This was filmed in my hometown in N. Central Missouri, where I still reside! The big house still is there just a few blocks from my house, which was my paternal grandparent's house they built in 1955. It stands just outside one of the entrances to Simpson park which has a dramatic role in the movie. It's a pretty park with practically a forest of enormous old oak trees. Our town has grown to about 10,000 people from the approx 1,000 then. The scenes set outside of town in the country were filmed (in beautiful late spring) north of town a few miles between here & a town called Jamesport, which has a large population of Amish & Mennonite people. If u were able to locate the exact area where those scenes were shot, you'd find it looks almost exactly now as back then. The teenage hangout was just outside the city limits & was open til the late 60's-early 70's. I was born in '65 & I don't ever remember it being where my Granny said it had been, so it went out of business when I was very young. I don't know why they didn't show more of the town. It's always been a quaint, clean little town. As for the high school, it was built somewhere around 1930 (give or take a couple years). Granny graduated there in 1938. My father was going to that high school when this filmed. He graduated in 1960. Then around 2000 they built a new high school & used the old one for the junior high (or middle school, as its mostly called now). My oldest daughter attended 7th & 8th grade there but the 3rd floor at that time was unusable. Then, it was finally completely torn about 2009-10. I hated to see it go because it still looked much like it did in this movie & not terribly different when Granny attended (so she said) just a little shabbier. I am fond of old, vintage things & buildings in relatively original condition or so, between that & the fact that there was so much family "history" associated with it, I was terribly sad to see it go. Such emptiness there now. Imo, sometimes progress sucks. I've been an avid fan of old movies from the time I was about 10. I get a kick out of these old B flicks. I hope y'all found it to your liking, as well. 😀🎥
Reading your reflections I felt as if you could have been writing about my own home town, right down to referring to the school as the "middle school". This movie must be very special to you. I really enjoyed it.
I've been a fan of movies of this style my entire life, and I'm not a youngin', but I'd never seen this one before Thanks for introducing me to a very cool flick!
I had a friend back in High School who graduated at 22, and he looked about the same age as Ashley in this movie. Olivia Newton-John was 30 when she made a teen in Grease. It's a common thing in Hollywood, i guess.
The bullies in the leather jackets would have been in the jungle a couple of years later, getting their toughness tested by a North Vietnamese regiment.
Maybe the record was stuck? Maybe there was nothing else to dance to. Maybe the director like “youth movie” directors of all youth movies everywhere, didn’t have a clue about youth. Or possibly couldn’t give a damn.
John Ashley as the bad boy, Frankie and Annette would be so surprised. They would have tried to ban him from the beach, or at least make him join the Eric Von Zipper gang.
Yeah. Have you seen Hot Rod Gang? He plays a drag racer in that one too. I dunno why his career went south after this movie and he just basically stood there and didn't do much in those Beach movies.
This movie came out when I was 4 yrs. Old. When I was in high school we had the hippy generation. This looks so tame compared to our high school days. Especially the music.
if you think about it, it feels like a modern criticism of capitalism, showing the main villian, Matt, as a spoiled boy who would rig everything to his pleasing like most corperations and the other guys trying to fight back. Like the lower class’ uproar against the upper class
Hated this flick....too much of a reminder of how painful the bullying was back in the day for me. Great film though...can't take that element away. So many memories of the 60s....
@Sharon Qaranivalu: I'm very sorry u were bullied when u were younger. I was born in '65 so obviously most of my school years were in the 70's. I seriously doubt bullying had waned much from what it was in the 60's. I endured my share of crap from different sources (as most do to some degree or another) throughout elementary & junior high years, but it had completely abated by my sophomore year. I can't begin to imagine what u must've gone thru that was so horrible it still haunts u even now. Whatever happened, be it verbal/emotional, physical, or both, I'm just so sorry that those people were so mean to u. I truly hope that someday you are somehow able to come to terms with what happened back then & you can finally have peace of mind. I sincerely wish I had some advice to help u achieve those things, but, unfortunately, I don't. Take care, Sharon. I wish u the best of everything!
How could a film this dated, bad and corny remind anyone of real bullying? *”So many memories of 60s”* Yes, High School Caesar is a film from 1960, but truth be told, 1960 was still very much part of the fifties era. Culturally, the Sixties as we knew it didn’t begin til after 11/22/63.
@@samuelademeso9041 Hi nerd. Women can dress better besides wearing ripped jeans, sweat pants, leggings, and pajamas in public. Only pansies like your father use the phrase, "Oh wait."
Sort of like the character, "Plato", in "Rebel Without a Cause". Poor rich kid always in trouble, cause his parents were always traveling, and leaving him alone, with the maid, even on this birthday. They sent him a check, but he wants them to be there with him. Why he's so bad.

J Riley thanks for sharing that..makes. MRE nostalgic..those were our days. The same for me now days with the Bronx Tale. Chaz . Palmiteri went to my high school.

Gary Vinson, soon to join the crew of PT 73 in 1962. McHale's Navy.
cool.
I’m sure it’s much different now, but in this movie the time and place, it looks like a classic Sundown Town.
Reading your reflections I felt as if you could have been writing about my own home town, right down to referring to the school as the "middle school". This movie must be very special to you. I really enjoyed it.
you never moved from there!?!?!?!?
What would we classic movie lovers do without you, PizzaFlix? Thanks for another goody!
Great flick. That's exactly how it was when I was in school at that time. Same old styles and fears of being a kid. Thanks.

A Excellent Movie.. Highly Recommended . Thank You Very Much For Sharing..
One of my all-time favorite movies!💕
The “High School” Caesar, John Ashley, was actually 26 when he made this teen movie. Thanks for these old movies 👍👍👍!!!

Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you!
Do the kids ever dance to any other song except the one that keeps playing over and over in the soda bar?

Seems like they put new music in this version
An awesome movie!
Neat music and really cool cars! Hey wait... isn't that guy's hand a bit "low" on that girl @ 29:26?
Thanks for another great movie!!

NOT BAD FOR AS OLD AS THIS MOVIE IS.

Hmm, it's a great Pleasure to watch this type of story but one thing worried me, are they Students or Bunch Of Hooligans 😢❤
Great movie
teenage politician and pampered punk
A great juvenile remake of "Little Caesar" with the great Edward G Robinson.
Females dressed better in 1960 compared to 2022.
Ok then go back to the 60s oh wait you cant

The Class of 1952. A bottle of Coke Cola: 25 cents. Minimum pay wage: 75 cents/hour. Matt Steven's gold coin: $100.00.. or as he says "Probably more!"

Crime does NOT pay. No matter what.
What an ending, man. Kids definitely did not practice the love your enemies principle Jesus taught
love the b music
Wonderful
High School Caesar ( 6:59 )
Maybe they should've given him a girlfriend, called her the High School Cleopatra, and had her do to the girls what he did to the boys

The 1960's and us bad boys. We would ditch class and sneak into the local movie theater without paying.

The student election at the beginning reminds me of the Biden presidency election. All fair and square, of course.
