I live in northern Missouri and the 1st year my cherry tree produced. I know nothing about preparing. I feel awful as I don't have enough time to save all that are on the tree . Now to find the 6 pitted and save all I can. Thank you for a good view of a way to get the most out of my favorite pie CHERRY. Fresh im excited. Wish me luck im a guy who likes to do whatever I can to get the job done.
I appreciate your honesty and demonstration of both. I would prefer the smaller pitter as I do not pit more than twice a year and am messy enough on my own. I do not need a murder scene! Good luck everyone!
My husband and I have been eating so many cherries lately. I just bought a dehydrator and I really want to dehydrate some of them. I would prefer the Leifheit Pitter. I think I could get a lot more done and in a quicker time. Thank you for giving these gifts out to your readers. That is very sweet. I have been following you but I never subscribed so I am now a new subscriber.
I could have used a cherry pitter last summer when a friend had buckets of cherries from her trees. I just found your channel and I subscribed. I look forward to watching your videos. I am in the U.S. and well over 18 years old, but I won't disclose exactly how much over 18. I would like the small cherry pitter. Thanks for the review video.
Wow !!! I never knew they had such a tool I love the Progressive I use a Pitter that does one at a time !!! I love fresh cherries to make a cherry pie !!! Thanks for this video !!!
Boy I could have used this a week ago. Took me a few hours pitting cherries with a knife. The Progressive seems like it would be my best bet. I only deal with cherries during picking season. Thank you for the reviews. It was nice to see them in action.
I have been contemplating which to buy, but I think I've settled on the Prepwork pitter. My kids and I all love cherries! This would make life easier for me.
Since pie cherries are smaller they may not get stuck, thereby delaying the process. Love your content. Thanks for sharing. 🍒 I prefer the Progressive Pitter.
Just started watching you on UA-cam! I got a dehydrater for christmas a few years ago. I never knew you could dehydrate soo much!! Thank you. I has some frozen strawberries in my freezer got them out dehydrated them and then turned them into powder!! Put them on pancakes and my kids and husband LOVED them.
Would love the 1st one! I am planting cherry trees but am getting some now from neighbors. Thanks for your review, it is nice to have honest opinions on gadgets!
Laugh all you want... I use a straw and push the pit out. I’ve gotten pretty fast. My straw doesn’t care how big or small the cherry is, not much mess. It’s quite relaxing to do a quart or 2 at a time. Thanks for the review!♥️😎🍒 And yes I have done 8 quarts so far for jam and cobbler!
Not gonna laugh, I've used a straw a lot for things like this and strawberries. But it got tiresome after awhile, so I switched to a pitter for bigger jobs.
Picked cherries for the first time and spent hours pitting by hand. It was time well spent as we'll enjoy them this winter. I'm liking the progressive for our needs next year. How kind of you to do this during the pandemic! Thank you!
Thank you for showing me how to use these pitters I always love to see how products work before I go and buy them.... I also liked how it was in a real life situation not a commercial where everything works perfect..... Keep up the great work..... I also liked the bigger one because it seems to get more done when working with the right size cherries..... 😊
I love cherries and they are good for arthritic pain. My preference is the Progressive one: I don't like the idea of the splatter and the size of the other one.
Just found your channel & subscribed yesterday! I came across your videos while trying to learn about vacuum sealing, but am so excited to watch all of your videos now as well. I would love either cherry pitter since as of now I do each one by hand.
Oh my, either would be better than poking with a straw! Lol... I think the Progressive would be easy to store in a nearby drawer/area and would surely be a terrific help! Thank you for doing this and I love your tips! Blessings from Ohio
This was a great review. I like how you had to show what to do when it didn't work perfectly. The smaller cherry picker is the size I like. I subscribed. 🍒
Love your channel. Planted 2 young cherry trees this year. Harvest wasn't great but more than I expected. If I were to win, I'd choose the Progressive Pitter, Thanks for all the advice dehydrating veggies and fruits.
Looks like the Leifheit Pitter would be a blast when working efficiently, with the right size of cherries. Certainly would get me to reconsider preserving cherries and no longer buying canned when I make a pie. Thanks for the review!
If I were to win, I would love to get the Leifheit. Thanks for the demonstration and review, this sort of info is invaluable to homesteading newbies like me!
