I can no longer justify those assumed prices if they happen to become a reality. Been a pass holder since 2005 when the premium pass with parking included and no block out days was just 359.00. Paying that much just is no longer in the cards. It was a nice 16 year run. Great video by the way.

Brickey, you are the man! Once again you broke it down like NO OTHER disney vloggers do (yes I love them all & will still follow them as well) thanks for being the channel we can depend on for real deal, no nonsense Disney honesty! You are appreciated homeboy!!!
The Magic Keys arrived at a point in time where many Disneyland fans (most of which were former AP holders) were desperate for something...wanting a return to normalcy...In that mindset you don't always make the best decision...I call this the Denny's effect.... When you're absolutely starving and you're on the road or it's 2 am...and Denny's in your only option, you'll find the Denny's is the best food on earth.... That being the case, many people just signed up for whatever key they wanted...I'm a long time AP holder and was interested in the Magic Keys when they were announced...but I read the fine print and I knew the score going into said offer(s) and decided that the Magic Keys weren't a good deal. I'm waiting for a retool, which is what I think is happening here....surely prices will go up, but they can't justify 20%-40% increases...
Great video. I like this format. I'm not a dream key holder, yet if I were told no blackout dates and seen reservations open for single day buyers, I would feel artificially blocked from going. Now if in the contract it states, reservations for dream key holders exclusively, or amount allocated per day etc then that would make sense . No blackout used to mean just that.
DNR with Brickey in the anchor seat is awesome. I hope you keep doing them. Everyone is so in love with what Disneyland used to be. Unfortunately those days are gone. Especially with the parks packed and people willing to throw endless money at them. There's absolutely no reason for them to change it to benefit the consumer at this point.
Yeah I agree. Unfortunately the Walt Disney Company’s policy has pivoted from “make the experience magical for the consumer” to “make the consumer fund the magic.” 🫤👎🏼 I think Walt would be disappointed in this shift.
Thanks for the breakdown. I figured everything would cost more and likely a tweak or two. I was kind of surprised they're offering the So Cal discounted pass over the summer as I thought the parks were already super busy.
Love that you’re back to doing the news! Are you filming this outside? Your lighting makes it look like you’re outdoors. Haha Also, THANK YOU for having the appropriate mic. (Sidebar, LOVE the SM7B!) Wade Heath at The Kingdom Report has such an awful mic (too much gain) that it’s really hard to listen to him. I hope he fixes that soon. Or maybe not since I much prefer to get the news from you if you continue to do these with regularity. :)
Bricky, the lost me because Disney was simple , now it’s confusing to everyone. I’m not the only one. If your in So Cal your good. But in Nor Cal or in near by states it’s not worth it. Weekends are booked almost every weekend. I’m done. I will buy tickets instead and go less. Good going Bobbie
Rational and nicely said as always! Chiming in from an accounting standpoint- the magic keys shouldn't be hitting revenue at the time of renewal. Not to bore everyone, but accrual accounting (required in the US for publicly traded companies) requires revenue to be recorded when earned, not when the money is received. So in theory Disney would record 1/12 of the Magic Key purchase price as revenue each month. So the most they could shift earnings would be 1/12 for every month renewals are paused. Still a decent chunk of change, but small enough to make me not put too much stock in the revenue management theory.
Thanks for the breakdown. I wonder what Disney has planned as we are looking into USH passes going forward at this point. Keep up the good work and appreciate the professionalism in your streams.
Just out of morbid curiosity, I wonder how many people cant book through their phone vs their computer? My wife and I can never get a reservation through our phones but on the computer, its a breeze. We went twice in two weeks making reservations online.
The news is baaaackk!!! Wheeeee!!! | Disney is always leaving its customers in the dark, but this time around especially, considering we haven't heard anything from poet Kenny P. Certainly they've got to make sure every t is double crossed and every ï is dotted twice this time before any news of a new offering. I just hope the current lawsuit and negative feedback doesn't end up hurt or limit somehow, the offerings released come time for the new pass structure in August. Could a top tier with "No Block-out Dates" be the days of the past?
