Yeah, it really is! I have collected up this video and forwards to now just to have something to watch from her. I love this channel with all the content
The amount of time you put into each hamster you bring into your family is so nice to see. You could easily just resuse the same enclosure for each subsequent one, fitting their breed, but you go out of your way to either build a completely new enclosure or retrofit an old one to accommodate the new addition, to the point its usually just shy of a new enclosure. Each enclosure has so much personality and clearly shows the time you've given them. The work you put in shows, and expresses your care and passion for your smallest family members. Besides your chaotic energy, the love you put into your projects is why I love watching this channel and supporting you.
From what I have read, red light is really good for animals, because they don't tend to be able to perceive it as well so you can see regularly in red light but the hamster will be unbothered! Also, i just want to say, thank you for the excellent sub titles, it's so nice to see non-auto generated subtitles.
i'm loving the little house you made for the new resident. my little hammy is getting a lakeside autumn forest theme with some spooky vibes for the season. :)
I remember years ago when I was watching your vids because they were interesting. Now I've got my own lil hamster and I'm appreciating everything you share even more. Thanks for another stellar video.
Always such genuinely enjoyable content!! I tend to send people this way when it comes to proper hamster care as it's definitely not talked about around where I live! You are making a difference, you and your content matter, your ability to be silly and real is incredibly valued and appreciated, even if we have trouble finding the words. Be safe, do things that keep you happy!! You're doing it right!!
Hamter owners just amaze me with their creativity! I don't think I'd personally ever get a hamter or rodent, but I looove following channels that show thier set ups and talk about hamters and such. So interesting
I don’t have a hamster, probably will never have a hamster as I have hedgehogs but omg I absolutely love watching your craftsmanship & pure dedication to give your lovely lil hamsters the best possible set up!!!❤❤❤❤
This is legitimate art. And excellent engineering. Your brain is a marvel! I often find myself inspired to be a more creative and educated pet owner each time you share your projects.
The light bit. Omfg. I adore this. This was medicine for the soul. Legit not doing so hot mentally and I've not laughed this way in a long time. I hope you're well, man. The enclosure looks gorgeous so far. 💜
i'm sorry if this is a bit more personal, but have you started transitioning? because if so it's so fucking cool that one of the channels i watched when i was younger is going the same way as i am and it makes me so happy
Red light is really good for the Hamster, too! I remember when I got my first Robo, he was terrified of the lights.. Whenever I would turn the main light on, he would run and hide. Once I changed the lamp to a red lamp however, he was a lot less scared!
Why kind of wood is the plywood? Do you need to treat it with something to make it "safe"? Do you put something into the flour glue to prevent the paper clay from molding? I really love your creativity!
I'm using birch plywood as it's the most common kind where I live, but you can use any kind made from a hardwood species. Also if you live outside of an EU country look for "NAF plywood" or formaldehyde-free plywood to ensure its safety. You can coat the wood with any food-grade or pet-safe varnishes if you want to protect the wood from moisture to prolong the lifespan, but you can use it untreated too. Avoid buying pre-treated plywood though as these might contain harmful substances. Flour glue can only mould if it remains moist for a long period of time, so as long as the clay is allowed to dry fully there's no risk for moulding. If you're concerned that your clay might take too many days to dry fully you can add a small amount of salt into the mixture to provide additional protection :)
Seriously, I love these videos, I know you have a life apart from being a UA-camr but I'm selfish and I would love these videos every week hehehe. As always amazing creations, you are so ingenious and creative. I wish I had your patience and expertise. Well done, I'll be waiting for the next one 👏🏼🎉
I've recently gotten into making my own reptile hides, and i've been using paper clay as well! Out of curiosity, why are you making your own? Is it a cost-saving measure, or is it to ensure your hamster's safety in case they chew on it, or is premade paper clay not easy to get in Cypress? My hides are for snakes, so eating the hide is not a concern for me lol.
Cost-saving reasons and convenience since I have an seemingly bottomless collection of egg boxes, cardboard, and paper tubes that can all be used for it :)
I was so amazed by the residential area of the hamster especially the roof. My brain could not even come up with that kind of design. Amazing! Edit: if I was a domesticated hamster, i would want to live there
The stand for this cage is from ikea, it's called the Kallax! Mine's a super old beaten up one that I did some repairs and custom work on, repainted it, removed one of the dividers, added custom drawer fronts etc. If you buy them brand new they can be a bit pricey, but they're not hard to find second hand as it's one of ikea's most popular furniture pieces :) (This is the unit on ikea's US website) www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/kallax-shelving-units-58285/
Hilariously my cat meowed the same time yours did, only have one AirPod in so it was in stereo mode with two diff cats yelling the same at the same time hahaha😅lmao
I love putting my colored lights on the enclosure. Hamsters can't see red light, so you can leave it on all the time and it won't bother them, but you will be able to see the hamster.
I didn't get a notification 😢 but I found your video 😊 Another spectacular creation... Love your work 😍 thank you for the inspiration as always Ollie 🥰
Oh, today is a great day, first 1989 Taylor's Version came out (any Swifties here 👀💙) and now Ollie posted! Also been waiting for some new hamster updates. ❤
Watching you play with those lights (LOL) made me suddenly wonder whether hamsters need UVB lighting? Since they're desert dwelling right? I'd love to know if that's being tried out in the hamster keeping community.
Immediately opening 16 different google tabs to research this because it's piqued my curiosity too 🧐😅 Initial info suggests that since hamsters get most of their vitamin D from a healthy balanced diet a UVB light probably wouldn't be needed, which makes sense since they are crepuscular/nocturnal and wouldn't often be out in daylight anyway, but I'm going to dig around and see if I can find out if anyone had actually tried UVBs for pet hamsters and whether or not it made any difference to their health.
This is so inspiring. I wonder what is a safe drop for a syrian hamster? I have done a higher up level in a hamster enclosure I am building but thinking I need to do a full level protection wall (thinking to do it out of perspex or like a wood/wire panel
For Syrians they can drop up to 20cm onto a hard surface, or up to 25 onto a soft surface and the risk of sustaining injury is low. If you're building anything above 20cm I would def recommend putting up a tall wall. Syrians are less likely to voluntarily jump from high places but it doesn't hurt to be cautious!
I really like your ideos and your passion for all things hamsters etc. You are really clever with ideas on keeping your critters happy and active. Well done. i can't wait to see your next video. PS I used to have a hamster when I was a child and wish I'd know all about their needs like you do. Ciao from Sicilia :) (another med island) Annette G.
Will you get more than 1 dwarf hamster for your new enclosure. I used to keep them & know how much these little hamsters love living with others, its also great watching how they interact together. Your enclosure is so lovely & big & are how😂❤ hamster enclosures should be. Love watching all your videos the.longer the better so please keep posting 🐹
Hamsters are solitary animals, it is a common misconception that it is okay to keep dwarves together! Only Campbell dwarves - very rarely found in most countries - are able to be kept together, but only by very experienced individuals and in the absolute optimum conditions with multiples of everything. Hamsters receive no benefits from being housed together, and it can be very risky if they were to suddenly turn on each other, which is sadly often and can be hard to notice when they are going to do so. :)
This might be a regional difference, in EU countries regular birch plywood is considered a safe material to use for pets as the EU has strict laws and regulations for the lumber industry. If you're in the US or Canada look for "NAF plywood" it uses natural adhesives instead of formaldehyde and should be safer for pets :)
i have seen people use red lights so they can film the hamsters at night. red light is supposed to not bother their nightime activities..... what do you think?
Yes red light is less perceivable to hamsters as they only see colours along the blue-green spectrum, as well as having naturally poor eyesight, so red is the best colour to use if you want to light your enclosure without disrupting their natural activities :)
why were you wearing gloves while making the rock wavy wall thingy? is it a sensory thing or do you just not want to have your fingerprints be traceable?
They were just to help get the texture right, I used bare hands later on the house walls when I wanted to achieve a slightly different texture. I'm not worried about my future hamster framing me for a bank heist or anything haha 😂
@SomethingAnimal I'd be careful if I were you tho. Coco once had access to my finger prints and framed me. I'm currently being trialed for tax fraud and attempted toe eating
Sorry for coming late LOL but I just wanna say that Ollie not painstakingly painting brickwork doesn't really give this enclosure the same vibes as past work XP no but seriously, this looks AMAZING!!!
Ollie ranting about different coloured lights for two minutes straight is the kind of quality content I'm here for.
#rgbgamerhamster
@@emmalouise543I’m not sure if it’s been said in a video yet but it’s been changed in the info section in all his social media platforms

