I like the "Dressed to Kill" representation...my favorite Kiss album.
@@howie5th Agree! "Kiss", "Dressed to kill" and "Rock and roll over" are my favourites.
You've listed the entire Dressed to Kill album practically 🙂
@@DSpeir-pi6tm Yes! I had "Two timer", "Getaway" and "Ladies in waiting" in my first list too.
😁
Top 10 Kiss deep cuts are:
1. Danger (Creatures of the night) Super heavy song and about as close to metal as they got.
2. The Oath-(Music from the elder) The only heavy song on what is commonly regarded as a not heavy album. Pretty much is proto power metal.
3. Is that you?(Unmasked) One of a few decent songs on this album. It is a good pop rock song from them.
4. Killer-(Creatures of the Night) Another heavy song from their heaviest album
5. “I”(Music from the Elder) Pretty cool song overall it is comparable to The Oath off the same album due to its anthemic chorus.
6. Keep me comin’ (Creatures of the night) Pretty heavy song for Kiss and another kick ass metal song for them.
7. Under the Rose (Music from the Elder)
A different kinda Kiss song it is more prog sounding than anything else they ever did. Should have been a hit.
8. Talk to me (Unmasked) A decent pop rock song for them.
9. I still love you(Creatures of the night)
The only ballad on this album but for a ballad it’s still pretty damn heavy.
10. Not for the innocent(Lick it up) A very forgotten song off their “comeback” album that should have been a hit.
Honorable Mentions:
1. Save your love-Dynasty
2. Tomorrow-Unmasked
3. Just a Boy-Music From The Elder
4. Saint and Sinner-Creatures of the Night
5. King of the Mountain-Asylum (For an opening track that song has never been played live nor was it ever released as a single is pretty obscure).
Picked some great ones tomorrow off unmasked! Gotta love it
Mike Love your selection s. The period you picked 80/83 ish. In my opinion. Underrated. Great selections 100
%
Danger was the first song I thought of when hearing about this deep cut episode.
Not for the innocent is a good one. Gene does a great vocal performance on that one and the riff is crusching
Appreciate your courage in listing tracks from "Music from 'The Elder.'"
My top 10 picks in no particular order:
- Danger
A banger track with some trademark melodies from Paul. His sense of melody is great.
- I've Had Enough (Into The Fire)
Another banger. Definitely one of their heaviest songs. Perfect album opener. All great performances from Eric, Mark and Paul.
- King Of The Mountain
Kind of the same vibe as the previous track, kicking off the Asylum album with a bang.
- Strange Ways
Absolute classic yet so overlooked.
- The Oath
Very powerful and heavy track. This would probably be my number one pick if I had to choose just one.
- X Ray Eyes
Gene's most underrated song in my opinion. The main riff is very cool and Gene delivers a great vocal.
- A Million To One
This should've been a single and live staple for the Lick It Up album. They really dropped the ball there.
- Magic Touch
Pretty much the same scenario as with the previous track. Paul's got some hidden hits-that-never-were.
- Keep Me Comin'
Swingin' track with an extremely catchy pre-chorus+chorus arrangement.
- Under The Rose
Quite different for KISS, almost haunting in a way. The chorus riff is cool, too.
Some honorable mentions:
- I'll Fight Hell To Hold You
- Give All You Can Take
- Dreamin'
- Rock And Roll Hell
- Save Your Love
- What Makes The World Go 'Round
* Parasite
* Love her all I can

1. Take Me

@Roof Korean well, most of my picks are from the non makeup period😀😀😀😀😀
@Bernie Family I can confirm. Gene and I talk often, usually about haircare, but sometimes music.
@Bernie Family Gene $immons only likes money
@Bernie Family That's the spirit. Fascism BTFO'd😎
Great 'Deep Cut Dive' guys. I have a huge affinity with Kiss and all choices hit the mark superbly.
And I 2nd 'Nowhere to Run' from Kiss Killers compilation.
Paul Stanley kept Kiss relevant during the late 80's and 90's, he put his heart and soul in Kiss.
Always dug how at the end of "Let Me Know" they put the riff they later used on "She". It's kind of out of left field and heavy for a sing songy track like that but cool nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the Marillion and Fish videos he did with Pete as well. He is a great guest.
@@jimmycampbell78 Thank you to you both. I appreciate the the positive words. The videos are great fun to do, so I'm delighted that comes over. Cheers!
Want a deep Frehley cut? .. I suggest the instrumental "Escape from The Island" from the Elder .....classic Frehley riff, great solo.. and jungle drums from the late great Eric Carr
Glad to see "Getaway" and "Mr. Speed" getting some love here.