I bought the Progessive just before cherry season to use this year. Worked great, never had a cherry get stuck in the top like you did. Rarely did a pit stay in the cherry and they were easy to find because I halved them to dehydrate. Made cherry season so much easier
Like I said, I''m thinking it's because the hinge on mine isn't working properly, so not popping out the cherries all the time. But it still makes the job easier than doing it by hand.
Wish I had seen this a couple weeks ago! I composted my stems. Thanks for reviewing the cherry pitters! I would lean more towards the Leifhiet (spelling) because I added cherries to our fruit tree ensemble. At the moment we use a single cherry pitter.
Thank you for this review. I would love the progressive pitter. I live in the middle of Rainier and am surrounded by cherries orchards and process 50+ pounds a season.
I would love to win the Progressive one that does 6 at a time. Thanks for the lesson and showing what to do with the pits and stems. I did not know they could be used. Thanks
Cherries are one of my favorite fruits, and definitely my preference for a fresh fruit pie. If I won, either one would work great for me, but my first choice would be the Progressive. Thanks!
We bought about 7 to 8 lbs of cherries a month ago, Lidl had a monster deal on them. My husband, me and our daughter sat and pitted them all by hand. Then we did 6 lbs of plums. Thank goodness I don't do that often.
@@ThePurposefulPantry mine only got stuck if the cherries were to large to fit in the hole. I find it works better if a toss them down the hole one at a time, as a bunch, they got stuck.
I’m so happy to see this review. I’ve debated to get one of these and wanted to see someone use them before I spent money on something I didn’t like. I love the Leifheit and will be getting one!! Thanks for creating this video.
Hello Darcy from Florida. Thanks for the review. I think the progressive cherry pitter would be the best one for me to use. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe. Blessings.
I would use the Progressive as I have thus far not done as much with preserving them because of the time consuming task of removing the pits. Nice demo though-good to know about the cherry size and the impact that can have on the product. This would convince me to preserve more cherries-thanks!
I would pick the progressive after watching that. Funny thing is I was just looking at cherry pitters 2 days ago. I had made a 1 pound batch of fermented cherries after reading your 25 ways to preserve cherries. I'd have done the honey jam but I had just used all my honey to ferment garlic last week. After seeing this though. I think I will opt to not buy any and I'll just use a stainless steel straw and find something similar to a soda bottle. My cherries were massive I don't know if either of those pitters would have worked. I quartered my cherries to ferment them.
Hi I love your video's about dehydrating so informative. Some time ago I tried to can cherries and I got one of those pitters and I had Cherry Juice everywhere and it stained the counters. I did use like the big one and kept pinching the palm of my hand in slapping it down and got some bruises and a blood blister. I would love to get either one of the pitters. But the smaller one may be better for me. But I would not complain if I won the bigger. Thank you for your awesome information . Keep drying and canning.
Absolutely love fresh cherries. I have the progressive one & really love it. So I'd love to have the other one if I were lucky enough to win. Thanks for having the giveaway.
I just started getting lots of cherries from my cherry tree! It’s such a tuff choice but I think I’m long term I think the leifheit. Thanks for the giveaway
It’s like you read my mind sometimes! I was just telling my hubby “no more cherries with a pitter!” I wouldn’t need the big one, so I vote for the progressive.
My daughter has a hand held one that she picked up for $4 dollars at a dollar store. She liked it so much she bought a second one to have as back-up! She cans a lot of jams & jellies. I wonder what she'll think of these. lol
I've never pitted cherries. We don't keep them around long enough for anything but fresh eating. That looks super simple to use. Might be a good one for my 5yr old to use.

Glad you liked it! If you're entering - please let me know which or no preference you'd want. It helps me track those who want to be entered and those who don't.
I would totally put up cherries IF I had one of these that really worked! As it is, I learned how to use a paper clip when I was a child and that is the same way I do it now. Looks like the Progressive pitter would be the most helpful though. I have used cherry pits for hand warmers - washed the pits really well, dried them thoroughly and sewed some into hand sized fabric pillows. Then I simply warm in the microwave for a minute or two and keep in my pockets during cold weather.
Thank you so much for the video! I just finished pitting 20 pounds of cherries and I saved all the pits. I would also love to win either cherry pitter!
