Hi Lauren. I’m setting up a marine tank on a canister filter. Do you use a auto top up for your tanks. Mine is 120L tank. I cannot make my mind up if it’s worth it or not due to them not been fully reliable. Don’t want to flood my house. Keep up the good content.
I got the one that connects to my canister filter so it filters the surface water and also like normal and can be adjusted so air isn’t drawn in. Fluval makes one and there are off brands on amazon. That pump you have may be able to be piped into the suction of your canister filter instead of going right back into the tank. It looks pretty cool.
I tried cannister and even that Eheim skimmer when i made the move from fresh to salt. That tank was only 100L so I saw impacts much quicker. I think the size of your tank and its not overstocked helps a lot to the success of the cannister. Its not a Protein Skimmer its a Surface skimmer. So many new things to learn about and there was NOTHING that even showed how daunting it was to bridge over. I cant wait to see you get hooked up with one of the good Aussie Sump companies. Do you check the FB pages for reefing? I hate FB but it has heaps of good stuff for reef.
Just found your channel love it so far, I have a 75 gallon salt water tank with a fluvial fx4 canister also the sk 65 surface skimmer. The sk 65 does a great job of removing the surface film. I am battling high nitrates at about 40 ppm. I do weekly water changes of about 20% and clean out the canister every other week, which is a chore-about 1.5 hrs!! I am breaking down and going to get a HOB reef octopus skimmer. Are you able to keep your nitrates low? Great videos thanks John
Thank you 😊😊 oh awesome! In all honesty, I haven’t actually tested my water yet 😬😬 i tested it when it was in the 3ft tank, but since being in the 6ft I haven’t taken my water to be tested yet. I have finally ordered a nitrate test kit, as it’s something I do get asked quite a lot. But yeah I figure, if I just be consistent with my maintenance and care for the tank and everything seems happy then I’m not too bothered about numbers. 😬 so I’ll keep you posted haha
Using it for my freshwater 150gal freshwater cichlid tank. Because you know.. Cichlids stay cichlids. Very messy😅 I really love it tho. The only thing I hate is that it's a mini sponge and I have 2 clean it about every day / couple days because it's full of dirtyness. Wish they had a bigger one.
I'm also a broke reefer lol. I find myself shooting for the "reasonably" priced equipment. It'll get the job done, but when your channel starts raking in the money and you can upgrade you will notice the difference lol.
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren same. I bit the bullet and got ai prime 16hd after 2 years with a current usa lights and my corals just surviving. The color change and growth of my coral was amazing.

I just bought 3 of them for my saltwater aquarium, because of your review. Thank you so much.
Oh awesome! No worries, they are great 👌👏😊
How did it go? I'm curious thinking about buying one
Great to actually see the effect of each product. Great vid. 👍
Thank you 😊😊😊
I believe it’s option B, also you can setup your canister filter output in a spray bar and point it up a little so it agitate the water
Thank you! 🙏 yes! I’ve been thinking of doing this, great idea!
Nice! I use to have a 175 gallon now I just want a simple nano and this will be perfect
Oh awesome! 👏 sounds good 😊

Great video
Thank you so much!! 🤩🙌🙌🙌
So look like the little skimmer just pushes the oil around the tank. How does that solve the problem the oil will still be in the tank?
Ur tank will benifit greatly from a bcb basket in tank or canister with kitty litter n red clay

Haha option B. However I needed someone to correct me the first time I tried to pronounce it. Good vid too!
Haha thank you 😊😊
I bough one in China for 6$… Took all the oil film off my 120G in about 20 min! Highly recommend

Simply the best!
Thank you 😊😊
The first try of pronunciation of Eheim have been the correct way.
Thank you 🙏
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren Greetings from 🇩🇪
(B is correct and the very first try)
The next time you can try to pronounce Tunze 😀
@@neptunes_pot hahaha oh yeah, I’m definitely going to say that wrong too. 🤣🤣
B comes closest, but the first E is pronounced like the a in ‘say’. Ay-haim.
I'm waiting for the version of this skimmer from UNS
Awesome!! Hehe I’m sure you’ll like it! 😁🙌
Great Video. Just increase your surface agitation to get rid of the surface skim.
Thank you 😊😊 will do!
You better go with a tunze filter or tunze doc skimmer
I use B. New sub here 👋 love your tank.
Thank you so much 😊😊
They need to improve this and add guard to the top

Hahaha I’m sure the proper stuff is amazing. One day I hope to be able to afford such things 🤣

Oh cool!! Yeah would be interesting to see the difference 😊👌
I have one of these on my 50 gallon reef and it really does work but sadly you can get exactly the same thing from China for a fraction of the cost.
Really! Ah bummer! Might have to get my other 7 from China then 😜 haha ah well I’m happy with it and got delivered quick so that’s the main thing. 😊😊