My Deep Cut Dive: KISS list:
5. Let me know
4. Anything for my baby
3.Great expectations
2. Hard Times
1.Two sides of the coin
Goin Blind
Flaming Youth
Makin Love
When Lightning Strikes
Take Me
Great choices guys.
Thumbs up for Flaming Youth!!
When Lightning Strikes is brilliant. People think because Sonic Boom is a later Kiss album (2009), that it must be crap. There are so many great songs on there, mostly all of Paul’s ones, but this one is up there too. Honestly, now, after being a fan for 40 years, I’ve heard Shock Me so much, I’d prefer to hear When Lightning Strikes...
Charisma
King of the Mountain
Baby Driver
Rock n Roll Hell
Easy As It Seems
I’ll Fight Hell To Hold You
Mr Blackwell
Exciter
Hard Times
Nowhere To Run
5. Young and Wasted
4. Getaway
3. All American Man
2. Is That You?
1. Strange Ways
This has been my favorite Deep Cut Dive! Kiss is a band I absolutely love and honestly, they have so much history and music that every time you go through their catalogue you can find things that maybe you didn't pay much attention to before. How many "Marks" can you talk about with them like it's done with Deep Purple, you know: Mark 1, Mark 2 and so on. I have always thought of Kiss like a band where every fan can say, this is "My Kiss" and defend it hahaha My Kiss, is Hot in the Shade Kiss, but don't really now how many songs on that album would qualify as deep cuts. But I love all their albums just the same. Great show guys, I will be listening to Kiss all day today. And great contribution by Jack's dog too!
Lol. She annoyed me at that moment, but it gave us something funny to talk about at the end.
Massive fan of Kiss. Easy as it seems, Take Me, Strange Ways, Love Her All I Can, Almost Human. X Ray Eyes.
Now those are some excellent deep cuts!! I totally agree with you 👽
@@stevekosak8624 Cheers! Been a fan since 1976.
My top 15:
1. Strange Ways - (Hotter Than Hell) - Perhaps their greatest deep track. The riff and heaviness coupled with Peter's killer vocals and Ace's wicked solo make this is a first class song in every way.
2. Rock and Roll Hell - (Creatures of the Night) - Huge and heavy...Gene's vocals are extremely strong here. The chunking guitars for the 2nd verse is amazing! And yes...Eric Carr's massive drums are amazing!!!
3. I'm Alive - (Asylum) - Eric Carr's drumming alone makes it worthy! They didn't have many songs this breakneck..and this is the best of the bunch! In fact..Eric's drumming really shines on the entire album.
4. Not for the Innocent - (Lick It Up) - One of Gene's best vocal performances of his career. The chorus is just destructively heavy!
5. Sweet Pain - (Destroyer) - Dark, brooding...and that riff during the solo might be one of their very best ever.
6. Getaway - (Dressed to Kill) - Straight forward rock and roll. Peter does his best Rolling Stones/Rod Stewart performance and he delivers nicely!! A very strong bass line from Gene..very McCartney ish.
7. Anything For My Baby - (Dressed to Kill) - One of the strongest early vocal performances from Paul. Very strong! Peter's drumming is perfect!
8. Baby Driver - (Rock and Roll Over) - Why this wasn't played live is beyond me. Peter kills this vocally as well as drumming wise. "Come Onnnnnnn!" The riffs are awesome!! Nothing they ever did ever sounded like this again. Amazing song!!
9. Danger - (Creatures of the Night) - Drums, Drums and more Drums....thundering...crushing...destroying everything. Were they ever heavier?? Don't think so. Paul is awesome.
10. Reason to Live - (Crazy Nights) - It's simple. Paul. Paul. Paul. He never, ever sounded better and by this stage he was clearly the best rock singer on the planet..bar none. The song itself sounds dated..but Paul is just so amazing I don't care.
11. I've Had Enough (Into the Fire) - (Animalize) - I almost forgot about this! It's white hot and would have been amazing live.
12. Thou Shalt Not - (Revenge) First of all..Eric Singer is the star here musically. His drumming is just perfect. The syncopation is tight and rockin'. Gene is king as well..delivering a blistering vocal performance! I could easily have seen this performed in full make up...face full of blood...etc. Bruce's solo is evil and growling! This is just a great song. Period!
13. Easy As It Seems - (Unmasked) - Yup...love this. If you aren't taken in by the melody..you might want to call 911 because you might be dead. It's beyond catchy...it's epic. No it isn't heavy...it is just perfectly written and Paul delivers in spades.
14. Dreamin' - (Psycho Circus) - Is there a better vocal performance from Paul? His range, control and power are the best of his career. So melodic, heavy and spectacular.
15. Exciter - (Lick It Up) - If the songs "Creatures of the Night" and "the Oath" had a child..this would be it. Paul just crushes it vocally and was the beginning of his newly discovered range and power. Great way to start the non makeup era. KILLER song.

