- This might bring some relief to all of those people who've been complaining about the problems caused by tricycles on Commonwealth.
Aside from the tricycle ban, many vehicles were ticketed or towed for illegal parking on the sidewalk or road.
Commonwealth is already a difficult area for commuters. Let's not make things even harder for them, by filling the sidewalks with parked vehicles, stalls and canteens.
Note: The e-trike drivers said they do have a permit from the City, to ply Commonwealth. But they still need to follow the other rules of the road and consider their passengers safety - Розваги

You see, the vendors there are "PERMITTED" by the Brgy/LGU. They pay rent to the Brgy so they can "BLOCK" the sidewalk with their paninda/products. It's a sickness that is now a norm because they "PAY RENT". When it's just the enforcers, they cannot do much. I just hope there are like Bong's team per brgy/LGU so that there will be someone who will enforce the discipline every minute. Coz let's face it, rules/laws are only followed if there are "HONEST and DILIGENT" enforcers present but when the cat is away, the mice will play and assume control.
Fantastic video as always. Thank you for bringing awareness to these issues. The vendors blocking the sidewalk is so ___g annoying. Fine them all. Putting pedestrians in danger.
The frustrating thing is, they've already taken so much space, by grabbing the easements. Why do they need to insist on taking more and more, until they also consume the sidewalk and sometimes the first lane of the road? 🤷
@@GadgetAddict The problem with people like that is they have no civic sense and just lack any sense of caring about others...until a POLITICIANS loved one gets their legs broken by a passing bus because they had to walk on the road. Then watch how fast things are enforced!
And cyclist who have bike lanes, but being pushed into middle of commonwealth due to PUV using the bike lanes...
I'm a rider for 2 years and counting now and I still dont get why some riders put helmets on their elbows, resting helmets on their heads, and even not wearing one at all. Wearing a helmet is the very least one can do to protect themselves from accidents. The whole body is exposed when riding a motorcycle unlike driving a car.
I completely agree. I just don't understand it at all. Wearing a helmet is so simple, and the protection is offers is so significant.

I am appalled at just how many motorcycle drivers and tricycle drivers are driving without a license.
These are just the stupid ones. The smart ones wear authorized helmets and regulation shoes to avoid getting flagged down.
Only pnp personnel could get away with that.

@Gadget Addict is there a truck ban in edsa? looks like no one is implementing it, most especially at midnight up to 4am. most of them are dump trucks, theres no way they are garbage trucks because most garbage trucks are marked and not hauling gravel or sand

How come there are so many vendors in they sidewalks.
That's the unfortunate reality of what happened to Commonwealth.
Over the years, the easements and sidewalks were converted into vending sites, repair shops, car washes etc.
And it's all having a big negative impact on the highway and everyone who relies on it for transport purposes.

It's a joke about how many riders and drivers will say "Diyan Lang Ako" when flagged down for whatever violation.
Essentially, "I'm just going there"
Hence the DILAG joke was created.
Actually someone else came up with it, but I found it pretty humourous and actually because it's so memorable, I feel like more people are thinking twice about those rules that they never used to take seriously.

@@GadgetAddict No, he used the fast lane (left most lane), I actually encountered one this morning, the tricycle fully loaded with things. He only turn back to the right side when it is already near the interchange.
Ah right yeah. That's one of the hotspots for problems with tricycles.
I'm not sure why the fixed-post enforcers are usually ignoring the tricycles in that area, even if they're counterflowing.
The MMDA even installed extra CCTV in that area, so they can monitor the problems from the office, and then give advice to those on the ground to fix it.

Despite the frequent operations and enforcement of the tricycle ban, you'll unfortunately still see a huge number of tricycles that travel on Commonwealth.
I witnessed an annoying situation one time on Commonwealth.
A tricycle driver ran away from enforcers and for some strange reason, the security guard at a Government agency, along Commonwealth, allowed the tricycle driver to pass through their property and make an escape.
He might think he's helping the driver, but in the long run, he's doing more harm than good.

According to the drivers, they do have a permit to ply commonwealth. But of course they still need to follow the other rules of the road.
Per LTO AO 2021-039 - "Concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) may authorize these types of vehicles through an ordinance, whether private or "for hire," to traverse national highways or main thoroughfares, but they must be restricted to the outermost part of the highway."
That's specifically for category L4 and L5 electric vehicles.
Although a couple of the e-trikes said they're not included in the permit, but they still ply Commonwealth anyway, daw

My city encourages vendors to set up entirely on the street, there is no sidewalk so.pedestrians have to walk down the one lane and usually choose to do so in the middle of the one traffic lane paying no attention to vehicular traffic.

They got to have a plan first where the tricycle will be going if they are banned in the high ways. LIKE THE MABUHAY LANE they will set up first links along municipalities so that they can solve the long main problem....

Soliven Area, Commonwealth is still the biggest offender not only blocking the bike lanes, but can be 3lanes more... In total 4lanes being used by Buses and Jeepney and UV. Right Infront of a Barangay outpost, of course they don't do anything as they're "friends"...
Some cyclist even end up in the middle of commonwealth and not their assigned bike lanes... No courtesy or respect

Taxi/tnvs: Will probably have to dish out at least Php500 per trip.
It's still at P300 right now. Quite a pittance, all things considered.
It would certainly need to be much higher, if it's expected to be an effective deterrent.
Although personally I don't think coding is an effective method of reducing the number of vehicles on the road anyway.

They're not likely to run out of vehicles to tow, any time soon.
Although there is a pending bill - house bill 31.
This bill would require people to have a parking space before they can buy or register a vehicle.
Of course it won't be perfect, but it should dramatically reduce the number of illegally parked vehicles, which are causing so much congestion in Metro Manila.

And there's plenty of roads which run beside Commonwealth too.
Part of being public transport is that you abide by the limits of your franchise or permit.
