Not many guests could steal Dave's thunder like that. The "You really don't need me out here, do you?" just killed me.

Steal his thunder??? What thunder? Letterman is the blandest, most boring entertainer in modern history. The only interesting thing about him is how he was allowed to continue hosting this show for so long.

Apparently you’ve never watched Leno. Or hell, virtually any of the late night hosts today.

Jackie Mason is on fire here. I love to see a performer who can barely contain their genius. It was exploding out of him. You get a sense that material writing was never an effort for him. He was just flowing with ideas. Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers and Jackie Mason are the three greatest stand up comedians of all time.

Is there someone else than Jackie MASON that can just show up and put you in a good mood instantly.

Mason on top of his game here. I believe Letterman was truly getting annoyed toward the end. Mason had fun with it.

When you have a personality like David Letterman you do NOT invite a man like Jackie Mason on your show. Poor Dave never stood a chance!

We need more people Like Mr. Mason. A little intelligence is getting hard to find. Hay this was when David Letterman was funny and before he turned into a liberal hate-mongering jackass. I miss the old David Letterman.

Letterman is clearly upstaged by Jackie and looks very uncomfortable. Jackie is a great solo comedian and not a team player to Letterman's chagrin.

Letterman, who I think is the greatest late night host in television history, seems strangely out of his element with Jackie Mason, who I also think is beyond brilliant. It's somewhat surprising. I think Johnny Carson would have been (was) more comfortable with Jackie, but I will have to search youtube to look for evidence I'm correct. Not even sure if Mason appeared with Carson at this point.

This was when Letterman was good. Too bad he went down the tubes. Jackie Mason was the best. Smart comedy.

Letterman was indeed uncomfortable, especially toward the end, as Mason never let him get a word in. In the first segment he rolled with it, but at the end, not so much. Having said that, if you watch some other clips of Letterman (who I love, BTW) with comics of the older generation such as Dangerfield, Hope, etc., he is never as comfortable or witty as Johnny Carson was with them. Letterman is great with his own kind.

Letterman drank the cbs Kool aid and it poisoned him.

Sadly he succumbed to the leftists pressure - nothing like when he (Mason) was on Carson.

I have always concluded that David Letterman never really cared for his guests because he didn't have to: be was the highest paid anchor of his time. Sheesh.

The crowd definitely on Jackie’s side. Letterman was a deer in headlights at the end while everybody was cracking up and he is as stiff as a board. Johnny would have been on the floor. Letterman was so awful: he looked out of place, his body language was atrocious, he wasn’t smooth and his deliveries stank. How he survived as long as he did, I don’t know…

Jackie is his usual funny self. Letterman has no sense of humour and is a bore. How he ever had a show is beyond me.

  • @hymansahak181
    @hymansahak181 4 роки тому +3

Letterman just plain sucked always. He has nothing to say and mumbles when he does, his timing is always off and he is not funny. How he is considered the best late night host is beyond logic. I guess he had good connections and knew how to sell and market himself.

What ruined Dave’s show? Going to CBS. No more sneakers and Khaki pants. No more Worlds Dangerous band. All the goofy skits, gone. Chris Elliot, Larry Bud Melman...
Dave in glasses and cigar, expensive double breasted suits. Paul, no more jeans and Hawaiian shirts, expensive suits, with the CBS Orchestra! Jamming with rock n roll stars of old and current fame? Nope! crazy Dave? Nope. Cynical, angry Dave. Stupid Pet tricks? Nope. Not on his big deal CBS show. Only occasional bits. Dave with the audience? Nope.
Remember Hello Delli? The girl working late in the office across the street in the other building? Not on Dave’s CBS show. No common people in that show. Nope. Dave hit the big time! And he was mad at Jay Leno. Ok. Get over it! If you ask me, he never did. He’s still trying to be humorous out of anger, skepticism and Cynicism. It is what made him uncool.
