lol right! At first I thought 'awesome, maybe we can make them look like our pets!', then I realized how much more time Id end up spending on rescue missions.
It is worth pointing out that on the discord the Idea was floated to say that the Kittens have 9 lives, and on the last one retire, so you don't have to feel too guilty about killing them
I wanted to point out with HarvestR that he has made some commits to their codebase recently as you can see in the discords changelog channel, under the alias psykomantabrain "minor refactorings and a few new docstrings as I trawl through the existing codebase" and "middle-clicking a celestial body in the UI list now focuses the camera on it" was his commit messages, so he's doing some actual coding work on the game, and considering he said he was "trawling" thru the existing codebase, i expect that he just recently started working on it and will do more in the future This will be such a huge middle finger to the corporate gaming industry, showing that the IP never mattered, what matters is openness and community
Thanks for adding this, that is awesome and I love that he is involved! This dev team seems to understands the openness and community aspect, and like you said, that matters way more than the IP
Gamers don't want brand name scop, they want quality and if the name happens to match that's a bonus, But if it doesn't who da fuq cares. Look at SIm City, shat itself in the late 2000s then was replaced by Skylines. None of us even blinked at the new name and studios. We just want good games.
With HarvesteR and Blacktrack, and a focus of ground up system creation, they have my interest. I have great hope for the KSA :) 'RELEASE THE KITTIES!' -Nathan Explosion
Hi, free interactions from me. You have some good editing and voice over content, plus one of the few talking about this. I was following a couple threads about KSP 2 and heard the phrase KSA and wanted to explore it. And now I am really excited about this one cause it sounds like they know the community they are targeting, unlike the major publisher. (How could a publisher be concerned about graphics over mechanics when the game is 90% math) Awsome video!
Thank you, I appreciate that! I completely agree. Seems like marketing was leading a lot of the decisions over at private division, but at least KSP2 had one of the best trailers for a game I have seen in a while.
I hope this private equity firm offers the KSP IP for sale. They make money by ripping apart the company. And selling parts. The codebase for KSP 2 is dead. And it was never perfect/good etc. So no real loss there. But simply the name and little green guys would mean a lot for KSA
@@jimmyjohns3261why are you a condescending asshole? You used a dollar sign so that means you talk dollars. If you dont specify then dont get butthurt someone doesnt know you talk canadian or australian dollars, those countries are utterly irrelevant on a world scale and no one outside those countries thinks of them when they see a dollar sign.
The custom engine work being priority plus the inclusion of members of the original dev team and best modders is IMO extremely promising. Indicates that these guys are focused in the right places right now. Not that art design isn't important at all, but for games like this where the simulation is such an integral part of the gameplay, a solid engine has got to be No.1 on the list always.
I will never get over the fact that HarvesteR somehow managed to convince a marketing firm of all companies, to develop a game, not to mention a physics-one game like KSP. Though heard that HarvesteR did work hard to get the company to somehow make the game
I'm so glad they seem to be welcoming of modding, mods are what what keeps a game alive, most the biggest games that are 10+ years old have a huge library of mods and addons, look at minecraft for example just some of the mods alone have hundreds of millions of downloads. It allows all aspects of a community to interact with the same game in any way they want, that would just not be possible to create with a single dev team. And with Blackrack on the team I don't think they would just turn their back on the modders.
I agree, mods also breathe new life into the vanilla game! After I have played a game for a while with a dozen or so mods I will usually go back and replay the vanilla experience before adding in new mods again.
@SpunieBard I was specifically thinking monkeys and dogs because they been used as "test subjects" irl. But I'd be down for loads of cute and cuddly animals to blow up... now that I think of it as well if it shows the crew members like ksp it'd be possible to have a fox rabbit frog and falcon in the corner. Hmmmmmm. Lol
I hope that the amount of people involved with KSP2 are kept at a minimum for the development of KSA. Harvester is the real hope that this can get to be a "good" game.
Good content on this channel, subbed. But I want to warn you guys and chill down a little the hype over this. As someone working in AAA industry, can assure you that code is more or less 15% of what’s needed to make a good game. And having your own custom engine might sound like a great cool thing, from programmers point of view. But when you come to start actually bringing real content into the game, having a proper asset pipeline is crucial. Models, animations, sound, UI, effects, particles, decals, you name it. Those need visual instrumentation for artists to work with, and if you’re going to ask them to fill out XML files or smth, they will quit or be just very underperforming. Making a tech AND a game at the same time, especially a 3D one with multiplayer (they kinda promised it), is an immense challenge even for a AAA studio, not mentioning a small team of gamedevs. What I see there on their discord is mostly programmers, and that worries me a lot. I really hope this will succeed, but I’m cautiously pessimistic
Thanks! That's a fair take and it is definitely a good idea to keep the hype train from moving too fast. Really enjoy hearing the perspective of someone in the industry.
Thank you, excellent video! I will never forgive Intercept games for their mismanagement of KSP2. They screwed up everything they possibly could have, and then some. Their managers should never have any authority over any game development again, ever! They made the most basic of misjudgments which cost them their jobs and killed what would have been the best game ever, IMO. F*ck them all! They need to be held up as the perfect example of how NOT to develop a game. I hope and pray that KSA comes to fruition, and soon. I spent a fortune building a streaming and UA-cam studio specifically for KSP2, and it's just sitting there rotting away. I know I could stream other games, but KSP was the only one I was good enough at for people to bother watching.
There is so much salt from the community you could turn the med into a salt flat. I personally have blacklisted T2 and Private Division. I LOVED KSP1 and will look forward to kitten space agency. For the history nerds KSP was Rome, KSP2 was the Italians in WWII and KSA only needs to be Byzantium to be worthy of the mantle.
If it is small animals instead of only kittens that would be cool. This is exciting. My new pc parts arrive today and you can be your ass I will go back to ksp after almost 10 years
If they do multiplayer, from everything Ive heard it has to be designed from the start. So either its multiplayer now or never. Personally I don't see the value of multiplayer in most games that have it. I never felt like I needed a friend in KSP and what exactly are two friends doing while designing rockets? You'd essentially just be playing in parallel? I dont get the appeal of multiplayer or why so many people desire it in so many games. Maybe its because I just have a very limited pool of friends who game and niche games like this arent going to appeal to enough of them for us to be available to play together with any consistency that makes it worth it for me. Same with subnautica. Like the game was better BECAUSE you were alone. Adding multiplayer for the sequel changes the entire nature of the game.
@@la1m1e Who really does missions like that in multiplayer though? What's the point of doing multiplayer if one player is going to be across the solar system anyways? My point is, there are many other physics sandbox games, less capable than KSP, that are still extremely fun to play, mostly due to the multiplayer features.
Thank god multiplayer is a fundamental design decision they've gone with. I want to be able to build up satellite communications networks with my friends, to build multi part space stations where we each control a section or to be able to have space center flying sessions, etc. Just because you don't want to play with anyone doesn't mean the rest of the community feels the same.
Multiplayer or not is one of those fundamental decisions, trying to change course later is a terrible idea. But it doesn't come for free, it makes every part of development more complex. Maybe you'd rather take any risk to gain multiplayer, including the game never being released. Just because you want that doesn't mean the rest of the community feels the same. If you want multiplayer, why not play KSP2? I'm sure nothing can go wrong with following in its footsteps.
Again why are we saying this game is gonna be the successor to ksp. We already did this with ksp2 and it flopped. Bro yall need to wait before saying these things
i know elon musk plays kerbal, he's talked about it, how hilarious would it be if instead of buying msnbc or whatever they are talking about, if he bought the rights to ksp2. i'm sure there will be plenty of legal hoops and tape, but i chose to root for this timeline. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
this game is gonna guilt trip me every time I accidentally kill the crew 😭
lol right! At first I thought 'awesome, maybe we can make them look like our pets!', then I realized how much more time Id end up spending on rescue missions.
That's why we have quicksaves
If KSP made me have a rescue trip planned just so my kerbals are safe, all my ships on KSA are gonna have like 17 escape systems just in case
Imma send kittens into space for 120 years at a time
It is worth pointing out that on the discord the Idea was floated to say that the Kittens have 9 lives, and on the last one retire, so you don't have to feel too guilty about killing them

