I didnt understand the words to her songs but I felt them in my soul!! if she were born in America, I could easily see her as a gospel singer, or a soul singer. She opened my mind to so much music, and I am truly greatful. She was such a beautiful spirit, and always held herself with such pride. Truly Amazing!!

You are so right! I often thought the same thing....she definitely had the voice to sing anything she wanted , unfortunately she never was able to learn English very well. I have seen old interviews talking about it , Lol..... Well, I have seen so many live concerts of her and she was absolutely incredible....her voice would not fail in any performance for many years ...of course later in her career her range diminished some but it was a career that lasted over 50 years......she died doing what she loved and I truly don't think there will be nobody in latino music that will ever duplicate her talent!!

El Callao como ciudad salsera nunca la olvida y es un lujo ver este video para la posteridad. Every Cuban knows that, the guaguanco is a rhythm of our African roots, so it is kinda of an overstatement to say that and also creates a false narrative that Cubans dont cultivate their African roots when the entire Cuban music is rooted in African heritage.
