    the omoplata has recently become my favourite to practice. I'm loving the different options!

    This is pretty effective. I learned it in a Clark Gracie seminar a few months back and have been able to pull it off a few times when the original omoplata attempt goes a little sideways, or against a strong opponent who is basing out.

    I love spider guard! It works great for me because I have long arms and legs. I will have to get these DVD's. Thanks!

      Brands Gable Yeah it's almost as bad as the John Danaher.
      Luckily he must have finally bought a mirror and just shaved it off. This guy needs to do the same.

    A technique that looks very similar to this is on the cover of Ultimate Fighting Techniques Vol 2 by Royce Gracie and Kid Peligro, from one of Royce Gracie's MMA fights in Japan. Same technique?

    I like to try BJJ things in Judo. We are only allowed to do elbow locks. The original part of this, where he is straightening his legs, is that putting pressure on the elbow or the shoulder?

    • @TheHardlikerock
      @TheHardlikerock 10 років тому

      More on shoulder as omoplata is a shoulder lock,but you have pressure on elbow as well cause a movement twist..

    • @RushRun
      @RushRun 10 років тому +3

      All Ude-Garami variations applies the pressure on the sholder, so "sholder-locks" are allowed on Judô.
      As far as I know, this is not forbidden YET.

      Omoplata is totally ok in judo.

    How well would this work in a nogi situation? It looks to me like the would be awfully easy to pull out of before you get the hook in.

    • @StephanKesting

      This works really well in Nogi, so long as you're deep enough on the initial attack. Give it a try and see for yourself!

    • @philo-aletheia
      @philo-aletheia 10 років тому +2

      Works okay with no-gi as long as the trapped arm is deep and the person doesn't see it coming. Otherwise, he'll just block the snaking leg/ankle (kind of like blocking a gogoplata attempt). Of course, everything is a little more slippery in no-gi.

    The fall would have been nasty. However in other situations its good to strip grip and fall on purpose when your opponent is trying to set something up. Prevent them from setting up certain moves. Peace out.