The Floppa Space Administration (FSA) IS BACK WITH KSA!!!!!
Remember KSP fans. Boycott GTA6 for what take two did to the sequel of our favorite game.
i hope KSA buys the rights to the the kerbals so you can visit Kerbin and unlock them as playable. lll miss Jeb, Bill, and Bob
Bouta install BDArmory in Kitten Space Agency

Hopefully KSA ends up happening and being good. I’d like to see a better version of BDA because it’s a little lacking and needs more base content

I'll believe it when I see it. Just like I said for KSP2. Good news so far tho.
Spunie!! Getting into the weeds. Let’s GO!!!
The fact they are building an engine dedicated to the game is promising
I think its what needed to happen for KSP2 to be successful, so I agree, it gives me a lot of hope for this one

80$? The game is 50 bucks

Can't wait to push the boundaries of space-travel with KSA. This is gonna be huge and im all for it!
Greed killed KSP2. Not a lack of ability to finish it.
Does anyone know anything about how ram intensive KSA will be and what type of cpu/gpu we're looking at with this game?

Why don't they just call the game Rocketwerkz too?

Skip to 4:34 if you've already heard everything about KSP2.
Interstellar travel also means coding relatevistic mechanics, will they really be doing it? Hope they are already
It's not really necessary. You could implement it, but it's a game, it doesn't have to be 100% realistic.
Good news. Finnaly some one that actually don't put the graphics first and make players a proces of development. The rest will be history for sure !
I can imagine if the game is moddable, that there's going to be a Kerbol Solar System mod that is released for this game
Maybe they should have it so that you can change the species from a list even have mod support so you can have any critter you want in charge
That's a great idea! If its not included in the vanilla game, it looks like that's definitely something mods could add.
I think it'd be neat to include or a later mod that adds a race of monkeys and dogs

I will miss the good ol' space frogs though.

Wonder if it would be possible for the community to pool their money to purchase the Kerbal IP from whoever bought it, and gift it to the KSA devs….
