The reason why those gang members were emotional and crying was because they were family.. fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins.. not simple gang buddies.. during the final fight sequence main antagonist Fani says to our hero "we killed 4 of ur family amd u killed 30 of ours".
Western people are less sympathetic Even towards their own family, don't we see how they hardly know about their own children after they tern 18 seems like animlistic nature doesn't feel like human , like how can you abandoned your own blood
I came out of the theater and immediately put this on in the car. I can’t even leave the parking lot until I’ve watched your review for whatever movie I’ve just seen. This has become my routine.
Just watched this in Hindi and read the subtitles here and there, they were not very accurate. I think they were trying to make them relatable to English speakers, but did not do a very good job.
ty for the review! just to add to my last comment: in India, a powerful father does not need to be strict with his children or rough with criminals. he uses his power, influence, resources and money to control people and situations. hope this helps!
thanks for the review! couple clarifications lads: the gang is a bunch of (fraternal) dacoits, they do this for a living, it’s a family-run business of volume if you will and hence is able to pay the bills and keep the lights on in their homes. They’re emotional bc they are merely petty thieves, and this was a robbery gone wrong, the stakes are high bc this is family blood being spilled. The passengers are generally quiet bc freezing, “playing dead”, are natural responses to fear (particularly for first class travellers). And Tulika’s fear of her father may seem irrational to you but this is a cultural norm in a country that perhaps hasn’t been able to shake off the patriarchy as far as certain western countries. Relationships with our fathers (for sons and daughters alike) are often distant, ambiguous, severely tilted power dynamic, you get it. The villain at the end is not fighting him like Md. Ali bc his father was just lit up like a human torch running through the train, he is obviously unsettled by his family dropping like flies before his very eyes. Nothing wrong with being derivative, the movie is clearly popular bc violence and action are classic and timeless, and the kills are absolutely brutal, no one cares a damn that it took long to tie up the corpses and that there was no fire truck. Easter egg btw: fani’s name means venomous and amrit’s name means nectar 😊
How are they pretty thieves though? From what I recall they were already slicing people up. And the father part confused me because he’s said to be tough but throughout the movie we didn’t see much toughness from him. Maybe my expectations are different due to cultural differences. But this whole movie was very unexpected. Especially her dying in the middle of the movie 😟
@@ShelbieMua Since you're unfamiliar with the kind of decoits/thiefs this movie is parodying, check out the movies: *_Gangs of Wasseypur_*_ - Part 1 & 2_ Those movies won't be as confusing for you as Kill was, since it's a grounded, character-focused, gangster (not action) movie, based on true events. Plus, after you are finished, Kill's bad guys will start to make more sense. Gangs of Wasseypur is a single story split into 2 movies, kinda like Kill-Bill. The 1st movie serves as the back-story to set up the main conflict in #2, but they are both really good crime/mafia movies, especially #2.
@@ShelbieMua thanks KindlingEffect, banging movie recs. hey Shelbie, the only true purpose of those dacoits is to steal everything you have. they’re like pirates. except they don’t care to kill people. the weapons are to threaten them. killing makes things messy, makes them more likely to be caught bc they are not polished assassins. because they lack scruples, they will wield those weapons if necessary to protect their interests. There are way more violent films than this, but, why even remake? There is now à large population of Indians in the NA. Bollywood films are more released stateside? Why not jump on as an extra dustributor and wide releas?

I have seen both Kill and Kalki 2898. I was so disappointed that SPOILER ………………………………………….,,,,,,,,,………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Kalki didn’t have an ending and is “to be continued.” At least when I saw Horizon part 1, I knew it would be continued.
Joseph you were so funny at the beginning asking if your quote was shady. Sometimes you and Nick are shady in a good and entertaining way. All of your fans would not want you and Nick any other way.
The title gets high marks for having honesty - seems like "constant action" craving fans will appreciate - it's Joseph and Nick's target audience for this movie to succeed!
I’m assuming there a few factors as to why they are remaking this: -Many of the movies you listed were by non American directors, so I’m sure American directors would like to dig the the same realms further with their audience. The American movies I have watched that are titled gorey or violent were not very memorable. For me, there must be emotion to it. If you just put a montage of violent scenes, it’s just plain uncomfortable and a feeling of ‘wtf did I just watch?’. It needs an appropriate backstory. Then only can I get behind the extreme extend of force used. E.g. why is the hero after the culprits ? What exactly did the culprits do ? What was the relationship between the hero and the victim ? This is why John Wick had a large outreach. We know why wick went ballistic on them and we were all for it. -It’s a nice movie to remake because, the plot is not common (bandits in a train taken on by a commando soldier). I can’t remember another movie with the same plot tbh. So remakes will STILL seem ‘fresh’ in a way. - Another thing is that the plot is malleable enough to add or take things away. The movie wasn’t perfect. I liked it but some things could have been done differently. Which is perfect to make remakes that are not the exact clones of the original. -I’m sure directors who specialise in such films would be thrilled to see the work of another director. Seeing how a director with a completely different set of experiences, background and skills to them, tells their story would be intriguing. It’s like chefs from different parts of the world making a dish and sharing their final product with each other. Everyone gets a taste of new flavours and everyone is excited by it. And most importantly, new hybrid ideas pop up. - The director of John Wick already has experience in making a hit franchise of the same genre so it’s no surprise on why he would put his hands up compared to someone else. He has the means and skills to pull it off well. -Plus, the stories both run on the revenge path. So it’s similar in a way I guess. It will fit right into his ‘style’ of movies.
not only her...even decoit gang speak about heroin dad.. that was one of reason they didnt wan get down without finishing him off.. cause out of that train he could hunt them down...

I give the film credit for being a Raid-esque type film in such a small, clastrophobic area. In the trailer, you never know that the main character has a partner helping him. To me John Wick is gunshot after gunshot after gunshot. It gets boring after a while. This movie has the creative kills like the lighter fluid scene and the extinguisher scene. You’re right about the trailer, don’t show so much.
‘All of these passengers [on the train] are just standing around like they’re waiting for the bus’. 🤣🚂🚌 This sounds like THE CASSANDRA CROSSING meets MIDNIGHT EXPRESS meets MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS meets SUPERBUS meets RUNAWAY TRAIN meets DIE HARD meets TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE . . . but with super attractive Indian models turned actors doing ultra-violence and no breakaway shots of people dancing on the Egyptian pyramids or the Sydney opera house or in the Alps. 🤣

Honestly, I felt the grief that the enemies experienced was something we don't see very often in western action. I found that kinda interesting.