I have four believe keys.. they all hold a 50% discount on parking however my kids don’t drive nor do we need two cars to drive us to the park but still have to pay half of parking… can’t I just scan my pass and my husbands pass for parking since we carpool.. the magic keys were a test drive for sure even when first got pass the capacity was sweet then all of a sudden it went out the window and still reserved day with a packed park 🥴 will see what Disney has up The sleeve but I personally don’t think price increases I think price adjustments for each tear
I guess we dodged the snap. We bought our Dream Keys in August but still haven’t activated them. Because… reasons. It will be interesting to see if we will run into any issues, should the program be changed. For example: If the Dream Keys remain paused (as you suggested) and current Dream Key Holders get bumped to the Believe Key when they renew, at what point will there cease to be a Dream Key reservation calendar? What will happen to Key Holders like us?
The fact that Disney is pulling this tactic 2 years in a row is a scummy business practice trying to pad their pockets and make things look better to the board, meanwhile screwing over the guests. Guests are no longer the priority and it shows.
I pay $900 a night for a room, $500 for 2 passes $1000 for 3 meals a day. Disneyland cost’s 4K. $399/40 visits = $10 a day. MP holders think a visit to a 10 Billion dollar resort should cost less than a cheeseburger, that’s delusional.
Even for folks out of state like I am, before the shutdowns, the AP was still a cost effective way for someone to make two weeklong (7-8 day) vacations there (parking, discounts, etc.) versus daily tickets. As this is no longer the case, our future trips will be limited to five days (the longest pass they sell) and will cost more. On the plus side, extra days can now be spent for visiting other places like Knott's, Universal, etc. I've had APs most years since 1995, so it will be weird getting used to not being able swing in to the park for an hour on the first or last day of a trip. Interesting times!
The lawsuit seems reasonable to me. If you paid $$$$ for a Magic Key, and you want to go to the parks on a day that your Key is not blocked out, then if a reservation is available to ANYONE for that date at the time you're trying to get it, it should be available to you. What was happening was reservations were showing as available to "new money" daily ticket purchasers for the same date for which Keyholders were being told no reservations were available. No reservation available for you, the loyal Keyholder, but if you want to pay cash for a day ticket for that date--hey, you're in! Not at all what I would expect. I'm SO glad I did not buy a Magic Key!
Love these types of videos! You’re fantastic. As far as the reservation system goes, it’s a pain, but we can handle it BUT, when there’s no reservations for pass holders but there are for single day tickets, that’s a PROBLEM.
How are you gonna handle it when their will be no more summer of fun at Disneyland…once that magic is gone you will only be able to buy 3- day passes and they won’t be cheap
@@Soulsurviver22 My particular pass blocks out the summer dates. This will only heighten my enjoyment and anticipation of going back to Disneyland once the park is open to me once again.
This made me so angry that I decided not to renew my dream key. The quality of food has gone down yet the price went up. I would rather save my money for my DVC trip each year. I went years without going or having a pass. I love going but not so much that I want to spend that much money to not be able to go whenever I want.

As of this moment the only key that is available for purchase is the Inspire key @1599 all other keys are for renewal only which sucks. 😢

That’s nice. I’ll be at Universal Studios. Maybe I’ll go back in a few years if they fix Bob Cheapskate’s major screwups.
I don’t get why people insist on saying this on Disneyland videos. Like, that’s fine. One less person in line.
Thanks for the breakdown 👍🏻. I’ll sleep better tonight … and dream of keys 😉

Damnit god. It hurts more because I think you’re right. 😂😂
I need a pass/key with parking. That’s all I am asking for
I was in no way confused by the blackout/reservation thing - the lawsuit seems silly to me.. but not everyone reads the fine print
Dream Keys sold, no problem. Black out days, never been a problem. Prices go up upon renewal, expected. Maybe 5%. Not 50%.

I wish they would offer a master key that had no reservations, I’d pay $5000 for that!
Greed at its best and incredibly short sighted for a company.
while I agree with you in theory, Disneyland has been raising it's prices every year and the parks just get busier and busier with very few exceptions
