Give them time. The first season with these two has already been produced, and work is beginning on Season 2. Going back and re-watching the 13th Doctor, you can tell they were trying to find their way. They did get better as they got into the second and third seasons. Chibnall made big mistakes with doing away with the past early and the ham-handed 'message' episodes. Then there was "The Timeless Child". Didn't really find their stride until the final season.
Why give them time? Their first episode was one of my favourites for years I think they have hit the ground running.

I absolutely agree with them that Doctor Who must be a feel good show. That’s one of the reasons why the 12th and 13th Doctor, even the 10th and 14th Doctor’s eras didn’t really work for me. I excited that Ncuti and RTD can bring back the joy of the show and not make us cry too much.
You need a perfect balance of both, the best shows are the ones that can make you go on a roller coaster of emotions. If you get too much of the « feel good show » then you’ll eventually get bored of it just like when it’s just sad all the time.
All you get from the new show is 2 teenage girls having fun, one a girl and the other being told the act like a girl.. new camp doctor... Just what we all want. 😂

@@sw-gs ... The vision of the original production team, and the brilliance of William Hartnell, yes, I think all of their opinon's would be horrified. The show slowly has been updated through the years, and it's not been much different, but now it's totally opposite the the original concept.
In my opinion they should create a new show, not Doctor Who, and leave what was a great drama sci-fi well alone.

The show has been pushed down into the toilet. Doctor Who is no longer what it once was. It is now just another vehicle for pushing the message and destroying English culture. An Indian Isaac Newton? What an insult! Time to put the show into the rubbish bin and leave it there.

@shemdellashemygd29 I did not outgrow the show, the show really drastically changed. I used to be part of the target audience, but now I am the target. Is it now become a vehicle for pushing, the message. Just like everything else that has started to push far leftist ideology, the show as well has gone into the toilet and it is time to flush it down the drain
English culture and white supremacy/ male chauvinism are not the same thing, I hate to tell you. Doctor Who is doing great at reflecting the whole culture, not just the bits you are attached to. Can't you open your heart to people not exactly like you enjoying it, too? It's an amazing world out there, and you're missing a lot of it.
@jonesnori not all cultures mix well. Sometimes the values are so dissimilar you will have a nasty culture Clash. Race swapping historically significant is an insult. @jonesnori the show used to be good but now it's pushing the idea that men are bad and women are great. It used to be that some people are good and some people are bad. Race and sex had nothing to do with it. It all comes down to personal accountability. Now Russell has stated he has decided to set out to annoy people. He won't retcon the Timeless child because he doesn't want to ruin what people before him did. However, the Timeless child threw away everything that predated Chris chibnall. Identity politics is just another form of Marxism.
