This video and your others of The Holme Valley are such a treasure, thank you. Measured, fascinating commentary and no intrusive background music! Thank you so much. I was always fascinated by the many springs and wells in the valley providing water for the little communities and their animals.

Hi David, I worked at Yew Tree Mill 20-odd years ago, good to see it again. It's present owner is a bit suspect, I've worked for him too! (Hield Bros., Brigella Mill, Bradford)

Hello! It's the lady who was chatting to you both this morning above Booth House where I live. It was nice to meet you both.
    I said I'd send you a message.
Yes, it's nice to get to know the name of each town, village and hamlet in the area. I know a little about the area as I've lived here nearly all my life. I was raised between Grange Moor and Lepton.
'House' means hamlet in the Holmfirth and Huddersfield areas. We live at Booth House. Flush House is up the hill. Malkin House. etc.
I like your images of herons.
I've seen a kingfisher at the river below Devour but that was in around 1995.
It's bad if a fish lives alone in a lido.
I could do with Nordic sticks! I have bad legs. Accident 15 years ago. Do you recommend them for poor legs?
Yes, I also find the old industry in this valley interesting. There are rail tracks in the top of Malkin Wood. 9". Wagons on rails. YOu said that!
You understand the Medieval systems. Are you a historian? I think you are!
All this at the top is my view from our bedroom! It's a nice view to awaken to.
Incidentally, do you know why there is a stone pillar like a milestone saying COUNTY near St David church, Holmbridge? I think it must have been the old Cheshire-Yorkshire or West Riding border.
It helps that the photos zoom in each time.
I wonder who owns Malkin Wood.
I'm an artist and I'm just writing my biography for a major conservation organisation and I'm mentioning Holmfirth.
I'll send you some info if you're interested as I am a history freak but I concentrate my art and research on the Chapel of the Nine Altars at Fountains Abbey this project. It's a long term project so my head is in North Yorkshire really.
    Well done!
    Please be in touch soon.
    Yours sincerely,
    Elizabeth Darley
