- I'm in Italy to drive the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T, now available with a 3.9l twin-turbocharged V8 power unit providing 610PS and 760Nm of torque, creating an interesting option against the heavier V12 unit found in the regular Lusso. The new car is also a rear-wheel-drive only option, offering a new driving experience for a different and younger customer base, but what's it like on the road?

Back behind the wheel of a brand new Ferrari - the new V8-powered GTC4Lusso T - I ask myself the question; what's it like to drive and how does it compare to my FF and its bigger brother with the V12! Which one would you prefer?
Shmee150 you should have showed mr jww and benziben in the video for atleast a few seconds....not good that you did not show them....
Well, I like v8s, but going down from that fantastic v12, is not something I would do.

I think it's a perfect Ferrari. You have the beautiful design and more space inside, but you also have the powerful engine.
Yes the V12 sounds better but I think the V8 suits the car quite well. And the price difference is a big thing, especially with our stupid tax system (the Netherlands)
icebreakertech well I think when you have enough money, you don't have to ask you this sort of question, you buy always the best, and tax system is not a problem too because your money is not in the netherland but somewhere in Luxembourg or in Caïmans Island
Trust me...here in Italy we have a super tax that start around 250 hp...I know what you mean...
If you are the owner of this kind of supercar you don't need to think about tax... I mean you are rich or you are not. If you really have a lot of money you buy what you want when you want and you don't care about tax at the same time... Unfortunatly the economical system is like this making very rich people who can buy everything and share anything and more and more poor people who can just dream and sharing a lot of things
Nighthawk One Probably what you said is true to hyper car owners like lafarrari. But gtc4lusso is not that expensive and much more practical. People who are not rich enough to ignore taxes can still afford it.

Diego Delgado If you can afford the V8 I'm sure you could afford the V12, Tim talks about spending 60K on options so a 36K price difference is nothing.

Noah Lindegaard I know it's cheaper,but when you've got 200K to spend on a car then the 36K difference between the V8 and V12 isn't that much.
Hassan 504 it's only 50kg lighter and 6mpg better,personally I'd sacrifice that and enjoy the performance and noise of the V12

The walk around the cars and the complete look inside showing menu's / trim / buttons etc. is exactly why I prefer UA-camrs car reviews over TV stuff. Shows the car enthusiast exactly what they want to see - the car! Thanks again Tim.

@Shmee150 I dont think any of the videos from any car vloggers do this car justice - I saw the V12 version in Mayfair yesterday for the first time and I have to say I was gobsmacked as to how beautiful it is in person. This isn't a criticism of you or your recordings obviously but in person the proportions just look spot on and on every camera on youtube it just looks slightly awkward. Great car, great soul just a shame the V12 is lost - keep up blogging I am a fan despite the haters below!
i think the v12 version of the GTC4Lusso is the only replacement to the FF. But the price has to comes down first for SHMEE to get this.

in the Netherlands you would pay around €100.000/€130.000 extra emission tax for a V12 version so the V8 version would make a lot of sense over here( i know this because of the mercedes G63 and G65 price difference)

The displacement per cylinder on these two engines are the same =)
Giulia v6: 0,483 liter per cylinder

i think if you havent ever had the FF or the GTC4 Lusso V12 option you wouldnt feel like you were missing out on something by getting the V8 because it is still a 610hp ferrari engine that sounds amazing and has plenty of power and without knowing what the V12 is like I think that is enough for most people especially when you consider the 36,000 pound difference.

Brilliant review Tim. I really appreciate the detailed information and look around the cars you review. Personally I think I'd be happy with twin turbos and a V8 and keep the £36k.

Very nice video Tim as usual👌. First impression is that car doesn't sound like a Ferrari but more like aMcLaren 570... maybe because of the twin turbo V8. Very good impression of the exterior and interior equipment, such a nice colour, but definitevely not impressed by the engine under the hood. After testing the V12 and hear it this model looks so fade.
Screw turbo chargers. NA all the way. If you have any passion for cars at all, especially for Ferrari, why would you ever go for the option of forced induction. And don't tell me it's because of the price point. Because if your trying to save money whilst buying a Ferrari!!!! Look at another car. V12 all the way.

I know that there are two variants! If you did your homework you would know that Ferrari have chosen the Turbo charged V8 as their primary debut of the GTC4 Lusso NOT THE V12. Which is kind of a big deal for those of us that like nice sounding cars! Hence why i said i would still go for the V12 instead of forced induction.
Dan Knightley no the GTC4 Lusso was unveiled in 2016 at Geneva with the V12. the V8 T is the option. of course the V12 is the proper option but the V8 is there because if they dont adapt they wont survive in the long term. i imagine you have forgotten that the F40 is turbocharged though?
Yes the Unveiling was of course the V12 in true Ferrari tradition, But they are pushing the Turbo Charged V8 as the primary car at the moment! I understand they will not survive if they do not adapt! In my opinion i feel they should of gone with a hybrid drive train instead Which not only is way more powerful but also way more efficient and would not effect the glorious sound of the N/A V8's and V12's. Obviously a lot more costly, But that would be a small sacrifice given their numbers will see a dip now they are turbo charging across the brand! And of course the Turbo charged F40 is a legend and always will be even by todays standards. But! That was intended for maximum horse power and torque at the time! Not for fuel efficiency and carbon emission restrictions! Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes!
Dan Knightley power and efficiency of a hybrid powertrain varies quite a bit, that said i dont think they should have done that. Hybridize the V12's, use turbocharged V8's as the base. They are making the V8 more because they have to. I think they want more people to buy the GTC4 Lusso which is why they kept it awd (with all wheel steering, dont know it the T has all wheel steering) and put the V8 as just a rwd. They claim it's so that it is more involved but the purpose of the GTC4 was always to have a car to compete against Bentley's Continental GT so that customers can drive a Ferrari in any weather conditions. And im aware the F40 had totally different goals. Im not fooled by why they brought it back the thing is though that if they dont supply what customers can manage to get (in some countries getting the V12 over the V8 would cost a fortune because of the carbon tax) then their stocks will drop. The investors wont stay with them if they dont do what's best for those investments. I wouldnt and neither would their top investors. That's one of the reasons why Fiat almost got rid of Ferrari. They were tired of Ferrari running free doing what they wanted.

The new Lusso 12 and 8 aren't unique you know: I've suggested to Autocar that the new Panamera Sport Turismo bread van IS a direct competitor especially in Turbo and (presumably upcoming) Turbo S forms, and suggested they do a comparative road test. I suspect you WILL swap the FF for the Lusso V12. Why don't you do a comparison when the Porsche becomes available? Best wishes Tony
