From what I know the conversation of Abu Sufyan to muslims goes like this- He was standing on a rock from where it is visible for him to see how many muslims there are ( like to get an idea and all) then Abbas (prophet pbuh's uncle) sees him (when he was on rounds) and gets behind Abu Sufyan ,"Is your hate and enmity still not gone Abh Sufyan ?" Says Abbas RA ( I don't remember what exactly Abu Sufyan responded) then Abbas ra asks him to sit behind him on his horse and take him to prophet pbuh . Abbas ra asks Abu Sufyan "are you ready to convert to Islam?" Which Abu Sufyan responds with "no I'm not ready" then when they go in the tent where prophet pbuh was there , prophet asked him the same question which he responded the same way as he did to Abbas ra so prophet pbuh suggested Abu Sufyan to stay a night with Abbas ra (also in middle of this Umar ra came in and asked the permission of beheading Abu Sufyan on spot there to prophet pbuh which was was rejected by prophet pbuh as his uncle brought him) Abbas was convincing Abu Sufyan the whole night and the next day when prophet pbuh asked Abu Sufyan "are you ready?" He responded with " yes ,I am" (also my teacher said that in middle of reciting the shahada , Abu Sufyan got scared and told prophet pbuh " wait something feels off" after which prophet pbuh consulted him by saying that if he doesn't do this , his faith isn't complete) and i got this from my Islamic studies teacher and a few book and few webs so ye , correct me if I'm wrong :D (sorry for my bad English as it's not my first language).
