Love this vid/project. One of my most cherished items I get to enjoy everyday is one just like this that must be 50 yrs old, it was my Grandfather's. I just recently cleaned it up and gave it a fresh treatment. I have no idea what it was originally treated with. Now you've got me thinking about the perfect holiday gift!
Great video i made one out of oak pallet wood and it wouldnt spin it would just swing in the wind you could turn it freely by hand though could it have been to heavy maybe?

I would love to make these but when I tried searching for ready rods all that came up were fishing poles are they known by another name outside U.S. I live in Ireland

Ready rods are a metal rod that is like a long long screw without a head on it