Strange Ways. Hard Times, Any Way you Slice It, Take Me and Fits like a Glove
This was a tough one for me. I know most of their albums cover to cover and they're so familiar to me that I have trouble thinking of which songs weren't common knowledge to the casual fan. I tried to pluck some of my favorite moments that weren't concert staples or greatest hits material but, honestly, they should have been.
5) Almost Human ~ Love Gun
4) Strange Ways ~ Hotter Than Hell
3) A Million To One ~ Lick It Up
2) Danger ~ Creatures of the Night
1) I'm Alive ~ Asylum
True as well, you tend to remember what you got into as a teenager. To this day, I'm still a massive Maiden fan, I like Creatures of the Night, and I love the Elder.
Mainline - Hotter Than Hell
Strange Ways - Hotter Than Hell
Anything For My Baby - Dressed To Kill
Baby Driver - Rock And Roll Over
Under The Rose - Music From The Elder
Goin Blind, Sweet Pain, Flaming Youth, A World Without Heroes, Exciter and Keep me Commin
A really enjoyable fun session on my favourite band back in the Seventies. Definitely will check out Steven’s deep cuts!
The "Deep Cuts" I always spin;when I'm in the mood for some KISS....A World Without Heros - A slow-paced song with Gene on vocals & a great guitar solo from Paul. Strange Ways - Featuring Peter on vocals & one of their best songs in their early catalog. There are a few others that come to mind....Mainline, 100,000 Years, A Million To One....all produced from the Lick It Up album or before.
Strange Ways, Goin Blind, MainLine, Danger, Who Wants To Be Lonely, It’s Alright (Paul solo) and of course the greatest kiss song ever Mr Speed
All about Ace!
1. Strange Ways
2. Hard Times
3. Dark Light
4. Into the Void
5. Torpedo Girl
The two that immediately come to mind are All The Way (Hotter Than Hell) and Let Me Know (Kiss); awesome tunes that I hardly ever hear mentioned.
I'll leave the rest to others.
EDIT: Jack always seems to mention at least one of the same tunes as I do on these deep cut dives. Cool stuff!!
Awesome lists guys!

Anything for my Baby from Dressed to kill. Killer vocals from Paul plus a great rhythm section and backing vocals. My brother used to say KISS in the 70's sounded like The Beatles on steroids and this song is a great excample of that

Awesome video Kiss rocks.
Basically any non single staple from Rock And Roll Over for me, Mr Speed, Take Me, Baby Driver 🤟
And War Machine from COTN
I'm going with "TWO TIMER"
The original, grinding, groovy version from the great Dressed To Kill album.
I've always loved this track and still don't understand why no one (or very few) mentions this song as a favorite.
The lyrics are wayyyy cool, the chords match the vibe and attitude perfectly and yet again, the Ace Frehley 🛸 solo just could not be better!
Some other high regards:
GOT LOVE FOR SALE (1977, Love Gun) - badass track that grinds with gusto! And without question, it features brilliant, fantastic Ace solos!
ALL THE WAY (1974, Hotter Than Hell) - the monster riff, the cowbell and the verses rule this one.
LOVE HER ALL I CAN (1975, Dressed To Kill - an 'atypically selfless' track that rocks esp hard and catchy. Invigorating and inspiring song. Also features another blistering Ace Frehley solo)
SWEET PAIN (1976, Destroyer - one of the more musically unique Kiss tracks which never seems to get old)
MR. SPEED and SEE YOU IN YOUR DREAMS (1976, Rock and Roll Over) - "Mr. Speed" is a Top 5 all time KISS track for me. And "See You In Your Dreams" (only this RARO version!!) isn't far behind. Both absolute killers!
*Every track from Ace Frehley's incredible SOLO album! Well, save for NYG. Ace's solo album is one of the GREAT hard rock albums of the late 70s, from any artist.
HARD TIMES (1979, Dynasty) - this track + SAVE YOUR LOVE, "make" the album shine. And the presence of each one of these songs display Dynasty as a "Rock" album, as do most of the others as well.
Also, "Torpedo Girl," "Is That You," "Under The Rose," "Mr. Blackwell," "Saint and Sinner" "Rock and Roll Hell" and "Exciter"
And that's it. I don't go past 1983 with KISS.
🛸 🦇 🐈 🌟

You could see the desire wash over Steven's face when he saw that Kiss Cola bottle.
Yeah, I didn't hide that well, did I?? Very jealous!
@@TranquilityFireReid It's cool. You had the face of a collector seeing something he'd never seen before. Like a kid seeing the present he wanted under the Christmas tree.
Deep Cut Dive is a great idea! Keep on doing this! Thumbs up!!!
Great choices guys especially Mr. Speed which was going to make my list.

There is so much new talent to explore, it saddens me as an artist that so many people live in the past and not the present.
Not entirely true. As a lover of music, I listen to my son's music whenever we are together. I even went to a show (a band he likes) with him about 1 1/2 years ago and enjoyed it.
Jack Toledano What was the name of the band?
Hi @Jellyfish Soundz. Head over to the Sea of Tranquility website and you'll see lots and lots of reviews of new bands and new music. Musically I love to live in the past and the present. Best of both worlds.
@@ryangioia2358 Steven Malkamis & The Jicks. He was originally part of a band called "Pavement". Normally music that I wouldn't seek out on my own.
