  • In this video, I ride my bike along the Hudson River Valley Rail Trail paved path that follows the former route of the Hudson Valley Railroad. The trail is part of the Empire State Trail, a 750-mile multi-use trail that connects New York City to Canada and Albany to Buffalo. Along the way, I enjoy the scenic views of the river, the mountains, the farms, and the historic sites. I also stopped at some of the towns and attractions that are accessible from the trail, such as Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, New Paltz, and Walkway Over the Hudson to Hopewell Junction where the Hudson River Valley Rail Trail ends. I continued the Empire State Trail all the way to New York City and completed my adventure.

    Really cool bridge! This trail is beautiful! It looks like good weather. I love all the lakes! How do you stay warm when you camp? Thanks for taking us with you!

      New York is a beautiful state. Lots of waterfalls, lakes, creeks, rocks and canyons. It doesn't feel cold when camping because my sleeping bag is with liner and can handle freezing temps if needed and it's warmer inside the tent too. Also, if need I can layer myself up inside the sleeping bag. I'm well prepared.

      @FollowThomas it sounds like it. We camped when the night was cold last year and had to eventually go inside the truck. It was so 🥶. Looks like you had a lot of fun! 🙂

    Nothing like riding in fall weather up north. You really have the train thing figured out. I thought the number of bikes were limited on each train. Have you ever had an issue with that?

    • @FollowThomas
      @FollowThomas  Рік тому

      Yes, sometimes I can't get the bike space so I have to change my travel plans but usually it's available if you plan ahead. Early reservation is the key to getting cheaper tickets and bike space.