It's a good day when Ollie posts.

How dare you accuse me of not being helpful?! Who made the popcorn I was munching on while watching you?! Me! The nerve of some people 😮
You know what you're right, my bad! I shall promote you to chief popcorn maker as an apology 🍿

You come up with some of the funniest lines - that bit with the holes just cracked me up so much ❤

Oliver back at it with the wiggly shelves - absolutely love it ✨

I love watching your own DIYs. Thanks.

Your hamster will be spoiled. This cage looks fantastic and I adore your level of details! Thank you for the long video ❤

Your creativity and DIY skills are off the charts. If reincarnation is a thing, may we all be reincarnated as one of Ollie's Hamsters.
ha I love this video!! *buying led strip lights for my hammy enclosure as we speak*
This is the best video yet! Please keep up the DIY! I promise to fully watch all ads and buy more stickers
Yay a new video, very exciting 😊 love them so much
This design reminds me so much of the mountain/rock towns in Pokémon. :)
The lights are so cool! The cage will be so beautiful.😍🐹❤👍🏻
Looking forward to the next video. Scratches for Elizabeth. Hugs
Dude I haven't had a hamster in years, I just freakin love your videos

Is it infrared they can’t see or any red at all?
Thank you for all the creativity you share. You are amazing. I have a question: Is MDF wood safe for pets?

this song is awesome. what's it called?
why were you wearing gloves while making the rock wavy wall thingy? is it a sensory thing or do you just not want to have your fingerprints be traceable?
