something.
