A small house is more manageable, stable and optimizes energy.
Hills in Uttrakhand have decent size houses but with relatively smaller rooms, ceiling height is less and width is more usually to provide a stable base along with thick walls.
A room with small volume gets warm quickly in winters which results in low living cost.
