  • Hey All! This is the third song I've heard from Cast in Steel, and man, this one was more upbeat than what I've heard previously. Absolutely loved this one.

it's cool when you bring the small details in the music to the fore, "listen to that guitar", just the little things you mention during your commentary that make your reactions special..awesome stuff Mike

Wanna hear Morten hit a super high note then you need to listen to Living A Boy’s Adventure Tale. It’s on the Hunting High and Low album. Maybe the highest note he ever recorded. Plus it’s a stellar song. You’ll love it.

Hi Tim.I've watched them live many magical times in the past.I still remember him performing LABAT and it's live version was thrilling. In this song's live outro was Morten striking repeatedly this high note till fade!We fans all got stunned in the stadium looking at each other. We just couldn't believe our ears!It was breathtaking.

That’s a lovely song! But he hit a D5 in his chest voice in Touchy! The Living A Boy’s Adventure Tale was his falsetto:)

Great song! It’s very annoying that not all the a-ha albums are on iTunes, so I can’t get this on my iPhone (it’s not connected to a computer because I need a new one…) This album is on my list of CDs to get:) I’m saving some of the harder-to-get a-ha cd’s to listen to later cause I didn’t want to binge them all and run out lol 😂
Please do Minor Earth Major Sky! If you’re looking for a good groove from their post-hiatus period this one’s probably the best!

Magne wrote this song, sadly Paul does not play on this track whatsoever, they still can’t sit in the same studio and write and record together. Paul wrote cast in steel so you get quite a different contrast between the songs that both of them write. The new album is half written by magne and the other half Paul. So yea sadly they didn’t sit in a studio and go hey that’s a cool beat. if you ever get to see the a-ha movie it goes into their conflicts between Paul and magne. Has to do with royalties around song writing. was mentioned before that this song could have been about Paul and shadow endeavours was about magne , both of them used each titles when asked about the other in an interview.

However, I gotta say that the two songs on the album that were written by Morten ('Living at the End of the World' and 'The Wake') are among my favorites on the album.

Morten has a couple of songs on "Cast in Steel", too, and actually they are some of my favorites, "The Wake" and "Living at the End of the World". Especially "The Wake" is growing on me. Maybe it is a personally thing, I love them both. Morten is an excellent song writer, too, working with the people he use to.

Nice!Kinda Depeche Mode vibes in terms of instrumentation. Why don;t you go back and do some dive into their 1st 2 albums for a while?"Dream my self alive"/"The blue sky"/"Here i stand and face the rain"/"Living a boys adventure tale"/"Soft rains of April" are some grrr8t ones too.!

Yes! Living A Boy Adventure Tale is a must of the early period of the band. Also, I like very much Here I Stand and Face the Rain and Soft Rain of April... less known but interesting and unique! Morten's voice is out of this world! 😊🎶

@@sylvieouellet212 Agree. That Nordic God Morten, can do anything with his utopic playful voice. From adopting a punchy macho vocal sound to even turn into an expressive tender, warm sounding guardian angel.Especially on songs such as "SROApri"l or even on "Scoundrel Days" he can use his voice playing both "roles".Even today after all these years i sometimes still get shivers on hearing him singing "SDays" or even on "The Swing of Things".If i have to describe him i'ld say he sounds like a cross between a tuneful David Bowie and Roy Orbinson but with his own identity. Thanks for responding back Sylvie.

    • @emmyfischer307

That’s a good comparison, like a Bowie meets Orbison. But his falsetto is so unique! I like to joke he’s got five different voices;)

@@emmyfischer307 Agreed.Morten's voice is One of a kind and noone is like him,not even his impersonators. For me it's the best male singing voice ever recorded in history of modern music. He can play with his vocal colours while singing 5 and 95 different ways depending on the song and its mood.As for his falsetos he can be as high pitched as can get and still sound manly and angelic. That's my personal subjective estimation.Period.

Very good how you dissect the different elements of a-ha’s songs.
I think as you liked this one so much that Sunny Mystery from foot of the mountain album would be an equally good one for you to react to. Some great synths on that one. Another great reaction though here Mike 👍

Mike, my man! It's great when your song is picked but then you think "what if he doesn't like it??" Like when Mrs Doyle tells Father Ted he has a beautiful voice and asks him to sing something else but, when he does, she says "No. I didn't like that one so much."
